My husband and I have been together since we were teenagers and have always made our way up to Pennsylvania from New York for the past 32 years. We accidentally found Jim Thrope when we picked up a brochure for mountain biking. When we turned into the town we couldn't believe how beautiful it was. As we took our first step into this house, we were in love. I hope you will have wonderful memories, adventure packed weeks or just stop in and fall in love all over again!
Denise Rossano purchased this house in 2011
Besides the obvious reasons of beauty, the history of the house and its location, just sold us.
Walk to musical shows, museums, restaurants and shops.
This house was the star of our stay. We were getting married in JT and the early guests that would visit us at our rental were amazed by this house. The owners have created a beautiful home full of antiques yet with everthing a family could need during a stay. Plenty of towels, plates and cups, toothpaste. . .everything. We can not wait to visit again.
The Victorian on Broadway in Jim Thorpe was a perfect location for getting a group of family and friends together for a celebration. We had 10 in for for my wife's birthday and the house was well stocked, clean and filled with interesting furnishings and decorations. The beds and linens were especially nice. The kitchen and outdoor grill (a top of the line gas + coal smoker) plus seating for 10 and a huge buffet table made a large group dinner memorable. Parking up the hill behind the house was sufficient after being instructed to unload in from of the house and then take the cars up. It is only a short walk to downtown Jim Thorpe and a 15 min car ride to the outdoor activities in Lehigh Gorge State Park. The owner is responsive to questions but not overbearing. We have stayed with HA / VRBO in many places and this house is easy to recommend.
We rented the Victorian mansion over Memorial Day weekend for out of town guests attending a family reunion. The mansion is a fascinating place to stay with period pieces and unique furnishings. The house has a well stocked kitchen and the 5 bedrooms offered plenty of space. There is a back yard space with a grill and picnic tables and place for the kids to get outside. The location is within walking distance to the downtown area with shops and restaurants. The owner, Denise, was welcoming and accomodating to our needs. We will definitely consider renting it again.
Everything about our stay was fantastic!! The house is very clean, everything you need is there for you. The town is great as always. You are right in the middle of town, park your car on Friday and there is no reason to go anywhere. Denise is wonderful to work with.
The accommodations, location, and amenities with the property were all beyond our expectations. A group of 5 couples had more than enough room in the 5 bedrooms and around the large dining room table. The rental was for the entire 1st floor of the house and every room was filled with antiques and fascinating details. The house is located just up the street from the retail row of shops and restaurants and there was no need to ever move the cars once parked on Friday night. And although close to the action, there was no street noise to speak of (although it was winter and all windows were shut tight). The house was stocked with all of the plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, wine opener, etc. you could ever need and there was a dishwasher for clean up. Plus the owners had all of the cleaning products, trash bags, paper goods, plastic ware, toiletries, etc. you'd ever need for a fun weekend or a longer visit. I can't say enough good things about the rental process, the house, or our stay. Highly recommended!
Centrally located in the heart of Jim Thorpe - walking distance to everything. Denise was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to do while there which my entire family appreciated. She was around to help with a few things that needed fixing around the house and was readily available at all times. The parking isn't far or hard to get to and it holds a bunch of cars so no problems there. The house is huge inside and beautifully decorated. All of the rooms were located on the first floor which was perfect for my handicapped mother. The ten of us never felt like we were on top of each other and we felt like we were at home. I highly recommend a stay here any time you want to explore Jim Thorpe (which is very pretty at Christmas time!).
Steps away from The Mauch Chunk Opera House, fine restaurants and entertainment. Amazing outdoor activities to choose from like hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, paint balling, festivals to name a few. Walk through the village in downtown Jim Thorpe, shop at our unique vintage shops, visit our numerous art galleries, Take a tour of the Asa Packard Mansion or our beautiful St. Marks Church with its stunning Tiffany windows. Walk or take historic tours on a Segway. Take a 25 mile train ride through the most beautiful mountains in Pennsylvania or take a ride into the coal mines and hear all the history of our coal miners. Lakes, parks & trails everywhere surround you.
