About Myrrh

Meet a wild, wonderful woman that loves the excitement of a new adventure just as much as being still with nature. My youthful days fulfilled my dream of becoming a National Park Ranger, and later as a smile machine helping folks take demo rides on new BMW motorcycles.

Myrrh purchased this cabin in 1988

Why Myrrh chose Charles Town

This home and the rolling piedmont hills are rich in early American history. It's tough to decide between exploring West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania or Virginia. A favorite excursion is the Independence Day Salute at the Antietam National Battlefield to hear the Maryland symphony, fireworks, and feel the cannon blasts. Alternatively, the fun of dropping a canoe into the Shenandoah to play in the waves or the peaceful float through the calm water.

What makes this cabin unique

Halloween in this area should be experienced at least once. Take as many ghost tours as you can pack in.

Or you can simply revel in the calm, stargaze, sleep peacefully and breathe deeply. The house is on the "dark side" of Charles Town, so you can see the milky way and shooting stars at night.

Guestbook comments from the manager

"I would rather be on my farm, than emperor of the world"

George Washington

With our hearts full of joy we depart your cabin grateful for the time we shared. Laughter rang through the kitchen as we played Yuker, told stories and reminisced. Imprinted in our minds are the beautiful vistas from Maryland Heights trail and the Shenandoah River. We learned Charles Town was named for George Washington's brother and were awestruck by the fireflies. Thank you for an amazing trip!

This is my first time renting this way, so I don't know what is normal. Besides the how beautiful the house and property were, the meticulous attention to detail of Myrrh in setting up the property makes your stay effortless. We are already planning to come back next year!

Very accommodating!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house to host a work related Thanksgiving dinner. The owner went above and beyond all expectations in regards to being available and offering to help with many of our needs. She was extremely flexible with us needing to rent a tent large enough to seat 40 people for dinner and had no reservations about the number of guests or traffic we would potentially incur. She was always available and easy to get in contact with. The kitchen was so well stocked that we had absolutely no issues cooking for 40 people. The environment was very quiet and secluded and the scenery was beautiful!

Secluded and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here! We were able to enjoy the weather on the back porch each morning in addition to seeing horses, turkeys, and deer! It was close to Harper's Ferry where we went hiking and went on a ghost tour. Thanks for a great time!

Awesome house and property minutes from Downtown Charles Town!

  • 5 of 5

The house was in great condition and everything worked perfectly. It made for a great weekend for both relaxing at the house and exploring the town. We spent hours on the deck grilling and enjoying the quiet. I would recommend this house for anyone looking in the area, close enough to town while still secluded.

Away from it all.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is located just outside of Charles Town to where if you want to go its less than 10 minutes away. The place is very clean and in working order. The deck was a great place to unwind and forget about the every day hustle and bustle of work and sit and enjoy life. Great opportunities for wildlife photos as turkeys, deer. and a fox were seen in the morning and the evenings right out the front door. The area itself has plenty to see and do when you venture out and about being it has historic sites, trails, casino, bars, and restaurants. Recommend Alfredo's if you want some good food, there was 4 of us and everyone was very pleased with their meal. Myrrh is a great host and will keep you informed and answer any questions that you have. Her response time was excellent and really aims to please. Will definitely be the first place I will look to stay when coming back to the are.
