This cabin is right across the street from the Blanco River! A few minutes walk will get you into town. With two bedrooms and one bath it's a cozy getaway in a quiet neighborhood, but close to everything that's happening in our little town.
Nestled under a canopy of heritage oaks, Ms Willie lived in this cabin for sixty-three years, raising her family on the shores of the beautiful Blanco River. When she was ready to move on, I, her neighbor, was lucky enough to get first dibs on it! We spruced it up and did some upgrades, peeling off layers of wallpaper and paneling, carpeting and linoleum to reveal all of the beautiful original wood beneath. The building initially served as the medics office when the CCC was building the Blanco dams in 1933.
I'm happy to now be able to share this lovely space with you.
The cabin easily sleeps 6 - Bedroom #1 has a full-sized bed. Bedroom #2 has bunk beds with a twin on top and a full below. The living room couch is super comfy for sleeping, but we can also bring in an air mattress if you need to squeeze in a couple more. There is one full bathroom with a shower. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking "in", but there are excellent restaurants just a short walk across the bridge.
The house has wifi, and the TV is equipped with a Chromecast, so that you can stream from your own devices. Hopefully, you'll be too enchanted with the fireflies to care.
There is a washer and dryer available for your use.
The Blanco River is literally across the street. By day you can swim, fish, and kayak to your heart's content. At night the dark skies are filled with stars, and the moon's reflection in the river is magical. Watch for Great Blue Herons and Snowy Egrets roosting in the trees across the water and an array of ducks and geese year round.

Hello! Thank you for visiting. I live in Blanco, Texas with my two dogs, 1 cat and 6 chickens. I love the Blanco River, and am delighted to share my vacation homes in San Marcos and Blanco with you.
Why Owner chose Blanco
This cabin was originally the medic office for the Civilian Conservation Corps when they were building the Blanco dams in 1933. It has stayed true to it's rustic charm even while being updated to modern standards of comfort, convienence, and beauty. It sits directly across the road from the river, yet is a short walk into town!

Old on the outside but very comfortable and charming on the inside!
This place is quiet and comfortable! It has all the necessary amenities and the location is wonderful! Very close to the town square, where all the local shops and restaurants stand. We enjoyed fishing and kayaking on the river which is just across the street. The TV does not have local channels but we were able to sign into our Netflix account, add the TV as a device and watch what we wanted that way! The owner is very nice and extremely accommodating. We will definitely be visiting again!
Nice little cabin on the river
There were 5 of us and the cabin was comfortable for our stay. We were right across the street from the Blanco River! We had enough kitchen to enjoy our meals and my grandsons enjoyed playing in the yard.
However, there were 2 things advertised that didn't materialize. The washing machine apparently broke down before we arrived. Being without it in August - hot and humid - was most uncomfortable. While there is a laundromat in town that is not what I paid for.
Also, the ad said a television was available. Not entirely true. There is a large black box on the wall, but it is not hooked up to any provider. You must have your own tv hookup on either your phone or your computer which you then upload to the tv on the wall. Since we had neither the advertised tv was worthless.
I have rented through VRBO in the past for trips to Europe, and it was the amenities advertised that always determined my selection. This was the first time to find that not everything was as advertised and it was most disappointing.
Otherwise it is a cute little cabin on the river and comfortable for a few days stay.
I am so sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your stay.
The description states: "The house has wifi, and the TV is equipped with a Chromecast, so that you can stream from your own devices." Given your feedback, perhaps I should elaborate. I certainly have no intention of misleading anyone.
My goal is to offer a comfortable place at a good value where families can get away and enjoy easy and free access to the Blanco River.
I apologize again about the inconvenience of the washing machine being broken - its fixed now!
We had such a good time at Ms. Willie's cabin. It was like going to grandma's. The home was clean, and we had river access right across the street. We had the river all to ourselves. The kids enjoyed playing in the river, and my husband and I enjoyed a quiet night on the front porch listening to the cicadas and tree frogs. Very Peaceful... Blanco is a neat little town and this house is very close to the state park. We got the beauty and access of the river without the crowd. My only complaint is that we were foolish enough to only book one night! We will definitely be back!
Great central location
This is such a cute little house. The owner has redone and re purposed with care. The beds are comfortable and the house is equipped with most of your needs. We enjoyed the town and location in general. If you want to sight see Texas Hill Country this is a great find. Most attractions are within 30 mins. drive. Bring your tubes and bikes theres a lot to do right outside your front door.
Cute house on the Blanco River.
Very nice stay. We will stay again.
