About Glen or Dorothy Reiner

We have lived on Lake Miltona for 10 years and currently have our real estate business in our home. We also buy, renovate and rent lake homes. Originally from southern Mn, we have lived in the area for over 30 years. We enjoy sharing our home with others and have always been pleased with how our guests care for our home during their stay. We welcome families for their gatherings small and large. We love our neighbors and they will enjoy seeing you vacation here, so we ask that you are respectful of them as well. We cannot allow pets at all since we have a member of our family with extreme allergies. Of course, no smoking. We will not accommodate bachelor or bachelorette parties.

Why Glen or Dorothy Reiner chose Minnesota

Our home was designed for entertaining at the lake. We come from large families so we built this to share with others. We hope you will come and enjoy this property when it isn't in use by our family. Our main home is located nearby in case you need anything. This home is new, but was designed to feel like an old time lake home. Hopefully, the minute you enter you will feel like you have stepped back in time and will relax and enjoy the lake as you would have in days gone by.the home features large gathering areas including a great room open to the kitchen, a large 11x36 4 season room that is converted to a scrap booking or quilting area from Sept-May. The kids will love the built in European style bunkbeds! There is also a screen porch that overlooks the lake and is one of the best napping spots in the world. There is a copper clad wood-burning fireplace, deck, large shady lawn and awesome sandy beach. The rental is by the week from June through August and available for 3 day weekends throughout the remainder of the year for retreats. We can accommodate up to 14 quilters or scrapbookers with individual tables, special lighting and more. Lake Miltona is one of the finest lakes in the area known for fabulous fishing, clean water and every kind of water sport. Within a short distance you will find Carlos State Park, bike trails. downhill skiing, antiquing, live summer theatre, many opportunities to enjoy local musicians, a award winning local winery and so much more. Lake Miltona is also known as an excellent ice fishing lake and the snowmobile trail is nearby. The slogan for Alexandria is 'Easy to get to, hard to leave' Come stay and we think you will agree.

What makes this house unique

The things most people love about our home is the warm and welcoming feel the minute they walk in the door. It is new, but has the look and feel of a charming old lake home. The great room provides space to gather for a meal or visit with a small or large number of people around the beautiful copper faced fireplace which features huge antique beams. There are also lots of places to get away and read a book or just enjoy the summer breeze. Across the road is a picturesque farm with a small lake that provides awesome pictures of sunsets. Out front you have shade, beautiful sunrises and lots of sand. You might even want to bring your boat or pontoon and enjoy a leisurely tour of the amazing 5800 acre lake and stop by the sand bar where dozens of people gather to play volleyball and mingle in crystal clear water with sand that looks and feels like the ocean. Once again, the easy accessibility of this home makes this an easy place for everyone to visit. Looking forward to meeting you

Booking again next year!!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 19 had a great stay on Lake Miltona. Glen/Dorothy's home was very spacious and accommodating for all of us. We had ages from 9 months to over 55 years old. The bedrooms in the back were very private and quiet for the babies to sleep and for anyone else who may have needed a nap. The kitchen set up was clean had everything we needed to make meals for our group. The large kitchen/living room plus the TV room was very accommodating for all of us. We had one rain day and everyone seemed to fit just comfortably in this home. The spacious lake level yard was great for yard games, grilling, campfires and watching the kids spend time in the water or on the dock fishing. Adequate parking for 7-8 vehicles, probably more. A Campground is right next door that offers ice and bait plus a public boat landing to launch our boat. Lake Miltona is a great lake for fishing and boating. I highly recommend Glen/Dorothy's home for families or large groups. We have been doing a family vacation for about 5 years and agree that this has been our best stay so far. We plan to rebook for next year.

Cozy for a Chilly Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We spent our 10 year college reunion together here. Though the weather was quite cool, the living room/kitchen area was large enough for all 11 of us to comfortably enjoy a weekend of games, cooking, and conversation. Very cozy. Highly recommend. Great kitchen set up. Good fishing off the dock. Clean and comfortable. Good correspondence with owners when we had questions.

Second Time Around Just as Enjoyable as the First!

  • 5 of 5

We returned for a second year to Lake Miltona and Dorothy/Glen's rental lake home. And our second year was just as enjoyable as the first - mostly due to Dorothy and Glen's flexibility and their desire to ensure we enjoy our stay in their lake home. The property is perfect for our large multi-generational extended family with it's spread out design and spaciousness allowing different activities to be happening in different parts of the home. The lake is perfect for fishing and boating. We bring our boat plus take advantage of the rental pontoon that is available with the property. We also enjoy the large lakeside yard area with fire pit and the play equipment which the 'under 10' crowd that came made full use of during our stay. We are already making plans to return for a third year to Lake Miltona and this rental lake home in 2015!

BEST FAMILY SPACE LAYOUT EVER!!

  • 5 of 5

Our large multi generational family enjoyed a week at this wonderful rental. Best layout for this type of reunion because the bedroom areas are COMPLETELY separated from the living areas, so babies and nappers were able to sleep as needed without disturbance. The yard, dock, lake, and amenities were as pictured, with clear water and nice sand beach for the diggers. Fishing from the dock was a highlight for the little ones as everyone caught something using bobber/worm method! The kitchen was super well stocked with cooking utensils though a bit disorganized, and the large roaster was a great find for our group of 20+.

Our only slightly negative comment is that the cleaning was a bit below what we expected; found dirty dishes in dish washer, coffee grounds still in pot, and a few other items such as missing screens and windows which were pretty well covered on the outside with flies/gnats that we would have liked to open (I might be a bit overly picky here as I used to clean cabins for a living and buggy exteriors were a pet peeve of my employer).

We enjoyed a trip to local winery, golfed several local courses, and toured the area some, but found the relaxation and serene lake to be more to our liking. I would recommend this property to extended families wanting to spend some time together, but maybe a bit hesitant to put everyone under the same roof. The food preparation and meal seating areas were ample, the number of areas for privacy, the amount of yard space and activities creates enough separation and yet interaction to provide a memorable vacation for all. Overall this was a very great find, and we hope to utilize it again and again for our family Christmas in August celebration.

Thank you Dorothy and Glen for this opportunity and for answering my numerous email questions prior to our visit. We appreciated your replies and your hospitality! Hope to see you next year ... another baby will be accompanying us!!!

Owner's Response: So sorry about the cleaning issues. We will pass this on to our cleaning people. They are usually quite particular, so we'll see what happened. Also, sorry about the gnat etc on the screens. We just go a new power washer so hopefully that issue will be covered as well. We welcome phone calls during our guests' stay. If there are any concerns and we will take care of them immediately. Our goal is to have totally positive reviews, so please call with any concerns if you stay again. Thank you. Glen and Dorothy

Another Wonderful Experience!!!

  • 5 of 5

What more can I say about Dorothy and Glen’s wonderful vacation home. This is year two and we could have been happier. This home is set up so well and meets our family needs (family of 16) perfectly. We enjoyed the lake and beach every day and when the occasional rain came there was plenty to keep us busy inside or just get away and have some down time. The kids love the bunk bed set up and the TV room was again nice to keep the conversation going in the family room. We could be happier to have found this home and we are already talking about next year and the things to do. Last year we found the nice little ice cream shop and beautiful park in Parkers Prairie and this year we made a short trip to Casey’s Amusement park and enjoyed the bumper boat, go karts and mini golf. We hope to enjoy this home for many years to come. Thank you Dorothy and Glen for you hospitality.
