Our family grew up in this building. Owner lives upstairs
The Owner purchased this condo in 1980
It is located in a prime Marina local, one block from the Palace of Fine Arts, a few blocks from Chestnut St,and right near the Marina Green and Crissey Field allowing wonderful walks with the most gorgeous views of both bridges and the Marin Headlands.
The condo is perfect for vacations and long term stays. It is fully equipped with all the comforts of home, designer furnished, light and spacious, 1500 sq ft. It is in a perfect spot, near both highways, taking you to Napa or Tahoe. The neighborhood has a village atmosphere with everything you need and it is very safe.
We've spent over a year in this wonderful two bedroom, two bath apartment that's beautifully furnished. It has a very cozy feel with a fireplace for those cold foggy evenings! And a lovely dining room, that we've entertained in, located right off of the very workable kitchen. The whole building is beautifully maintained and we'll miss all of the neighbors here. But it's Kathy and Rick that make this place more than a rental - they really make it feel homey. This location is just a short walk to Chestnut Street or Union Street for fun shopping or dining. It also is conveniently located to events in Ft Mason, Palace of Fine Arts, Marina Green, The Presidio and Crissy Field. We've so enjoyed our time in this apartment!
We recently spent 6 months in this apartment with our toddler while remodeling our home near by. It could not have been a better set up. The size was perfect for the 3 of us (2 kids would probably be a bit tight) and Rick & Kathy had everything we needed to feel comfortable. They were a joy to work with and helped us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The neighbors in the building were all lovely as well. We were so pleasantly surprised how easy and enjoyable the experience was. The location is perfect too. Highly recommend for anyone needing a temporary home or place to house out-of-town guests. Thank you!
We recently spent 7 months in this apartment when we first moved to the Bay Area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rick and Kathy have done an amazing job with the apartment - its huge, beautifully remodeled and furnished, gets lots of light and has everything you need. And the neighborhood was gorgeous! We walked to nearby Crissy Field every day to enjoy the beach and the GG Bridge views. Also nearby is the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts...a lovely place to relax and read a book. And Chestnut Street, just three blocks away, has all of the restaurants and shopping you could ask for. We could not have found a more perfect place to welcome us to San Francisco!
This is a fine apartment in a good area, just three blocks down from a diverse collection of bars, restaurants, delis, cafes and retail outlets - and even a couple of cinemas. It is also close to Marina Green and the statuesque Palace of Fine Arts.
The apartment is large, stylish but comfortable, well appointed and full of thoughtful touches and storage space . It has good, free wireless internet, a barbecue and TVs & entertainment systems for those stay-at-home nights. Hosts Kathy and Rick are extremely hospitable and welcoming, live upstairs but don't live in your pocket. Rick even went totally beyond the call of duty and pumped up a tyre on my bike when it was getting flat!
You can walk to Fisherman's Wharf from here (about 30 mins) if you are so inclined. There are buses into the city for those who don't want to hire bikes to get around and taxis are generally plentiful.
I would unhesitatingly recommend this to anyone.
Rick and Kathy operate a wonderful apartment in the Marina District. The two bedroom apartment is spacious and well-appointed. The bedding and other furniture are excellent.
The location is excellent for both leisure travelers and long-term stay guests. While public transportation options are limited in the Marina District, there is one bus line (including a morning and early evening express) with a stop within 1/2 of a block of the apartment that connects to downtown. The regular bus line goes through Chinatown and North Beach, with proximity to the Embarcadero and Nob Hill. Ergo, for those able and willing to use the bus system, the location is perfect acceptable. There are other bus lines within a half-mile that go to other areas of town, including Pacific Heights. There is also one parking spot in the garage, which is tight, so a smaller car is helpful. A car is helpful for tourists that might want to spend time driving outside of San Francisco, such as to Marin County, which is a short 20 minute drive away.
The Marina District is wonderful for walking around. The Golden Gate Bridge is a few miles walk. The Precidio is a few blocks away as is the Palace of Fine Arts. Crissy Field, which overlooks the Golden Gate Bridge, is less than a half-mile away. The Marina is a great location for exploring sights or simply to just walk along the bay with the bridge in front of you. Importantly, the Marina is possibly the safest location in San Francisco with few transients and (at this location) virtually no noise from the street. The Marina is also filled with dozens of great restaurants and retailers, mostly independent, and all within a short walk. The food options range from less expensive to higher-end dining.
In terms of upkeep, Kathy and Rick could not be more hospitable and caring. Having stayed at other vacation rentals that were managed by larger organizations, I was initially leery about choosing an independent entity for my stay. However, Kathy and Rick certainly showed they were just as capable as hosts and apartment renters. They are professional, honest, and very easy to work with.
I strongly recommend their unit and presume others that they rent are of similar high standards of quality.
The apartment exceeded my expectations - it was immaculate, very, very spacey and had every amenity you needed. Even better than the photos. The location was ideal for walking to Christie Field/Marina Blvd for outside activities and viewing the Golden Gate Bridge (so beautiful) and walking to supermarkets/shopping/restaurants on Chestnut street. There are many, many great restaurants in walking distant. Transportation is very close. Also very near to Palace of Fine Arts which is a beautiful place to just sit and read a book.
The neighborhood is great - very residential and quiet.
The owners were outstanding - very friendly and helpful - they went above and beyond to help me with everything - transportation questions/directions, they recommended great restaurants to eat, they even lent me their plug to get my apple tv working! My only disappointment was I had to leave after 6 weeks.
I would definitely recommend this property and I can't wait to go back next year.
Located on a quiet street, two blocks from bustling Chestnut Street, which features a wide array of restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops, gyms, movies, winebars, grocery stores, salons, etc. Walk to the Marina Greens with its miles of trails, parklands, boat harbors; bike along the San Francisco Bay from Crissy Field to Fisherman's Wharf. enjoying expansive views of both iconic bridges. The Presidio and Palace of Fine Arts are within easy walking distance. Walk only 2 blocks to the bus stop for Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square, and the Financial District.
