Location. Location. Location! We are nestled in a small area of Kailua known as "Enchanted Lakes." We have a beautiful pool which offers lots of privacy, beautiful grounds to relax on and beautiful units which are a home-away-from-home. Our Akialoa Getaway is the place to take your well-earned vacation! Centrally located to go sightseeing!
Our central location provides easy access to the beach (5 minute drive), Kailua town, Sea Life Park (Dolphin viewing), Coastal Drives and Waikiki (home to many famous tourist attractions). Our crystal clear pool is a true tropical oasis. Lush greenery and waterfalls surrounding the property makes you feel very calm and relaxed.
We had two adults and two children under 6 years old staying in the studio. We had ample room to enjoy our stay. All facilities were up to date and in good working order, no issues. We highly recommend this studio for an enjoyable vacation stay!
We stayed in the upstairs studio with our 2 kids ages 10 and 7 for 2 weeks. There was so much room and the deck was wonderful! Our girls enjoyed the pool daily. Melanie was wonderful making sure that we had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and we usually had a nice breeze blowing through. At night we had the air on just because it was a little humid for sleeping. We are already planning on going back in a couple years and will for sure be staying here again. Thanks for the wonderful time!!!
We traveled with our two kids and this rental was perfect for our family. The upstairs unit had amazing views. The grounds were beautiful and lush, the pool was amazing and we felt very safe. We were a few minutes drive from the best beaches on the island. Melanie is so sweet and accommodating, she always replied quickly to my emails. We would definitely stay here again. It was a great location close to groceries and restaurants and away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.
We are a family of four and we stayed in the upstairs apartment for four nights before heading over to Maui. This is a studio apartment which is very spacious and beautifully furnished. Shopping, beaches and restaurants are all a short drive away, so the location was ideal. Supposedly there is a busy road nearby - but we never noticed any traffic noise, in fact quite the opposite, we found it to be a peaceful retreat. From start to finish the hosts were very helpful and accommodating. I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone. Our only regret was that we didn't stay at Akialoa Getaways for a much longer time. Thank you AJ and family for sharing your wonderful property with us.

We're a family of four and the upstairs studio was so perfect for us. Waking up to all the lush greens surrounding the property & cool air was amazing!!!

This is a "studio", but its very big. We were a family of four, two adults and two little kids, and we had plenty of room. The upstairs deck is also giant, and there is ample room to leave your beach stuff out there if you wish. It was really great to hang out around the pool at the end of the day...the whole pool area is also very big, and if you have kids they will love it. Lots of pool toys too. The water was very cold by all accounts, the other people staying there felt the same way. Our kids still swam, but they had to get out to warm up once in a while. Probably not an issue when its really warm out, and would even feel good.
Lots of places to sit, it was really great to sit and eat breakfast and dinner outside, especially if you wanted to sit and drink beer and read or play with your phone while the kids were swimming.
Its an older property and it shows its age in a few places. But it was clean and everything worked well. This was actually kind of a relief for us, the place we stayed previously was so nice that we were really worried the kids would ding it up. They could go crazy here and not really hurt anything.
Some people have said that the traffic noise was loud, as you are next to the freeway. I didn't notice it with the waterfall sound at the pool, and we kept the windows open all night to enjoy the breeze. You might hear an ambulance or hot rod once in a while, but unless you are seeking perfect peace and quiet, I doubt it will trouble you.
Perhaps the only real concern I would have about staying here again is that my jet lagged kids were up late running around (although the House Rules state quiet hours are at 11PM and my kids were sleeping by 10:30), and they annoyed the people staying in the apartment below. I made sure to introduce myself to all the other guests (there are three units on the site) and let them know to tell us if our kids were bugging them. They were all nice people and we ended up hanging out.
If you do have little kids (or any kind of personal mobility issues), the stairs to the upper apartment are a bit steep and high, with no gate. And the pool is very deep, no real "kids" area. I would not let children who can't swim well be in the pool area alone.
All in all we enjoyed this property very much, it would be an excellent place to rent with other people you know....you would basically "own" the place and might not even want to leave some days.
Kailua, it's a great little town. Known as the water sports capital of Hawaii, Kailua is home to kayaking, Kite Surfing and many other water activities. Go hiking on nearby trails, visit some of the amazing shops and restaurants in Kailua town, grab a cup of coffee in the morning at one of the many cafes, or just relax by the pool outside your room!
