Our family has vacationed in the Smokies for three generations. Twice annually for a week at a time, plus frequent three day weekends we hit the trails for picnicking, fishing, hiking, local attractions, and “yes” even shopping. Finally my husband and I were presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase an acre of land that borders the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This land was previously unavailable for sale, so when it became available we jumped at the chance. Then came the process of building our dream home. After a lengthy design process, which incorporated ideas from family and friends, came the 13 month construction period. The “result” is a spectacular, yet inviting and relaxing log home nestled between the Appalachian Mountains and the spruce and fir forest that covers them. Here nature converges with both the indoor and outdoor living spaces to heighten our senses of the beauty that surrounds us. Our memories are many……happy times spent with family and friends observing holidays and celebrating birthdays, graduations and a myriad of other special occasions. Sunrises and sunset against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful places on earth are enduring. We have also enjoyed learning about the history of East Tennessee, the people and their customs. As the circle of life evolves, we find that we spend less time in our mountain paradise. However, we want to offer you, your family and friends the opportunity to create your own memories in our mountain retreat. We hope you will find time to soak in the peace and tranquility that this most special and wondrous place offers.
We had a wonderful long weekend with 10 of our best friends. It's obvious this cabin was designed and decorated as a family home. It is one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed and Rita was great to work with. The cabin was very clean and up-to-date. The kitchen and linens were stocked very well..there were even separate towels for the hot tub. The open floorplan allowed our party of 12 to gather in one area and socialize so easily. The labeling of the kitchen cabinets was such a nice touch but be ready for the light switches. They are labeled but not always where you would anticipate. It was somewhat of a scavenger hunt to find some of them but that added to the fun. We're keeping this one on our favorites list and hope to come back here soon.
Enjoyed the stay with family !!! Great location and great home!!! Plenty of room to enjoy and owner and maintenance was awesome !!! Hoping to stay again !!!
The most beautiful cabin we have ever stayed in. So much room for so many guest and everything you will ever need. The views were amazing from every window. Loved the open rooms kitchen, dining and den. We were all able to gather there for eating, games and conversation. The downstairs had anything one would want for entertainment pool table several other games and fireplace. This is the cabin for large gatherings! All bedrooms are really nice. You are up high almost in Heaven. We had ice and snow flurries a Winter Wonderland but down the mountain it was clear. Great place to rent!! We had a blast!
This was our family's third year at Papa Bear's Den. The house is always decorated for Christmas when we arrive and that makes our stay even more enjoyable. We love the roomy, clean, well stocked house and we love the location (hiking trails literally steps away). Our family doesn't visit the tourist attractions in Pigeon Forge so we especially enjoy this quiet, secluded home. But if the hustle and bustle of shops is your preference, it's an easy drive . The property manager is always very responsive and a pleasure to work with. Thank you Papa Bear's Den for another wonderful visit.
So many things to do in the area from zip lining to moonshine tasting to horseback riding. Something for everyone.
