This newly built guest house is airy, full of light, and super clean. Master bedroom has 1 queen and 1 twin bed. The romantic cozy sleeping loft has 1 queen bed. Both spaces have fantastic ocean views. The private roof deck has a 'white water' view as well as City views to the Hollywood Sign, Downtown and Palos Verdes. Kitchen and living room look out to a private grassy yard. Gourmet Nespresso coffee maker - the best espresso and coffee! Excellent location - easy walking distance to many restaurants and cafes, yoga studios, and shops. 10 minute walk to the beach and Main Street. 5 minute drive to trendy Abbot Kinney and Third Street Promenade.

About Julie Rhee

My husband and I live on site with our twin boy and girl (2 years old). The design of the house was inspired by a 10 year sailing voyage around the world by my husband. The house is powered totally by solar energy and has such features as a 20' sundial and Meridian line that tells the date at solar noon. The house is naturally cooled by the ocean breezes and solar-assisted radiant heating. All rooms in the house open to private decks and gardens.

Beautiful, Clean Guest House

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the guest house. Upon arrival, we were greeted by one of the owners and given a quick tour of the house. We were pleased with how clean and well laid out everything was. We are a family of 5 (3 teenage daughters) and had plenty of space. We really appreciated the numerous closets/cabinets and drawers to stow our clothes and suitcases. We really felt we could 'move in' for the week. The views and location are as described. It was very helpful to have a spot for parking, as the street can be quite busy. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great alternative to hotel living. The kitchen was well stocked and the Nespresso (with plenty of coffee pods) was a nice bonus.

Terrific stay

We enjoyed a 3 night stay at this great property. It is well located, comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen and living area is on the ground floor. There is access to a private yard at the rear and a shared outdoor space in front of the living area. The main bedroom (which has an additional bed) and bathroom (complete with shower and bath) is located on the first floor. A flight of stairs from the first floor provides access to the rooftop balcony. A ladder provides access from the first floor to the second mezzanine level where there is an additional double bed (access to this bedroom would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues and it is not really suitable for young children). The host went over and above to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. Less than 10 minutes walk to Main Street. Great value and would definitely recommend.

Amazing stay in Santa Monica!

My husband, 10-year old son, and myself spent six nights in this amazing guest house. The home was perfect - modern, clean and in a fabulous location. Julie was extremely helpful and gave us great suggestions of restaurants that we could walk to from the house. There was parking in the driveway which was very helpful, although in this location, you can easily get around without a car. We walked each day to the beach and to restaurants. It was a fabulous place to enjoy the LA area.

Wonderful and Unique

This was our first experience renting a house instead of staying in a hotel. I am happy to say that it exceeded our expectations and left us wishing we had stayed longer. The guesthouse was comfortable, spacious and inviting as well as private. The views were amazing and we will definitely be staying here whenever we visit LA. Loved that we could grocery shop at Whole foods 5 minutes away or walk a few houses down to the end of the street to rent bikes.

Great family getaway - beautiful guest house, ideal location.

This is a long-overdue review of my family's stay in April. The home was beautiful, it had everything we needed, was spacious to accommodate a small child and in-laws for a long weekend. It was also very convenient for activities in Santa Monica and Venice, and we would happily stay there again as a result.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, willing to help with anything that we may have needed during the stay.

This place is definitely worth checking out for you next trip to the west side of Los Angeles.

Fantastic 2 bedroom house ideally (and safely) located for easy access to LA's must see attractions

High quality guest house which is directly behind the main house but with it own garden, access and off road parking space. Really well equipped throughout and beautifully designed made you feel very comfortable. Nice touch with the sun roof with a view of the pacific - Everything was there that we needed and we felt very relaxed in the house. If you have large or heavy baggage there are a number of steps to negotiate to get to the house so I would not recommend for those with mobility considerations.

Julie was really great to deal with before we arrived and has really communicative by email and text to help organise, likewise during our stay. We left a bag on departure and Julie went out of her way to help us recover it, which was greatly appreciated.

The location is fantastic. You are 10 minutes walk from Santa Monica beach, 20 from the pier, and there are rental bikes at the end of the street (100meters). Additionally we went to Dodgers Stadium, Hollywood and Universal studios all of which are really convenient from the house. Disney is longer and you need to leave really early to be there as the gates open - but you cannot be close to Disney and the other sites in LA, so I would recommend a overnight in Anaheim before or after coming to Santa Monica to take care of Disney. Also on location lots of restraints nearby, we loved the Ramen nearby at Jinya Ramen, sides were amazing. Plus really good Gleeson supermarket 1/2 mile away to stock up.

Only negatives for me are 1. All US houses seem to be made of wood, so you hear you neighbours 2. The traffic in LA is utterly, utterly miserable, which is why your location is important which is a major upside of Santa Monica.

We are a family of four and I would absolutely stay at this property again. Have fun.
