One lovley place to spend vacation.

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week in this fantastic house with our teenage children, the house is centrally located in the area close to the pool, the hotel and the bus that takes guests to and from the beach (hilly). The house has everything you would expect and suited us perfectly.

Stefano and his wife were very nice and accommodating.

The staf on the beach was not talking very good English but with a smile and some gesturing everything got solved, we preferd to lie on the beach instead of the pool when the beach is wonderful with chairs, umbrellas and a cafeteria / ristorante that served good food both in the daytime and in the evenings at good prices.

Car is a must in Calapiccola.

We can warmly recommend Stefanos house for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

A place to unwind and to have a lovely time

  • 5 of 5

A week spent at this great place was too short for us. But I hope some day I will be there one more time to fill the caressing sun, to listen the sound of the wind passing pines needles, to enjoy the wash, to try delicious food and to meet again Stefano - our friendly landlord. Thank you Stefano!

Buon appartamento e bel posto

  • 5 of 5

Why STEFANO BALLESIO chose Porto Santo Stefano

Maremma Toscana is a land full of history, archeological treasures, natural beauty, popular traditions and it still mantains its ancient flavour.

A territory wich for the most part spreads through the territory of Grosseto.

An area covering 4500 sqkm amongst the largest in Italy, wich a density of just 48 inhabitants per sqkm, wich gives you an idea of the uncontaminated spaces yet to be discovered

A land with an historical wealth proven by the Etruscan and Roman vestiges, by the medieval centres, the mining settlement, wich have characterized it for thousand of years

Porto Santo Stefano is the largest town and port on the Monte Argentario promontory as well as being the administrative centre for the region. It is on the north coast of Monte Argentario and is a well-known, popular holiday spot for Italians.

The town developed under Spanish rule after the foundation of the Stato dei Presidi and later, during the 18th century, fishing families from Naples and Liguria started to settle here and still make up a large portion of the population. During The Second World War Porto Santo Stefano was very heavily bombed and almost totally destroyed. The town was rebuilt in the 1950's but it does not appear very new due to the clever reconstruction using all the old stone.

The port is the hub of the town and it is a busy, working port which is divided into two parts, new (Porto del Valle) and old (Porto Vecchio). The latter is now an anchorage for passing yachtsmen and for holiday craft and becomes very busy during the summer months. On one side Porto del Valle is home to the large, local fishing fleet as well as the ferries crossing to the Tuscan islands. On the other there is a large, well equipped marina which often has expensive and impressive yachts moor

Car: recommended

Monte Argentario is in between Florence and Roma, in the middle of Parco Naturale della Maremma. From there You can join beautiful sea excursion (leaving every day from Porto Santo Stefano). and if you have a car you can go for a day to Florence, Siena, Pisa, Monte Amiata, Saturnia Spa and the famous Bolsena lake.

The rugged, exclusive area of Monte Argentario is home to Cala Piccola, a rocky cove with a small pebble beach and translucent aquamarine water.

Why go?

A mountain rising from the sea, and connected to the mainland only by three narrow isthmuses, Monte Argentario has an entirely different feel from the rest of the Tuscan coast: rocky and rugged, but also, in its golf clubs and yacht marinas, more exclusive.
