Easy access to terrace from living/dining room and 2 main floor bedrooms. Plenty of parking available at front of house, or in lower carport.

House is located in a 24 lot gated community, on a spacious 5000 sq. meter lot. The property still operates as a working coffee plantation. Beautiful trails, a waterfall, creeks, tilapia pond, and of course lots of coffee plants, make it a very charming and relaxing environment. The nearest beach is just a 35 minute drive away, part of a national rainforest, where capuchin monkeys come down from the trees to join you for lunch.

Shopping is just a short 5 minute drive away, in lovely San Ramon. Large shopping mall with movie theatres and plenty of shops, the University of Costa Rica, hospital, restaurants, banks, farmers market, pharmacies, dentists, and everything else you may need during your stay.

You will meet Norm & Ana, our property managers, in San Ramon. From there, they will take you to our house, a short 5 minute drive away in Magallanes. Norm & Ana will walk you through the house, pointing out its many features, and provide you with the keys. Enjoy your welcome basket, which includes some of the varied and delicious fruits available in Costa Rica.

About Joe Pignatelli

Joe is an insurance broker and Liz works for a builder in Canada. They have been married for 39 years and have 3 children. Some of their interests include music, golf, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Joe Pignatelli purchased this house in 2010

Why Joe Pignatelli chose Alajuela Province

After looking at Florida, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, we felt that Costa Rica had so much more to offer. The country is so beautiful, and very easy to travel through. There are many micro climates to suit individual needs and an abundance of things to do. In 1949 the country abolished their army and invested all their money into education and health care, therefore they have a well educated and happy population. Recent surveys show that Costa Ricans are one of the happiest people in the world. Costa Rica has a very low crime rate compared to other countries in Central & South America. They also have a longer life expectancy because of the lifestyle they live - Pura Vida!

What makes this house unique

Our house is just 5 minutes from San Ramon, which is approximately 35 minutes west of the San Jose Airport, and is very central to everything. San Ramon has a hospital, university, shopping, churchs, movie theatres, and best of all, the weather is fabulous! Because San Ramon is 3500 ft. above sea level, the average daytime temperature all year round is 25 celcius, or 78 farenheit. Evenings are usually a little bit cooler, but very pleasant. There is no need to have air conditioning or heating in our home. If you are interested in some more heat, just drive 40 minutes west to the beach where the temperatures can reach 35 celcius plus. Our location is central to as many activities and attractions you can imagine. Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfall & Gardens, La Fortuna & Lake Arenal, San Luis Zip-Lining, Carera National Rainforest, Sarchi, Tortuga Island, and San Jose are all a reasonable drive away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I were blown away by the spectacular views from this home. Norman and Ana were wonderful. Norman took us to the grocery store before going to the house so we could cook meals in this fully equipped home. Rooms were perfectly decorated with comfortable beds. Loved the master bathroom rainfall shower. The house had plenty of towels, instructions on where to visit and a nice memory garden to leave something for the homeowners. We had a fabulous stay and would definitely go back!

Beautiful, Peaceful and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

The home is located in a gated community that is impeccably maintained. The gardens and waterfalls throughout are beautiful and the view from the private deck of the home is peaceful and great at night. The home is the best equipped, most comfortable and best maintained vacation home that we have ever stayed at in Costa Rica. We found wonderful places close by to go eat and there is a mini market just down the hill from the house. Also being so close to Highway 1 made our travels easy. Help was readily available if we needed it and internet and a phone was provided for our use. We hope to stay again next year.

Two Months close to Heaven

  • 5 of 5

I really want to find the words to describe these two incredible months that we stayed at Joe's Home, this place is located in the best community in San Ramon of Alajuela, it is close to everything and at the same time you can enjoy the privacy of a gated community in the mountains, we were impressed from the first day we were there, the sunsets that you can see from the living room window are a recreation of the sunsets that you will see from heaven, Amazing.

The house has everything you would need, and I meant "everything"

We spent two months in the house with my family of four, my two daughters 16 and 12 and they really enjoyed the place, we went for a short walks and they walked by themselves, security is not an issue.

our idea of been there is because we have plans to live in the area on the near future and this house was perfect for us.

I want to thanks Joe & Liz for treated us as a friends and let us rent their lovely place for such a long term. I am looking to rent in the future from you guys.

Thank you very much !! me and my family enjoyed a lot the piece of paradise you have !! I truly recommend this house for families, couples and small groups

There's a reason they call it "paradise."

  • 5 of 5

The home will spoil you. The view will inspire you. The location will provide you a home base central to an amazing number of activities and attractions in this lovely country. The neighbors and friends you meet will entice you to return. This place is truly lovely and lives well up to its description. Two couples, long-term friends, shared it for 10 days earlier this month and found it a perfect place to launch from and lounge in. Thanks to Joe & Liz, Ana & Norman, Alexa, and Wagner for your welcoming and wonderful spirits.

Definitely agree on your description of the central location of our home - one of the reasons we chose to be in San Ramon. Breathtaking beauty!

  • 5 of 5

Each and every day included a different sunrise and sunset that truly made us feel close to heaven. The rainfall, the sun breaking through the clouds, the animal noises, and the soothing feeling of silence, could all be experienced in any twenty four hour period. What a location. We met Ana and Norman and they were wonderful in helping us settle in, and in giving us suggestions for eating out, and site seeing. Thank you! We met Liz and Joe's neighbor, Susie, and she was wonderful and helpful. (our rental car battery went dead, and Susie gave us a jump start.) The house is beautiful on the inside, the balcony is large and accommodating, and the beds were very comfortable. Turn on your favorite cd for the stereo, sit back with some freshly made guacamole, a glass of wine, and some good friends, and you have paradise. Two restaurants that are close to the house are on highway one. We highly recommend them. El Mojito, and Don Quijote. El Mojito's food is Cubano, and Bernie and brother Dan run the restaurant. Don Quijote has wonderful corvina (sea bass) and great pastas. Ask for Mauricio. That be it. Highly recommend, Paul and Linda.

We loved our stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect!! The views are unbelievable!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!! The house itself was beautifully decorated inside, and had plenty of space for our family of 5! The house manager Ana was super nice, met us somewhere easy to get to and took us to the house. She showed us all around and how everything worked and assured us she was just down the road if we needed anything at all! I would without hesitation recommend this house, you will love it!
