Take a century old carriage house, locate in the best living and shopping neighborhood in San Francisco, tear out the insides, and completely update.
Just off 24th street in a quiet alley-way, we found the perfect place to renovate and update. From dark-small rooms, we tore down walls, ripped up carpet (to find great hardwood) and redid just about everything.
The result is something that is absolutely central in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Bright, modern and peaceful, it's the ideal home base in San Francisco. You can walk to some of our favorite food places (crepes at Savor), coffee (Martha Brothers) and groceries (Whole Foods) in under 5 minutes.
We're just 2 minutes from the J-Church street car line, that goes directly downtown. You can also walk 10 minutes and get to BART which goes directly to the airport or downtown as well.
Inside we've completely redone the kitchen. Modern appliances and everything our friend, a Cordon-Bleu trained chef has told us to get for her when she visits.
We have a big LCD 'smart' TV with Neflix preloaded for your viewing pleasure! For the more technically oriented, there's 50mb broadband, WiFi, a printer/copier/fax and an Apple TV in the house as well so you will not be out of touch.
We've done our best to be eco-friendly here. The roof has hot-water solar (feel free to take long afternoon showers), most of the lights are LEDs (many of them using the new L-prize winner Philips LED bulbs) and the home is equipped with smart power and heat management systems.
We also have a single garage space that's shared between the two units, which you can reserve with prior notice and a small additional nightly fee. Please note that the garage will only fit compact cars and requires comfort with snug spaces and city driving.
After many years of renting other people's places on vacation, we decided we'd like to do this ourselves. We're professionals (lawyer and business consultant) living in Silicon Valley with two kids. We love San Francisco, and we don't always have time to go there for the weekends, so we can share this place with our friends and family. We hope you have a great time at our place. We've put a lot of time into making it the kind of place we want to go. All the best, Paul and Daniel (with small help from Andrew & Oliver)
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2012
We're not San Francisco natives. That's probably why we've come to appreciate how fantastic this city is as a place to live, work and visit. Since we moved down to Silicon Valley in 2002, we've been thinking about how we keep one foot in this great city.
- the apartment looks as nice as the pictures show it
- location is really good - lots of restaurants, coffee shops and small shops
- nice vibe of the area - very clean and civilized
- very quiet - it's just off the main street (20 steps away), but enough to stay clear of any outside noises
i rented the Apt for the entire month of July. My daughter, who lives in Bernal Heights, had her first child July 8. It was a perfect location for me to use the Bus and the Bart. The neighborhood is great! I found all the shopkeepers to be friendly. I really felt I was a SF native, at least for the month! The Apt. looks just like the pictures. I would agree with most of the other reviewers, except I found the apt to be quite clean. I hope to stay again in the near future.
We enjoyed our 2 1/2 week stay in this clean, comfortable apartment. The kitchen is well equipped and the appliances are new. It was a pleasure to stay in such a clean, well-planned apartment. The bed was comfortable and there was a nice supply of bed and bath linens. It was a bonus to have a washer and dryer in the apartment. The owner promptly answered our questions and left information about local stores and restaurants. There is a nice high-speed WiFi network with an attached printer which came in very handy. The unit is right on 24th St. close to local coffee shops, stores, grocery store, restaurants and the J Church Muni. We would love to stay here again in future trips to San Francisco.
We absolutely LOVED the property! It was perfect for us, 2 adults and 2 children. We've been to SF before and we had an idea about where we wanted to stay, great location in Noe Valley! The kitchen space was amazing and we spent time there with friends. Very quiet, and I am a light sleeper, no issues. As a nice feature they provide a sound machine and earplugs if you need. Comfortable bed and kids said pull out couch was fine. Great neighborhood, walking distance to Whole Foods and other great restaurants. Also, very close to J Church and Muni 48, also walking distance to Delores Park, kids loved the park! Would definitely recommend and would love to stay there again when in SF.
This apartment is really nice and in a great location, 2min walk to the Metro and a short walk to the Bart, but far enough away that night time is quiet and peaceful, which was important to us and we both slept really well.
The kitchen is as nice as it looks in the pictures, bright, big and airy, has its own washing machine and drier, and is well stocked with all the cooking utensils you would need. There are no supplies, so you would need to do a fair amount of shopping if you wanted to cook meals, would have been helpful to have supplies like olive oil or sugar left for guests, but maybe there is a reason they don't.
The bedroom was lovely, huge wardrobe and a really comfortable bed. It was hot when we stayed but the apartment was nice and cool, which was a plus.
The bathroom is quite so small, this might not be important to all guests but it is a tight squeeze.
Paul was easy to deal with and very quick to reply to us and does have a great apartment here, the only downside was the cleaning, it was a little grubby in places and needed a bit more attention in the kitchen, but we cleaned up and got on with having a lovely holiday.
We would stay here again.
Our family of four was moving from Europe to San Francisco and had to find a temporary place to stay while we searched for a new home. We have two small kids and this was the second move in a short while and the kids were getting quite tired of it. Luckily this place was a real dream!
First, the place is in a really good location right next to the intersection of Church St and 24th St in the heart of Noe Valley. This is a fantastic and super kid friendly location. You are literally minutes away from shops, restaurants and Whole Foods. Noe itself is full of strollers, dogs and dads carrying their babies. However, if you are feeling more adventurous the place is a few blocks away from the Mission District which is full and vibrant with life.
Second, the place itself is gorgeous. Everything is immaculate down to the smallest details. You really feel you are visiting, everything is so well thought out. Given all the stress related to travel it was outright heavenly to be able to just kick back and relax for a few days while everything else was being sorted out. We picked up a number of lovely details for our own home, which is always the greatest of compliments.
All in all I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone who wants to visit San Francisco or stay for a bit longer.
Considered one of the most liveable, walkable neighborhoods in San Francisco, Noe Valley is ideally located near the city centre just a few minutes walk from mass transit. The location has a Walk-able neighborhood rating of 100. The place is loaded with great shops, restaurants. For groceries there is also a Whole Foods nearby as well.
To head downtown, you're 3 minutes walk from the J-Church line (street cars) or 5 minutes walk from BART, which also goes directly to SFO.
