My family and I had a wonderful time in this Amelia-Island condo. The kitchen was equipped with toaster, blender, pots and pans coffee maker, and enough dishes and glasses for every need. There were fun fish- shaped dishes and mugs with sailboats and nautical themes to add to the atmosphere. The only thing we couldn't find was a pizza cutter but there were plenty of new, sharp knives to use instead. The condo was clean and the ocean decor added to it's charm. The view in the master bedroom was amazing. Waking up and looking directly out at the Atlantic ocean was a relaxing and awe-inspiring way to start the day. We loved the easy walk to the beach. The board walk was being worked on. It didn't bother us but maybe could be noted for guests renting during the rebuilding. It is nice to see they take care of the property. It is a nice place to come with a family. There were other renters but it was not noisy. I was looking for a quiet non-spring-breaker area and this beach was all of that. There were definitely people enjoying the beach but it was never so crowded that you could not enjoy yourself . It was a nice mix of families, some college kids and others of all ages. The only suggestions I would make for the condo are to maybe have a working grill and a few extra chairs for the patio area. They were just a few things that would have added to the condo but not a big deal. We did have beach chairs to use and my daughter was thrilled that there was a boogie board in the outside storage area! I would recommend renting this condo!
The condo was clean and decorated with beach/nautical theme. The beach view is beautiful and I liked the choice of minimalist window coverings (we kept windows uncovered the whole time). We never prepared a meal, however the kitchen looks very well equipped. I noticed some of the units had outdoor grills (this one does not). The refrigerator is adequate; it had 3 ice cube trays in freezer which I filled each day to make ice.
We appreciated the free wi-fi; we never turned on either TV. We enjoyed the easy parking (in covered carport) which makes it fast to load/unload and not waste time on elevators etc… The stairs were not an issue at all for us.
While a boardwalk to the beach is located very close to this unit, it was closed during our 4 night stay. A carpenter was replacing it and so at 7:45am we heard the electric saw and hammering which lasted all day. (There is another walkway at the far end of the row of townhouses).
The master bedroom had 2 chairs and small plastic table on it (which are new and don’t appear in the pictures on VRBO). The bed has a soft mattress and we woke up each morning with backaches (which my husband and I never have). He slept in the spare room one night and said it was the same. The mattresses appear to have a lot of age on them; there are foam pads on top which tends to slip off the corners and needed adjusting each morning. The sheets and bedding look pretty old but usable.
The upside is the location on the island can’t be beat, the view of the ocean is awesome and the property manager, Amy, was very easy to work with. The downside was loud hammering and uncomfortable beds. If this condo is updated with new mattresses and bedding, I would give it 5 stars, tell all my friends about it, and make this our Amelia Island getaway house.
Absolutely great place on the Atlantic Ocean at a reasonable price. We could not have asked for a better set up for our family getaway. Boardwalk to beach was just outside the doorway. The place was clean, well kept, and modern. Electric stove was a challenge for us only because we are used to gas burners. Some dinners were extra crispy until we got used to it. Balcony from upstairs gave fabulous view of ocean/beach. We saw many ships, wildlife, a few Whale spouts and hundreds of porpoises cruising along the shoreline. Bring your binoculars for great closeups. The condo was supplied with everything we needed. It was quiet with little noticeable noise from adjoining condos. Renters should be aware that there are stairways up into the main floor from the parking area. Then there are stairways up to the two bedrooms from the main floor where the two bathrooms are located. So, if you have difficulty with stairs? It appears to be typical of the beachfront condos throughout the area. The TV only tuned into about 10 stations but we were not there to watch TV and our Network News & CNN were available. Our contact person was right on the spot after one phone call when we had a little difficulty getting in. I have been to Florida before and did not really enjoy the area but Amelia Island is indeed different. We totally enjoyed our stay and plan on returning. There is lots to do and see. We sat and walked on the beach, visited Old Town, found good restaurants, there was a good grocery store was within a couple miles, visited Fort Clinch, watched fisherman surf fish, read books and just relaxed. Some folks drove their vehicles onto the beach but they were considerate and we had no problems with that activity. We have no complaints what-so-ever. The last day we were there, they were working on replacing the aging boardwalk. Communications with our contact person were excellent and promptly responded to. I highly recommend this place.
My mom, sister and I rented the unit for our annual weekend trip to the island. It was very comfortable, nicely stocked kitchen and perfect location to the beach. Great views and it felt very private. We will certainly return .
We have been vacationing on Amelia island for many years. This is the first time we have used VRBO and the first time we have stayed on the south end of the island. The condo we stayed at was 20 feet from the boardwalk leading to the beach. Even though there were several condos in the same building it felt very private. There was no noise coming through the walls of the occupied condos on either side of us. The condo was very well decorated and the kitchen was stocked with any utensils you might need during your stay. The A.C. worked great. Overall, the condo met or exceeded my expectations. Only con I can think of: The beds in both bedrooms were small and would be nice if upgraded to a queen or king size.
My husband and I loved the condo unit. The view of the ocean was breathtaking when you walked in and immediately put you in a relaxation mode. I was even more pleasantly surprised at the lovely view of the beach from the master bedroom. What a vista to wake up to every morning! The unit was very clean and was well stocked with beach towels, chairs, books, and anything you could need in the kitchen. It was also steps to the beach and within a short drive to most restaurants. The only drawback was that driving was allowed on the beach in front of the condo. I probably wouldn't recommend for families with small children, but for adults, it should be fine. It was an excellent spot for a weekend getaway. Would definitely stay there again. I would also like to add that the property manager was very courteous and timely in answering questions and booking our stay.
