About Dick Cook

My wife Emily and I built this comfortable home in 2004 and do all that we can to maintian this private setting from which we enjoy an abundance of nature, as well as our family, friends and visitors.

Dick Cook purchased this house in 2004

Why Dick Cook chose Maine

This unique property has been in my family for generations, and I fondly remember the wonderful summers I spent here with my Grandparents in a cozy little cottage. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful spot to settle back and enjoy 'lake life' and all it does for our mental and spiritual well being.

What makes this house unique

Nature surrounds this private 2.2 acres, great bass fishing from the dock, the families of loons that sing their unique songs at dawn and dusk. In addition to the lake, there is a small 'Frog Pond' that attracts the likes of eagles, herons, pilieated woodpeckers, turtles, and various water foul. A canoe is offered with the property, and kayak and paddle board rental is just two minutes away on the lake.

The most relaxing lakefront vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our first thought as we pulled up and looked around was, location, location, location! What an ideal spot to spend the week. You barely knew there were neighbors to the left, and the lilly pond to the right was so picturesque! The water was very warm and inviting, and fishing off the dock was fun...there was always "the big one" that got away while no one was looking, lol! Inside, We enjoyed the open concept on the main floor, plenty of room to entertain and move about easily. Morning coffee on the front porch rockers or rear deck was also relaxing...listening to the birds, sometimes spying a little doe running through the back yard...priceless! The bedrooms were immaculate, and very comfy. We rented a boat a couple of times when we had company, and our guests were thrilled. We enjoyed hot sunny weather all week long, and ate like kings and queens....there were steaks, lobsters, and of course, fresh corn from the guy at the roadside stand. Having all the comforts of home, (including the huge TV's), was an added bonus, especially in the kitchen and walk-in pantry! We are already thinking about returning the same time next year, but for two weeks, as some of our friends who came to visit also loved the location, and they want to experience the serenity of the lake and surroundings as well! Thank you so much for opening up your home to us and for a wonderful, memorable vacation!

The easiest of vacations

  • 5 of 5

My wife and small children, as well as my parents spent a peaceful week at the lake fishing, boating, exploring. We had a everything we needed right on site to cook great meals, keep up with the laundry (which allowed us to pack light) and have great access to the lake. As ordered, we experienced sunshine and temperatures in the high eighties/low nineties, perfect for swimming. And as if on queue, the weather greyed on our last day and my wife and mother had an excuse to go shopping. We were completely satisfied with our stay and came home with energy and lots of smiles!

Enoyed our Vacation Still Talking about the Great Times

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week eating lobsters, kayaking, taking morning walks for coffee and just relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. The lake house was comfortable and the kitchen included everything. Did I mention we cooked the lobsters ourselves? Lots to do close by. We spent one day on the ocean at York Beach. Very quaint town with unique shops. We moved out of Maine almost 30 years ago, but come back every summer. Our hosts was amazing always willing to answer questions both before we rented and after we arrived. We plan to make Milton Pond a regular part of our summer vacations in Maine. Thank you.

Spacious retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent two glorious weeks here and enjoyed the peaceful, quiet setting. The open concept floor plan is ideal for entertaining. The kitchen had plenty of pots/pans and dishes so we did a considerable of amount of cooking during our stay. The spacious deck off the the dining room offers views of the lake and there is a chiminia to ward off the evening chill. This home is ideal if you're looking for a relaxing get-away. We hope to rent here again.

Nice house for family gathering

  • 4 of 5

We took our 21 year old son and also his older sisters family to this home on Milton Pond, which included our daughter's husband, their 3 year old and 10 month old. It worked out very well for us. The home is very well maintained and I'm happy to say it was very clean. It is located in a small town so for the most part, it was also a quite location. The kitchen is so well stocked with virtually anything you might need for your cooking and baking. The decks were great to sit on in the evenings and roast marshmellows. The beds were ok, a bit hard for our taste, but everyone's taste is different. The biggest thing we were a bit disappointed in is the fact that in the water by the dock, there are quite a few rocks. The canoe we were allowed to use wasn't an issue, but we rented a jet ski and we were afraid to bring it in and out by the dock so we had to go to the public beach to use the jet ski there to feel safe about not damaging the rented jet ski. We also were a bit disappointed that the kayaks had been stolen from the property so we weren't able to use those, but the owners were apologetic about that, and I did feel bad for them for having them stolen. It was a great place to relax and spend time with our kids and grandkids. I would definitely recommend the place and also working with the owners. We also received our deposit back within a week of returning home - which was greatly appreciated.
