Well, where to begin, this was our first trip the Turks and Caicos Island and I have to say, we truly enjoyed our time on the island.
The people, the local food, the weather were just outstanding but the beautiful beaches, These were Amazing !!The beach was just a short walk or you could drive your car around the corner from the Guest House.
As for our stay at the Hummingbird Guest House, it was as advertised. It was clean and nicely located to the beach and the Grace Bay area for shopping and local restuarants along with the local food market. We did experienced a few diffulities shortly after moving in but the owners, Mary and James were very responsive to our needs and went out of their way to ensure our stay was pleasant. All in All, we truly enjoyed our stay and we would recommend staying at the Guest House.
Also, We would recommend renting a car in order to explore other parts of the island. However, be careful driving on the Left side of the road!!
BTW, You should also try the Mango Reef restuarant in Turtle Cove, It was GREAT!!!
Our trip to TCI was just outstanding.

Summary: Stayed for 4 nights in Mid-January. Property is represented very accurately. The house is clean, well equipped, and in a great location. A/C in the master, but fans and a nice breeze made the whole house reasonable.
Details: Landed at PLS airport and rented a car (you will need a car to get around) for 30 bucks a day for a small compact. Be advised that the roads are all poorly marked and in some cases - VERY rough with speed bumps not really well marked - drive slow and on the left side. A bit tough to find Hummingbird (through main gate, first left, first right, first left, first left) but no problems. Stopped by the local IGA to stock up on water and snacks. Did the Thursday night fish fry (recommend) and ate out at Groupers (recommend) and Danny Buoys (so so). Walk to beach was 5 min and WOW. You pop out on the end of Grace Bay in what can only be described as "your own beach" with powdery sand, blue cotton candy water, and not really many people. Bring floats and just hang!
Overall - 4 stars - this place is as represented - one bedroom house close to the beach. GREAT LOCATION!! Clean and well equipped. Couch showing some age, minor construction next door first day was a bit noisy, there are a lot of workers hanging around the numerous construction sites nearby that made us feel a bit uncomfortable, but security was good in the neighborhood. Had a few mechanical problems, but owner was immediately responsive and fixed right away. Dryer was not working, but we didn't find out until the day we were leaving. I recommend this property and the owner.
My husband and I decided to rent this house as part of a dive trip in Turks and Caicos and although we only stayed for four nights, we loved every minute of it. This house has the perfect location and all the necessities you need to enjoy your vacation without the cost of a 5-star resort. After visiting the resort section of Grace Bay Beach, I can also honestly say that I am very glad we didn't pay to be a part of those crowds! I definitely recommend a rental car when staying at this house to help get around the island. It doesn't take too long to drive around Provo, and it is nice to have the independence to explore at your own will rather than being at the mercy of a taxi or shuttle. We brought some groceries with us from the US which I also recommend as the main Graceway IGA grocery store prices are basically double what we usually pay at home for almost everything.
Back to the property itself, we always had breakfast at home and cooked dinner half of the time we were there and found the kitchen to be adequately stocked with utensils, pots/pans, spices, etc. There were lots of little ants around if you left any dishes unwashed or food sitting out, but I don't think that's anything you can really control beyond not doing the aforementioned things. The ants were a mild nuisance but not too much of an issue. The beach towels, chairs, and cooler were great to have and very easy to carry down to the beach which was less than a 5 minute walk away from the house. The neighborhood is residential so we never saw more than 12-15 other people on the beach at any given time. The bed was comfortable enough, and the air conditioning in the bedroom was a huge plus. Some of the previous reviews mention noise from dogs in the neighborhood, but we did not find that to be an issue.
I cannot rave enough about this property and am so glad we found it. I even recommended the property to my parents who are now considering a trip down to Provo after hearing about our amazing experience. We look forward to returning to Turks and Caicos and staying here again!
Overall we had a great stay at the Hummingbird cottage over the new year's holiday. The property is located in a quiet residential area, and the cottage itself is airy, clean, and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the lovely screened in back patio, which was a nice area to sit and enjoy the morning breeze or evening cocktails! The beach is just a short walk away, and we appreciated the beach amenities provided (chairs and towels, though the beach umbrella was unfortunately broken). The beaches we accessed close to the cottage were spectacular, and you could easily find a quiet and secluded spot away from the more populated stretch of Grace Bay. We did not have a car, but rented bicycles for our few days there and had no issue biking up and down Grace Bay Road a few miles to access shops and restaurants. The only thing we found to be missing was the guest cell phone with $10 credit that was referenced in the guest manual and listing amenities, but otherwise the pictures and listing accurately described the property. Overall this was a wonderful home base to have on the island, and we would return in the future!
Excellent location and size for 2 people. Perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway or honeymoon. Screened in back porch with table and seashells, grill, and beach chairs. Two minute walk to a quiet beach. Many stray dogs ... all very nice and will come back if you feed them (black dog is Maxie, so sweet). If you don't, they'll leave you alone.
The only downside were the red ants that were everywhere inside and outside the house... on the floors, in the closet, on the counters in the kitchen. And also the water in the shower was wacky ... one second freezing cold, the next burning hot without even touching the dial. With that said, I would still recommend this location and will likely return next year!
