Gite Soie is a self contained gite/cottage with 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4. The interior living area of Gite Soie is smaller than Gite Tourelle, with only sufficient room (10.5m2) for a 2 seater couch, 4 seater dining table and an open plan kitchen unit (sink, 2 ring hob, fridge and microwave). However, in summer most guests enjoy eating outside and there is also an adjoining shady corner with seating for relaxation. Bedrooms are accessed by an open plan staircase and have exposed wooden beams. The main bedroom has a double bed and small balcony overlooking the courtyard. The second bedroom has a single bed then access via a steep staircase to a mezzanine level where there is a sofa bed in the eaves. It's charming and loved by children but not suitable for the elderly or infirm. Guests in this gite have full access to the gardens, large swimming pool (12m x 6m) and courtyard which provides secure parking and an ideal boules court !
The property comprises 2 gites/cottages and a large farmhouse (used as Auberge du Vin wine school, the owners accommodation and guest bedrooms). All are contained within an acre of courtyard, gardens, plus a large swimming pool (12m x 6m) and patio - perfect for lunch or BBQ's. The central courtyard and gardens can be locked for secure parking and the road is private access; no traffic noise or nearby neighbours. The property is surrounded by vineyards, olive and cherry trees, and has magnificent views over Mont Ventoux and the Dentelle mountains.
Gite Tourelle is a fully self contained gite/house with 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4. Its available all year round with heating and a wood burning stove for the cooler nights. Gite Soie has 2 bedrooms and also sleeps 4, however the living area of Gite Soie is smaller, and less ideal in winter. Both are independent of the farmhouse and overlook the gardens, pool and courtyard.
We moved here in 2006 from London and live here all year round.
We like to be on hand to help people enjoy the area and give restaurant tips! Linda is a wine tutor and always happy to advise on the local wines in the area or even provide a wine lesson if you should wish.
Christopher Hunt purchased this cottage in 2006
The property is in such a marvellous location. We wake up every morning to see Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles and vineyards everywhere; and have to pinch ourselves its not a dream! Its also incredibly peaceful.
Guests LOVE the view from the pool over the surrounding countryside and the great walks all year round from the house.
We have stayed here two years running, and already booked for 2013. The property is ideal for a couple perhaps with a small child, as there are two bedrooms. The living area is small- but not a problem in the sunshine as there is seating and a table and chairs to sit outside. The pool and gardens are fabulous and Linda and Chris available throughout your stay to direct you to the sites. We recommend the pizzeria in Mazan too!
An all year round holiday house located in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône wine region with many local vineyards. 20 minutes to Gigondas, 25 minutes to Avignon/Châteauneuf du Pape and 30 minutes to Vaison la Romaine. Visit Carpentras’ famous Friday market or numerous daily village markets. Only 10 minutes from Bédoin, start of the famous Mont Ventoux cycle route.
There is a nearby lake with a sandy beach - a locals secret so ask for details. Orange and Vaison have good Roman remains. One hour and a half to drive to the Mediterranean beaches around Marseille.
Plenty of cycling, walking, horseriding and other outdoor activities.
