About the property

SUMMER FUN! With lots of free outdoor concerts, hiking, canoeing and horseback riding, you'll keep the kids busy! We are 3 miles from Blowing Rock and 15 minute drive Boone, 20 minute drive to Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain and minutes away from Trout Lake (canoeing), Bass Lake and hiking at Moses Cone Park.

You will love this adorable 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin that sleeps 8, located off of Highway 221, just seven minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, NC. An open floor plan on the main floor allows for great entertaining with family and friends. The living room has a flat screen TV, wireless internet, Cable TV, Netflix, blueray player, and phone with unlimited long distance. The kitchen comes complete with coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher. A full size washer and dryer are located in the laundry room just off the kitchen, and two fireplaces keep your tootsies warm. And we recently added new flooring and updated bathroom.

Enjoy the screened porch or wrap around deck with a view of both the woods, and a local pond in the winter. And with 2 stone fireplaces, you stay cozy in colder weather. There is a Queen bed in the Master bedroom and two twin beds in the 2nd guest room on the main level, with a newly refitted bathroom.

The lower level includes the third queen-sized bedroom, a family room with it's own gas fireplace, cable TV, Netflix, and ROKU, a queen-sized sofa sleeper, a newly refurbished full bathroom and an office/play area. This area also has private access to the large back yard and lots of games, toys and activities for the family..

The cabin is great for two couples, or two families, each with their own living and sleeping areas, complete with TV and bath. Or the 'kids' can have the lower level to themselves while adults enjoy the main living area.

Come enjoy the summer fun including going to the Friday night bonfires at Chetola, or concerts on Friday night at the Ragged Gardens. Also, there are free concerts on Sunday evening in the Blowing Rock park - great play area for the kids and take your own goodies. We are just off Highway 221, a 7 minute drive into downtown Blowing Rock for ice cream, pizza, groceries, shopping, and great park for the kids.

Close to shopping, fine dining, skiing, horse-back riding, hiking and canoeing. A mere 1 mile to WestGlo spa for a luxury spa treatment. We are 2 miles from the Blueridge Parkway and 16 miles from Appalachian State University, the cabin is within easy access to many local attractions. Go mining for GEMS at Mystery Hill. Don't forget zip-linig at Seven Devil Hills. Grandfather Mountains offers mile-high hanging bridge, hiking trails, a close-up view of live mountain animals, with one of the largest Scottish Games event in the country. And Linville Falls is a 20 minute ride and is beautiful in both the summer and the winter. Moses Cone Park- a quick three miles away, offers numerous hiking trails, horse-back riding trails, and a craft center-open year round. About Todd

We love to travel (with our two Yorkies when possible). VRBO has provided us with wonderful places in Greece, Maine, London, Pacific Northwest and San Francisco. After visiting the Boone/Blowing Rock area for the past 20 years, we are lucky to have a true 'log cabin' to call our own- and to share with you. Enjoy.

Todd purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Todd chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

Ahh - as soon as you walk in the cabin you feel relaxed - calm- at ease. We have furnished our cabin with tasteful furnishings. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking, baking, blending and even a quesadilla maker. The master bedroom is furnished in French Toille, while the twin bedroom has antique white iron beds and fun 'blue-jean' theme. Bathrooms have been renovated in 2012. The lower level is great as a 'kids' area. If two couples or families share the unit, each family can have a 'separate' floor with their own private entrance, bath, sleeping quarters and family room with fireplace and TV. Enjoy hiking or horseback riding, then wash clothes in the full sized washer/dryer so you can go white-water rafting, GEM mining, or visit Linville Caverns the next day. Blowing Rock has kept it's mountain village charm, yet has great boutique shops, a variety of restaurants from ice cream shop to The Mellow Mushroom pizza to fine dining. And only 7 minutes away!

Or go hiking all day, and come back to cook some dinner on the gas grill - or enjoy a glass of wine while rocking in the screened porch. The wrap around deck make you feel like your are cacooned in a treehouse - quiet - calm - ahh- you are home.

What makes this cabin unique

Two fireplaces, cozy furnishings, close to Blowing Rock, yet still in the woods. Very EASY access - no steep mountain road to get into or out of the cabin. Want to enjoy Merlefest - we are only 30 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Came with our children for the spring holiday as we had heard about the cabin from a family member. The cabin is great, lots of toys for the kids, and child-proof dishes, etc. The cabin was very clean, well-stocked, and loved having washer/dryer. There are so many things for kids to do. Don't forget to take them to the park in Blowing Rock - they went wild.

We would come again

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I had an excellent time at the Hodge Lodge last weekend. The cabin was clean and well stocked, and served as an excellent home-base for our mountain weekend away. I plan on returning in the future and would recommend to anyone considering this location.

Owner's Response: Sarah, Thank you so much for chosing Hodge Lodge for your weekend visit to Blowing Rock in March. I apologize for the very late thank you! We appreciate your comments. We try very hard to keep Hodge Lodge clean and cozy - to provide our visitors a mountain feeling and ambience, but with modern conveniences. We sincerely appreciate that you chose to stay in our little mountain haven. Regards, Linda Hodge
