WINTER FUN! Blowing Rock Winter Festival Jan 26-29!!! Watch Polar Plunge or ice sculpting. Or take the kids SKIING or SNOW-TUBING! We are 3 miles from Blowing Rock and 15 minute drive to Appalachian Ski Mountain. Seven Devil Hills for snow-tubing is 25 minutes, and within 30 minutes you have Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain for more skiing. We are off a local highway that MUST be cleared for emergency vehicles, and the road to the cabin is very flat. We have a RAV4 with front wheel drive and have never gotten stuck, even in a new snowfall of 8 inches. We also have the drive cleared for more than 3 inches of snow. Of course, to be safe, 4 wheel drive is best!

You will love this adorable 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin that sleeps 8, located off of Highway 221, just seven minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, NC. An open floor plan on the main floor allows for great entertaining with family and friends. The living room has a flat screen TV, wireless internet, Cable TV, Netflix, blueray player, and phone with unlimited long distance. The kitchen comes complete with coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher. A full size washer and dryer are located in the laundry room just off the kitchen, and two fireplaces keep your tootsies warm. And we recently added new flooring and updated bathroom.
Enjoy snuggling up in a blanket on the screened porch or wrap around deck with a view of both the woods, and a local pond in the winter. And with 2 stone fireplaces, you stay cozy in colder weather. There is a Queen bed in the Master bedroom and two twin beds in the 2nd guest room on the main level, with a newly refitted bathroom.
The lower level includes the third queen-sized bedroom, a family room with it's own gas fireplace, cable TV, Netflix, and ROKU, a queen-sized sofa sleeper, a newly refurbished full bathroom and an office/play area. This area also has private access to the large back yard and lots of games, toys and activities for the family..
The cabin is great for two couples, or two families, each with their own living and sleeping areas, complete with TV and bath. Or the 'kids' can have the lower level to themselves while adults enjoy the main living area.
Come enjoy the winter fun including going to the Friday night bonfires at Chetola, attending the Blowing Rock Winter Festivals, or skiing, snow-tubing and skating. We are just off Highway 221, a 7 minute drive into downtown Blowing Rock for ice cream, pizza, groceries, shopping, and great park for the kids.
Close to shopping, fine dining, skiing, horse-back riding, hiking and canoeing. A mere 1 mile to WestGlo spa for a luxury spa treatment. We are 2 miles from the Blueridge Parkway and 16 miles from Appalachian State University, the cabin is within easy access to many local attractions. Go mining for GEMS at Mystery Hill. We love to travel (with our two Yorkies when possible). VRBO has provided us with wonderful places in Greece, Maine, London, Pacific Northwest and San Francisco. After visiting the Boone/Blowing Rock area for the past 20 years, we are lucky to have a true 'log cabin' to call our own- and to share with you. Enjoy.
Todd purchased this cabin in 2012
Ahh - as soon as you walk in the cabin you feel relaxed - calm- at ease. We have furnished our cabin with tasteful furnishings. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking, baking, blending and even a quesadilla maker. The master bedroom is furnished in French Toille, while the twin bedroom has antique white iron beds and fun 'blue-jean' theme. Bathrooms have been renovated in 2012. The lower level is great as a 'kids' area. If two couples or families share the unit, each family can have a 'separate' floor with their own private entrance, bath, sleeping quarters and family room with fireplace and TV. Enjoy hiking or horseback riding, then wash clothes in the full sized washer/dryer so you can go white-water rafting, GEM mining, or visit Linville Caverns the next day. Blowing Rock has kept it's mountain village charm, yet has great boutique shops, a variety of restaurants from ice cream shop to The Mellow Mushroom pizza to fine dining. And only 7 minutes away!
Or go hiking all day, and come back to cook some dinner on the gas grill - or enjoy a glass of wine while rocking in the screened porch. The wrap around deck make you feel like your are cacooned in a treehouse - quiet - calm - ahh- you are home.
Two fireplaces, cozy furnishings, close to Blowing Rock, yet still in the woods. Very EASY access - no steep mountain road to get into or out of the cabin. Want to enjoy Merlefest - we are only 30 minutes away.
This is the third year we rented Hodge Lodge and loved it. It is very clean and owner has gone over and above to furnish everything needed - no scrimping on kitchen items, hair-dryers, blankets and pillows, etc. Owner has decorated nicely with a blend of antiques and traditional furnishings, just quaint enough to feel like a cabin without being kitchy or old-fashioned. We loved having coffee and wine on the screened in porch. And you are so close to the sky, you can touch the stars! Don't hesitate to rent!
I had an excellent time at the Hodge Lodge last weekend. The cabin was clean and well stocked, and served as an excellent home-base for our mountain weekend away. I plan on returning in the future and would recommend to anyone considering this location.
Local attractions: White Water Rafting, Grandfather Mountain, hiking and waterfall at Linville Falls, Appalachian State University in Boone, Zip-lining and snow tubing at Seven Devil Hills, Appalachian and Sugar Mountain Skiing, Jefferson State Park,Tweetsie Railroad, GEM Mining, Blowing Rock playhouse and Mast General Store. Like a Spa? WestGlow Spa is 1 mile away and rated in the Top 10 Spa's in the U.S. by Travel Leisure magazine.
