The Lake Jeff Tree House was designed and built in 2002 by Jill, the owner, an internationally known artist, for our family to relax in and get away from New York City. We have enjoyed the fresh country air, eating locally grown, raised and harvested / foraged foods and playing in the outdoors in the woods and by the lake. The Tree House has served as Jill's summer studio through the years and the home is furnished with many personal works of art by her and artist whom she knows.
Our family has loved and cared for this home throughout the years, as evidenced by the pristine condition that you will find and enjoy.
We would like every guest to experience the same serenity and beauty that we have found in the woods on Lake Jefferson.
Jill purchased this house in 2002
The Lake Jeff Tree House is a true retreat from the the hectic pace of everyday life. You can choose to stock up the fridge and relax with all of the comforts you desire, both indoors and out, on the living room deck or beside the lake. There is no need to leave unless you want to partake in the many amenities that Sullivan County has to offer.
You will find the Bethel Woods Performing Art Center and the site of the 1969 Woodstock Music festive and Museum just 8 miles away. Down the road from that is the Dancing Cat Saloon and Distillery. The Dancing Cat Saloon serves up good food and spirts along with local talents performing jam sessions. The Distillery is distilling 'Peace Vodka' which you can sample there or at the Dancing Cat.
Take a ride along the Delaware River to Fort Delaware. Experience life in a Fort as it would have been. This is great for kids and adults alike or continue down the lake to Skinners Falls to swim or tube the rapids.
Winter is just as exciting at the Tree House. Build a fire in the fireplace and listen to the crackle. When the lake freezes the locals ice fish on it. You can sled the local hills or for a bigger adventure ski or snowtube Villa Roma which is a 15 minute drive away. Its a small run but great family fun to noodle around on ski's without crowds.
This is a true nature getaway. Whether its summer and you are watching the trees sway and hearing the leaves rustle, listening to the geese honk or watching the small woodland animals at the lake or its winter and you build a snow fort then sit cozy by the fireplace watching the snow fall, you will make lasting memories with friends and family. You will love the tranquility of your vacation at the Tree House at Lake Jeff.
Five adults and 2 young children had a great time at the Tree House. We had plenty of room. The setting is beautiful and just as described. Tall trees dominate the view out and from the inside too, due to the great window placements. Jeffersonville is a nice little town, but is still large enough to have a large market and good restaurants. Jill was helpful in all aspects of this rental. Would we do it again? Yes, going back to the same area with a similar number of people I'd go back to the Tree House rather than take a chance on another property.
We are so happy that we chose The Lake Jeff Tree House! We were in the area for a family wedding/weekend of events Fri - Sun - all held @ the Barn on Hubbard (which is a gorgeous venue)! The location of the Lake Jeff Tree House was perfect - just a quick drive to the Barn - to town for supplies (great local market) - and to Bethel Woods (very cool museum). The house is very private and very comfortable (we loved all of the cool seating). It is very CLEAN - we loved the No Shoes Rule. It is beautifully decorated inside and out (the deck - wow)! We were also impressed that all of the household "extras" were included - from cleaning/laundry supplies to hand soap, trash bags, foil and even paper towels) that was so nice! We also loved the amazing ceiling fans in every room - we were a little nervous that there was no AC - but even with 90+ degree weather the house remained very cool - all day - great design. Jill was fabulous - very responsive throughout the entire process.
Jill, Thank you again for sharing your lovely home with us - just delightful - we were 150% satisfied!
PS - We did set off the alarm when first entering the property (yikes) - we could not find the "keypad" - Of course, it was actually simple to flip the cover open - the hinge is at the bottom of the unit and you just flip it open towards you from the top.... So, I got to speak with Jill - who called the house immediately and helped me re-set the unit - as well as to a local police officer (who stopped by to check-in)!
My friends and I enjoyed a Halloween weekend here. The house was clean and well-furnished, with plenty of room for the 6 of us. We especially used the kitchen (of course) and the downstairs living room area for playing games and watching movies. The house was pretty secluded with a nice walk down to the water and some trails. We also enjoyed driving into nearby towns and even found a pumpkin patch. Wifi and appliances all worked great. We would have preferred a bigger TV though (only minor complaint). Jill was extremely timely and friendly in all of her communications.
Everything is brand new or seems that way. Wifi, TV, Wii all great. Fireplace and the great room awesome. Kitchen great. The house is secluded with views of trees all around and the lake down below, through the trees.
My wife and kids, along with my inlaws stayed recently stayed at the property for a half week of rest and relaxation. To say that our expectations were exceeded is an understatement as we used it to just lounge around and spend quality family time on some days and as a point to explore the others. The house and grounds are immaculately kept and there is a bit of something for everyone. Whether spending some time out on the deck, picnic on the lawn, stargaze at night or lounge around downstairs, we did it all. The kids really enjoyed it, mom and dad really enjoyed it and grandma and grandpa really enjoyed it. Would recommend to all types of groups.
We were 4 couples staying at the house to attend a concert at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, which is really close by. It was the perfect house and location. Very clean, modern and large enough to feel that 8 people had plenty of space to spread out. We spent most time on the deck that surrounds the house, which makes it like true indoor/outdoor living and like you are living in the trees. The drive to the venue was a quick 10 minutes, which was really great. Some of us took a walk to town which is also very close by. Overall really fantastic option and we would definitely recommend it.
Located 7 miles from Bethel Woods Center for Performing Arts and the site of the 1969 Woodstock music festival and museum. 12 miles from the Dellaware River where you can kayak or canoe down the river or view eagles.
There are many antique shops in the area and Pete's auction barn in the Hamlet of Jeffersonville.
