Beautiful ocean views

  • 4 of 5

I came for a work trip with 5 coworkers. The place was plenty big to accommodate us all and give us each our own space. The layout is a little funky, but all that went away when you stepped outside to the patio on the water. The property has a sea turtle feeding station right out front and we saw turtles daily. Lena, the property manager, was helpful and friendly and quick to respond with questions. The barely populated beach next door made for an awesome escape by all of us. My only recommendation to visitors is to consider the weather before booking. The north shore is notoriously windy, so it was often way too rough to swim, hard to eat outside and we had very little sun during our stay. But otherwise the charm of Paia and the beauty of this location made for a great trip.

Best place to stay in HI!

  • 5 of 5

This was my family’s second stay at this property. It is so perfectly situated at the edge of the ocean and within steps of Paia - gelato, poke, tattoos, North and South Maui, night life, groceries. Etc etc.

The perfect vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

So the layout seemed a little quirky at first but the 4 couples staying there quickly learned to appreciate the room to congregate or to find some privacy. The manager, Lena, was great and very responsive to any questions or concerns. The house was good but the true magic was the location. Out back, off the lanai, we were greeted with a stunning world class panorama with a beautiful beach to the immediate left, lava rocks, turtles and surf to the front and right. The small town of Paia was just up the block with restaurants, shops and great people watching. The Road to Hana seconds away. Truly something for everyone. Highly recommend.

It was the best of was the worst of times

  • 2 of 5

For the six of us the set up of the house was perfect as each couple had their own space. The views of the beach to our left and the rocky bay to our right were perfect. Being on a point we had to manoeuvre down precarious steps to access the beach. The hot tub lacked power. The deck lounges were covered in bird feces, at two of the four under a huge eucalyptus. Dining outdoors was unpleasant because the table was usually quite wet due to the ocean spray. In addition if you wanted to eat there and enjoy the ocean view you had to look at a rusted barbecue which, although very handy, needed a cover. Three stools in the kitchen area don't work for six people. The dining room was well away from the kitchen and it had only four chairs so we had to bring in heavy outdoor chairs to family dine.

As a camper I can overlook a lot in terms of preparing food, but this kitchen was a real challenge. The dishwasher wasn't secured and when opening the lazy susan cupboard next to it there was much juggling needed. Same thing with the far right drawer when you tried to open it or the side door onto the deck. A toaster would have been much more convenient than the warming oven. Back to the dishwasher: When you unloaded the plates to put them in the cupboard you had to go around the door which would work much better with a two-way hinge. The coffee maker held just over two mugs of serve six people. There was no vegetable peeler and we had to request more dishwasher tabs as well as more toilet paper.

The agent was great, very helpful. We wouldn't recommend this property even though it was a perfect location to access the town. For the price, the amenities should have been more than what we had.

loved this place!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of eight stayed at this home for this stunningly located home from the 8th to the 15th of January and we are happy to report the home has had an excellent recent extensive renovation and refurnishing. Add that to the truly amazing location and you are going to be guaranteed a memorable stay. We loved the closeness to the water and saw turtles every day in the water right in front of the house. Our kids loved the ten stone steps that deposited them onto a perfect and surprisingly quiet white sand beach. As the home is is also only 100 yards up a small dead end street from the quirky and laid back town of Paia with abundant restaurants and shops it meant that we were freed from having to get in a car to get groceries or to go out to dinner. Flatbreads and the Paia Fish house are our favorites. We enjoyed the hot tub a lot in the evenings, its just 30 ft from the ocean.

Quite simply the best vacation we have had ever!!

great location... horrible accommodation

  • 1 of 5

we were two families of 6 people... the main house is furnished from flea markets.. the kitchen had cabinets that opened backwards... hardly any kitchen glasses, utensils etc. the cottage in the back of the house.. my first night staying there.. i felt something crawling on my leg in the middle of the night.. i hurriedly got out of bed and turned on the lights and it was a cockroach in my bed..of which i found four more in the small kitchenette... ugh... the cottage had a horrible urine smell to it... such a shame that the owners do not put some money into this home.. the location is spectacular .... easy to walk to town gorgeous views... just a derelict house and cottage.... however the charge per week was extremely high for a house in this condition...

Owner's Response: We as owners would like to make it clear to prospective guests looking at this review that that this review was from a visit in June of 2017 that was curiously posted on January 1st of 2018 . Since their visit the home has been extensively renovated. Please note the more recent reviews from since that major renovation was completed. Dear Deba, we are surprised to see you review from a visit made six months ago posted just now. During you stay at our home you were daily in touch with Lena our property manager and we never received one report of dissatisfaction with the condition of the property. All we heard was that your group were happy with the location and condition of the accommodations. You and future prospective guests will be happy to know that a few weeks after your stay we embarked on a complete renovation of the property that included new floors, electrical system, drywall, paint, kitchen, bath and fixture upgrades. We also installed a whole house A/C system along with complete new furnishings. We now have what we feel is a perfect blend of the "old Hawaii" home and full modern conveniences. Annie and Peter, owners.
