This is Gavin Parsons Homes Ltd personal winter ski home.
We have been building homes on Silver Star Mountain for twenty five years, including two townhouse projects, a condominium and over thirty homes. This is our third winter home on Silver Star. We learned to ski on the mountain and our children spent the winters there. They both were ski instructors at one time. We have located our home in what we think is the brightest area and best ski access location on the mountain.
Gavin Parsons purchased this chalet in 2012
Alpine Meadows, the former mid-T ski area, is the best ski in/out residential area on Silver Star Mountain. Our property backs on the Christmas Bowl/shute runs. We have years of building and skiing experience and know that when skiing, chalet location is everything.
A newer executive home with all the amenities and the best location, .
We just rented this home for 8 days over Christmas. We live in CA but are originally from the Okanagan and our families still reside there. We are a family of 4 and our retired parents joined us as at this home. This house is very comfortably furnished and we loved the ski out option from his home. Our retired parents who no longer ski enjoyed watching the people skiing and snow boarding from the living room window and from the hot tub. The views are truly beautiful from this home. Our retired parents enjoyed the walk down to the village and back each day. My two boys, ages 8 and 10, who just learned to ski last year at Silver Star last year, loved their bunk beds and also the TV room in the lower area of the house. There were a few items broken/missing in the kitchen and we let the owner know about this items on the day we were checking out and he informed us they were promptly replaced that day. All of family members commented about what a relaxing stay they had a this home. We would definitely recommend this home!
Our family spent the new year at this wonderful home. The house had all we needed, the kitchen was fully equipped allowing us to cook almost every meal in. We would ski in for lunch and ski back out for the rest of the day. Being from Hawaii, our kids had so much fun learning to ski, going to tube town, skating, snowmobiling, and even just playing in the snow outside the house using the sled provided in the garage. There was lot of space for all our ski and snowboard gear and the house had plenty of room for kids to run and play (they also loved the bunk beds). The fire place and hot tub were perfect after long days outside in the cold. The view was spectacular from both the front and back of the home. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We hope to be back again next year.
This tastefully appointed home was perfect for our family's Easter ski vacation. The kitchen was gourmet and well equipped. The open kitchen-bar-dining and living room layout made it easy for all of us to cook, clean, eat and socialize all together in one space on one of several floors. It was spacious enough for entertaining additional friends staying elsewhere who joined us in the evening. Contrary to another reviewer I found the kitchen spacious enough to share with fellow cooks.
The bedrooms are so spread out over the home - a lot of people can stay here and not feel on top of one another. This is a great property for two families - or families with teenagers/college kids because of separate tv room and bar attached to downstairs guest rooms with additional bathrooms and a separate entrance.
The best feature was the ski in ski out location at the bottom of the 'Shute' ski run and above the village. We all enjoyed the hot-tub with the spectacular hillside view. We didn't get any of the night time reveler noise we experienced when we stayed nearer the village in a town home.
We had the grandparents with us who struggled a little with the steep stairs - but that was the only downside. Our non skiing guests 55+ were glad they had a vehicle as it is a rigorous walk between village and house. This was private and quiet in new development. Skiing to the village from the house was easy.
The bonus was that our host met us at the house to help us settle in and made us feel very welcome.
We stayed here with 2 families with small children and loved it. Our host was very hospitable and helpful. The house was clean and well maintained with great spaces for visiting and privacy. There was plenty of space for gear. During the week we downhill skied, x-county skied, went tubing at tube town, enjoyed many dinners in and at the village and played lots of board games. Everything we needed was right there and we skied right out the door. It felt like home away from home. We would definitely love to return for another visit.
Great location on the mountain. Great view from dining room table. We are all enthusiastic cooks - kitchen a tad tight. Would be fine for most people's cooking.
We, had a great time at this property as a family of 6 adults, a 3 year-old and an infant. I organised the trip from the UK but sorting things out with Gavin were simple and efficient. The property was spacious with everything you would need for a good holiday. The hot tub deck overlooks the ski slope. Gavin helpfully provided a sled which was great for transporting our grandson up and down the slope to the village and also for a bit of fun on the slopes. It is a decent but pleasant walk back uphill from the village - there is a shuttle if you don't fancy the walk. The resort (Monday to Friday) was pleasantly quiet and the facilities for a small resort were good. Snow was also good! A pleasant trip!
Silver Star Mountain Resort is one of Western Canada'a best winter vacation resorts. Consistent powder snow conditions from November to April. The mountain offers 2,500 vertical feet of skiing with 120 groomed runs from beginner to double black diamond. There is also extensive groomed cross country trails on Silver Star or at the nearby Sovereign Lakes Nordic area.
