About Joel Ceille

We are a family of four that has always rented in northern Wisconsin, and always loved the clean air and vacations with family.

Joel Ceille purchased this lodge in 2012

Why Joel Ceille chose Northern Wisconsin

There is no place like the Manitowish chain of 10 lakes, over 4000 acres of water to enjoy, crystal clear water, and beautiful sandy shores, no better place to spend time with family and friends.

What makes this lodge unique

Walk to everything, grocery, restaurants, water ski show, Discovery Center, music in the park, snowmobile trail only 75 yards away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great week. Weather was perfect and Lodge was excellent. We had not seen the unit and were a bit hesitant to book it without walking thru, but when we saw it, we were very impressed. The tall ceilings, the huge windows, enough bedrooms for everyone to have privacy. Unit was spotless when we arrived and very comfortable. Furniture is all nice and modern. Great TV and internet is very important. (even though we are suppposed to be "getting away from it all") We woke up early for fishing (did I mention the lake? Very clean and swimmable. We rented a pontoon and went to 6 or so of the other lakes in the chain. We took kayaks to the island, and did nolo boarding. Also great for biking, right on the trail, and I guess the snowmoblile route is right there too. Shopping is close and a bar. Everything you could want. We played golf at Trout lake. View of the lake is a bit hidden by trees but a great pier makes docking a boat really easy. We enjoyed the firepit too. We have been to 6 different units in the past 15 years and we definetly will be back here. If you are thinking of renting, DO IT. (Just not on my week ! ;-)

Will return without any doubt!

We just got home from our family vacation in Manitowish Waters. We had 4 families staying at the cabin and we could have fit more! The place is huge, 3 floors of perfection. We had 3 babies and a 3 year old with us and the cabin was perfect for our family. The listing is spot on, you will not be disappointed at all. We had perfect weather and the lake looked amazing. We decided that we will return every year and make this our new family vacation spot. The town is small but exactly what you need. The store in town has EVERYTHING so don't over pack the food. We went to The Pea Patch every night we were there for happy hour and apps, great place and the owner is the best. Seriously, if you want to have a great family vacation, pick this place and just enjoy your week. We also brought our dog Stella, she loved it too, still sleeping off all the running she did. Thanks for a great trip, see you in the summer!

Top Notch

  • 5 of 5

My family was returning to the Northwoods for a 90th birthday party for my mother-in-law after over 20 years since the family cabin in nearby Woodruff was sold. Our stay couldn't have been more perfect. The lodge was exactly as protrayed, spotlessly clean, plenty of room for 3 plus families. The area is wonderful, with restaurants, and shopping within walking distance. The biking trails were great, and Memorial Park was an added plus for the beach with the grandkids. Chuck was wonderful to deal with, checking to see if we arrived safely and had any questions. My deposit was returned to me within one week of our return home. I really can't say enough good things about the entire experience, and would return in a heatbeat. Don't hesitate, you will love it.

Heaven on Earth!

This lodge and the area are really perfect for a relaxing getaway... the white pine logs of the lodge, the surrounding lakes and the forest emit a glow of peace and happiness. The lodge is provisioned with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay... there is even a wonderful food store not far away to get fresh and healthy food to cook in the state of the art kitchen. One feature I particularly liked is the weather station where you view the current weather parameters and trends right in the area as the weather monitor is on site... e.g. wind, temperature and barometer readings and trends listed are very helpful for fishing and hunting. This lodge and its docks are extremely convenient to more than 10 lakes in the area for fishing and also to public hunting areas in the Northern Highland State Forest; we didn't hunt when we were there at this time, but we did hike a lot at various locations (Discovery Center is only 10 minutes away, Powell trails, Van Vliet trails (with old growth hemlock forests untouched by time). The peak fall colors during our stay are probably the best I have ever seen.

We also kayaked down the Manitowish river which is nearby on a guided tour from the Discovery Center (check there for year round activities like this e.g. snowshoeing in the winter, canoeing in the summer, fall).

This lodge would also be great for cross country skiing or snowmobiling as well which hopefully we can get back to do (and enjoy the roaring fireplace afterwards).

We also heard there are moose in the area; one was seen swimming out to one of the islands on the chain of lakes which Rest Lake is a part of; we did see eagles and an abundance of bird life also for those interested in bird watching. Some of the best walleye and musky fishing is in the area also with convenient boat rental, landings, and access to the chain of lakes in the area. Many people we spoke with were catching walleye, bass, and musky (I caught fish from my kayak as well), The locals are very friendly and offer fishing and hunting advice at length.

There are a lot of restaurants in the area as well; We also toured cranberry bogs and bought cranberry products which you can only get at a cranberry boutique there. The Chamber of Commerce in Manitowish Waters has many maps and guidance which got us started enjoying the area quickly. They gave us detailed maps of driving tours, 5 autumn color routes, & hiking trails.

What a great place to stay and area to enjoy!

Beautiful Comfort

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful lodge with all the comforts of home and a fantastic lake view. We truly enjoyed our stay on beautiful Rest Lake, this is a wonderful chain of lakes that we explored daily by boat. It was so nice to enjoy the sunshine and swimming on our own dock and then retire to this fantastic house. All the furnishing were top notch. We were able to prepare wonderful meals in the kitchen that was stocked with everything needed to make cooking easy. The bedrooms are very private and have great sheets and pillows. We will be back!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Stayed five nights and family had a tremendous time! What a great rental unit and will definitely try and reserve again, even see if brother's family will join us since there is more than enough room. Boating, water skiing and fishing were perfect and we are going to reserve dates and give snowmobiling a try this winter. Town/restaraunt's/coffee shop a short walk away and all were good.
