Darlene and I are true locals having grown up in Ouray and Ridgway.
We spent our early married years in the Denver area and after 10 yrs. decided that we wanted to leave the fast paced urban lifestyle and return to a more tranquil mountain setting. Ridgway was the perfect choice.
We have been knocking around the southwest for 30 years now and have extensive knowledge of SW Colorado and also Utah, Arizona and New Mexico.
We are people oriented and enjoy sharing our knowledge of the hidden gems of the southwest with others.
As much as we love the natural beauty of the area we also feel lucky to live in a community with a very diverse mix of great people.
We wake up every day thankful for where we live.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this studio in 1992
We purchased this property in 1990 when we discovered it located in the old historic residential district of Ridgway. It had never been built upon and had old growth trees and shrubs throughout. We knew that it would be perfect for a private cottage style home to be situated on .
The grounds have nice areas for lounging, reading or cocktails. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe with little traffic.
We are located 2 blocks from the Historic Business District which includes Kates Resturant (voted #1 in Ridgway) 2 blocks from The Colorado Boy Brewpub, well known for it's great brews and Pizzas and is a spirited locals hangout. Also close by is the new Sherbino Theatre being renovated for film and live music.
We are located 45 minutes from Telluride and its world class ski area. Telluride is also known for its year round festivals. Bluegrass, Blues & Brews, Jazz and Film to name a few.
Ouray Colorado 'The Switzerland of America' is 15 minutes south and has fantastic hiking, biking, ice climbing and soaking in it's hot springs pool. The outdoor activities are endless in this area. Come and enjoy.
I was lucky enough to get a full month in this PERFECT Cottage for a Telluride ski trip. First of all, the Cottage is perfect for 1 or 2 people for a few nights or an extended stay as I had. Everything has been thought out and utilizes every inch of this beautiful dwelling. Built over a garage, which is great in the winter especially, with xtra amenities including a washer/dryer, extra fridge and a deep freeze, along with extra storage. From the garage into a mudroom entrance is more storage and steps leading up to an amazing living space. The bed is a Queen size and I probably had the best 30 nights of sleep ever on it!! Lots of very comfortable pillows too. Two large drawers at the base of the hand made bed are roomy enough for more clothes than I needed for even 30 days. There is a nice size table for dining in or laptops...etc and a small but VERY efficient kitchen. I cooked several large meals while I was there and with a 2 burner stove (an xtra portable burner is also available) a convection type toaster oven, microwave and a toaster, the 2 mini fridges, a large electric skillet, pots and pans, a blender, small crock pot, plenty of glasses, dinnerware and ALL sorts of utensils, not to mention a full array of spices and seasonings, you can cook up a storm if you desire. If you would rather leave the cooking to someone else, there are several very nice restaurants in Ridgway only a short walk away. The bathroom has room to hang clothes under a large countertop and a GREAT shower with all the water pressure you want. The vaulted ceiling which includes a nice sky light, gives the room a much larger feel and even allows for a nice little extra, a small loft sits above the bathroom and is a nice enjoyable space. Believe me, you can set up shop for two people for an extended stay very easy in this perfect location! It is immaculately kept also!
Secondly, as everyone has said, Bob & Darlene are without doubt, the best hosts you will ever have! As many have said, I too feel like I made a lasting friendship with these two. We went to concerts at the Sherbino together as we share the same love of all sorts of music. Talked about area history and events, met many of their great friends and I even skied with Bob and several friends on two occasions. In short, I didn't feel like I was a 1300 miles from home all alone, but with longtime friends.
I look forward to returning to this fantastic place in the future and rate it a TEN on a scale of 1 to 5!!!!!
We loved staying here and definitely plan on returning. Beautiful apartment and friendly hosts! The kitchen was well stocked for whatever your cooking requires. Bed was incredibly comfortable and the town was adorable with great food! Thank you for such a wonderful time!
Our accommodation was a beautiful and immaculate garage apartment, which contained everything we needed and more during the 30 days we were there. Bob and Darlene Mann, our adventuresome hosts, grew up in Ridgway and Ouray; because they shared many of their experiences with us and mapped out the directions to places of unusual beauty, we took in more gorgeous scenery than we would have if we hadn't had their input.
We booked this rental when my parents came to visit. The space was exactly what we were looking for-clean, unique, comfortable, adorable, and convenient. Thank you Bob & Darline.
The stone house cottage was the perfect retreat for my husband and me. It was cozy, well appointed, clean and charming. Every inch of the cottage was well utilized. Bob and Darlene became our friends and we feel so lucky to have met and stayed at their cottage. The town is full of history, charm, and friendly folks. You can walk to the pub, shoppes, and several great restaurants. After just one week there we felt like part of the community. You will want to move there once you visit. Can't say enough good about the experience, magical and life changing. Don't delay your visit!!!
The owners are interested in your time there by suggesting hikes, fishing, drives, and local events. We were quite pleased with the carriage house! It was quaint, exceptionally clean, and came with the garage below. The side patio was wonderful for morning coffee, and there were a variety of birds.
