The Vineyard Aerie is a beautifully decorated home perched on the top of a knoll with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and a hidden lake below the house. Nestled in the heart of the Alexander Valley, this five-acre country retreat is a perfect place to relax, cook with friends with the bounty from our garden, and return to after a day of wine tasting, shopping in Healdsburg, swimming in the Russian River, or water skiing on Lake Sonoma. The house is located within a peaceful 1,000+ acre reserve of private homes. Bald eagles, osprey, foxes and other wildlife abound. Geyserville, Sonoma Country's newest 'it' town, is just minutes away and features first-class restaurants, antique shops and tasting rooms within a charming two block downtown.

The house, accessible by an easy 10-minute drive from U.S. 101, is just off Highway 128, a favorite cycling route. It is five minutes from Geyserville, 15 minutes from Healdsburg, close to Lake Sonoma and within minutes of numerous vineyards and wineries, including Francis Coppola, Silver Oak, Ridge, Trione, Ferrari Carano and many more.

This contemporary home features a master bedroom with a queen pillow top bed and bath on the main floor, two bedrooms with queen pillow top beds and a bath on the upstairs floor, and downstairs is a separate bedroom retreat with three twin beds and a pillow top queen bed in an alcove. This area has a full bathroom with tub/shower and separate toilet area. Another king size bed with pillow top sits in the downstairs library. The house sleeps 12 comfortably.

The centerpiece of the house is a Great Room with spectacular views of the surrounding hills, a century-old ranch now part of an agricultural reserve, a lake and ancient oak trees. The kitchen is fully-equipped with professional cookware and numerous serving dishes and guests are invited to use the fruits, herbs and vegetables from the property's garden. (Depending on the season, there are apples, lemons, figs, raspberries, blackberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, pepper, eggplant, beets, lettuce and an herb garden). The inviting wood dining room table expands to fit a crowd and two nearby doors open up onto the expansive deck with gas barbecue. In the winter, visitors can gather around the fireplace in the living room, with its vaulted ceilings and glass wall opening to the outdoor views. There is even a piano on which to play and an office in which to write.

The home comes with many amenities: Wi-Fi and Internet access, a stereo system, and a TV and extensive video and DVD collection. There is DirectTV with WiFi connection. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer. Luxurious sheets and towels are provide.

Great family "find"!

  • 3 of 5

My family and I just returned from Geyserville. We loved the house which soon became our home. We had rented it so that we could get into Healdsburg...distance perfect. The size was terrific! Was ideal for our family...6 adults and 2 children. We could all be together but not on top of each other. Could have easily and comfortably fit more people. So much extra room. Loved the openness of the house. Great kitchen, and can't forget the porch/deck. What a beautiful vista, and the stars and moon at night were amazing. Easy to get around and were able to take advantage of surrounding areas. The owner was wonderful to deal with. She was full of info when asked and was very responsive. She helped us with anything we needed.

One downside...the house should have been much cleaner, the only reason it was given 3 stars instead of 5. It wasn't just a few dishes in the cabinets but also the general house.

Loved it all over again

  • 5 of 5

Our family group of eight stayed here two years ago and returned last week. I highly recommend the Aerie for a gathering. It's a few miles off the beaten track, quiet and secluded but close enough to be in some seriously good wineries in a matter of a few minutes. The home is well maintained, clean and beautifully furnished. The kitchen is large and well organized. The property manager is terrific and very responsive.

Unique Home

  • 3 of 5

This property is in a great setting in the country that provides a lot of peace and quiet. The views from the home of the countryside are fantastic and we saw deer roaming the property daily. There was plenty of space for our group of 9 and a couple of additional guests at dinner. The home is close to numerous wineries and a trip to Healdburg's grocery stores or restaurants was only about 15 minutes each way.

Unfortunately, this property has a few downsides. It may have been repaired since our visit, but the A/C was not functioning properly in July which we discovered only upon our arrival at the site. As a result, sleeping in the 2 upstairs bedrooms was difficult. The property also was in need of a few minor repairs, such as window screens, and was in desperate need of a thorough deep cleaning.

Overall, our group enjoyed our time at the site. However, our stay could have been enhanced even further if the condition of the property had met our expectations.

Owner's Response: It was very unfortunate that the A/C had to be replaced and wasn't able to be completed before guests arrived. The A/C, window screens and deep cleaning were all accomplished in July 2015. The house has undergone additional deep cleaning and organization since this review. Additional work to upgrade the deck was completed early in 2016. Guests should find the house in pristine condition in 2016. Other guest comments for the balance of 2015 were all positive showing that attention was paid to addressing guest comments in July.

Great Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Great, spacious house with plenty of room to spread out. Met up there with three other couples for a 45th birthday celebration. Great kitchen, open floor plan, big enough table to seat 12, awesome views....comfortable beds... two fireplaces....Good for families, name it.

Thanksgiving family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvelous family Thanksgiving in this spacious well equipped home located close to many wine makers, and only an hour and a half from San Francisco. Lots of comfortable spaces to hang out together or quiet individual moments with a good book. Fun family evenings playing board games in front of the fireplace. Good restaurants within 15 minute drive. Lovely views from deck and house. Loved listening to the Owls at night, watching deer, etc.
