****NOW is the time to rent. We're offering some good deals for March dates - call me for more information. We have lots of dates available between now and July. Spring and early summer are the best times to stay at the Lodge.
***If you love the idea of your family and friends visiting, cooking, playing or just being together in a large, comfortable, quiet home, the Butte Creek Canyon Lodge is the place for you! The Lodge is a beautiful 5000 square feet home located in a serene canyon 15 minutes from Chico. If you want to be together you can; if you want privacy, you can have that too.
**Family Friendly - we now provide a Graco Travel Lite Crib - bring your own linens.
**We have a cool HORSESHOE PIT in the meadow next to the lodge! Ready to make some spinners or sparks off the peg? There's also plenty of room in the meadow to set up a volleyball net or disc golf cage.
****We provide linens and towels. The Lodge has a washer and dryer for your use.
The Lodge and Bungalow sit on 5 acres of beautiful natural canyon land. The house was modeled after lodge style houses in Lake Tahoe with large log posts and river rock walls decorating the fireplaces. It's a very family friendly, beautiful 4 bedroom home plus an attached private 1 bedroom bungalow that can easily accommodate 12 + guests.
While the Lodge is fully equiped for an extended family vacation, the Bungalow is perfect for a single or couples romantic gettaway. The Bungalow has a microwave and small refridgerator, walk in shower and king size bed.
The Lodge is perfect for family reunion or a relaxing place to stay after a wedding, baby or wedding shower or other group gatherings. It has 2 large kitchens, 5 bathrooms with 3 walk-in showers, 2 jetted soaking bathtubs, 2 wood burning stoves, 3 zone full house heating and air conditioning, a game room with ping-pong table, and a large deck with spectacular views of Butte Creek Canyon. Another deck overlooks Butte Creek for hanging out watching for Bald Eagles, osprey, otters, beaver, salmon, wild turkeys, or even the occasional bear. We built a safe set of stairs so you can easily walk down to Butte Creek and swim where Chinook salmon congregate during the summer. The Lodge is an easy 15 minute drive into Chico. There are plenty of recreational opportunities available including hiking, road and mountain biking, swimming, tubing, snorkeling or just relaxing by the creek. The Centerville Museum and the historic Honey Run Covered Bridge are nearby.
**If you would like to rent my property, please contact me (the owner) directly by phone before you send any money.
Laura and I are retired therapists who worked as school and college counselors and in private practice for over 30 years. We have lived in our house nearby for over 20 years. While the vacation rental is completely private, living nearby helps us provide more security for our guests and affords a personal response to requests.
Max George purchased this lodge in 2011
This is a unique and beautiful property on Butte Creek. We love the natural setting of Butte Creek Canyon while being able to drive to Chico in 15 minutes. It's serene and quiet. The Lodge is a large home - a great place for family and friends to stay together.
It's quiet except for the sound of the creek flowing around the bend.
We had an amazing time at The Lodge! We were celebrating my Mom's 80th birthday and some of the attendees had a history of having lived in Butte Creek Canyon, so we knew how nice it could be on Butte Creek. The house was well appointed with plenty of room for all and lots to do in and around the property. This included among others, ping-pong, horseshoes, frisbee disc practice, wildlife and bird viewing, and then there is the creek. Even though it was October, some of the hardier (or crazier) among us took a dip every day we were there with a splash contest our last day there. In the hotter months, the creek would a godsend, and when (and if) it does start to rain, this place would be an amazing home base for white water kayakers. The owner, Max, is right next door if needed but was not in the least bit intrusive. He was very helpful during the booking process and worked with us to ensure that we were happy with our potential stay. The only thing that may be an issue for some people is the lack of connectivity for devices, we had a few of our people that had phone service and that was plenty as far as I was concerned. there is also no TV reception, cable or satellite. I myself enjoyed not being connected for awhile, made it seem like a welcome vacation from the real world.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful, kitchen is well stocked, beds are very comfortable, plenty of towels, linen, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. We always bring extra with us, and was very pleased to see the abundance of supplies in the home. Would love to rent this home again!
I just wanted to say that this place is lovely, and so is Max! And, the location couldn't be more peaceful or gorgeous!
We had a group of 15 people coming into town for a wedding at Centerville Estates. The ages ranged from 9 months to 79 years old and we needed a place we could all be together but also have space, and we found it here. The ease of flow between the deck and dining/kitchen area was perfect since the majority of the time we congregated in the kitchen area. The weather was perfect when we were there so we really enjoyed the decks, both by the house and by the river. A few of the guys even ventured into the water for a swim. Max was very easy to work with and the house is everything he says it is and more. We would definitely rent this house again.
Rented this house for our annual family Xmas trip. Such a fantastic and spacious house the pictures posted here do not do it justice. Our family/extended family has gone on a Christmas cabin trip such as this for the past 5+ years and this one definitely belongs on the top tier if not the best of the houses we have been to.
Plenty of room, 2 full kitchens, and a gorgeous backyard space with a creek made it a fantastic getaway. No one wanted to leave and everyone is very eager to come back to this house in the summer months if available. Also, Max the owner is very friendly and courteous to work with. All in all, there's a reason why this property is rated 5 stars and I highly recommend it.
My daughter got married up the road at Centerville Estates. I was a great place to stay for 2 nights. Out of town family stayed and got to visit. I am so glad I found Butte Creek Lodge. The owners are fab and very helpful. The place was stocked with things you might forget at home.
My family wants to go back when we can really enjoy the place.. We were at the wedding sight most of the time. thank you Max for sharing you lodge.
This property is located in Butte Creek Canyon in the foothills of the Cascades a 15 minute drive to Chico. There is a year round large creek that runs through it. Butte Creek supports the largest run of wild, naturally spawned Spring Run Chinook Salmon in California,' according to the Friends of Butte Creek. In September, the Wild and Scenic Film Festival is held in the Sierra Nevada Brewery Big Room. October is the time to see the Salmon spawn in Butte Creek. Catch and release fishing in allowed only from February through April - see the Department of Fish and Game for details. Butte Creek Canyon is rich in gold mining history - The Coleman Museum in Centerville is about 1 mile from the property and has an excellent collection of gold mining memorabilia and Maidu Indian artifacts. The Honey Run Covered Bridge was built in 1884 and is the only 3-level covered bridge left in the US. The canyon is filled with wildlife: ubiquitous deer, beaver, otter, bear, mountain lion, bobcat, Chinook salmon, all kinds of birds including wild turkey, bald eagle, blue heron, duck, and osprey. If you like to kayak a mild to moderate running creek, kayaking in the winter is especially popular. Summertime is the best for a 3 hour tubing ride form the property to the Honey Run Covered Bridge. It's a blast to swim with the salmon with your mask and snorkel in the swimming hole in front of the house.
