Pine Cove Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bath home on wooded property near hiking trails and town

Lots of light, cheerful and inviting home with living area upstairs and bedrooms downstairs. The great room upstairs is the living area, with kitchen, dining and living room under beautiful vaulted wood ceilings. Step outside on the balcony, you'll know why we call it the tree house! The balcony has gas grill, piped in stereo music and hanging lights to make your stay a little magical. You'll see so many stars at night! Downstairs are three bedrooms: the roomy master bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom with an extra heater for those chilly mornings! From master bedroom is a private balcony that looks out onto the pine and cedar trees with mountains as the backdrop. Second bedroom also has a queen bed, and the third has bunk beds that sleeps up to three children.

About Monica Elrod

I visited Idyllwild in 1996 and couldn't get enough of the beautiful scenery, the people, the charming town, the sound of the wind in the pine trees. One day I plan to move up here permanently.

Monica Elrod purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Monica Elrod chose Idyllwild

Quiet and secluded wooded setting, the open, airy floorplan in a newer cabin, with all the amenities. Two balconies, one off the master bedroom with own bathroom. Close to town, but peaceful and serene - a perfect getaway!

What makes this cabin unique

The views from the house are trees, trees and more trees with a little bit of mountain in the distance. Feels like you're in another world; feel your stress disappear! Enjoy the a seasonal creek, the wildlife including visitors at the bird feeder. Central heating and air conditioning, ceiling fans. The neighborhood stays cooler in summer and snow stays longer in winter.

Another beautiful weekend in Monica's cozy cabin in Idyllwild - Labor Day Weekend 2016

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we stayed in Monica's cabin in Idyllwild. We spent a long weekend here in the summer of 2014 which we enjoyed so much that we decided to come back this year. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the flooring in the family room and the staircase was redone. It looks very nice. We like the way the cabin is set up - sleeping quarters and bath rooms downstairs, kitchen, dining and family room upstairs. We particularly enjoyed watching (shooting) stars from the upstairs balcony at night. It is so peaceful and quiet up there, a welcome change to the hustle and bustle of city life. The reservation process was nice and easy. Monica responded promptly to all my emails and messages. Directions and information about the cabin were very clear. The cabin itself is very spacious and nicely furnished. An overall great experience. If I had to mention anything that was missing, it would be a larger pot for cooking in the kitchen. We usually make spaghetti and bolognese sauce on our first night, and we would have loved to have another large pot for cooking. But we helped ourselves by cooking the bolognese sauce first and keeping it warm in the crock pot, and then cooking the spaghetti. And by all means, this didn't make our stay any less wonderful. We still give 5 stars whole heartedly, and we will definitely come back!

The town of Idyllwild is quaint and offers something for everyone. Our kids liked the playground, there always seems to be some kind of art fair when we are there, good food and great hiking.

Excellent home and amazing for our weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Excellent cabin to rent. Would recommend to anyone wanting to rent this cabin. The owner is quick to respond. It was very nice that there was AC in the cabin (not a normal feature in the area) because the weekend was a bit warmer than usual. There is not much of a backyard as most of the small lot is devoted to the house. But there is some good rock features nearby and a beautiful manzanilla grove right next to the cabin. It is within quick access to Deer Springs trail and the Nature Center. Plus a five minute drive from the central hub of Idylwild. A full kitchen means that you can easily cook your meals at the cabin. There is a downstairs (attached to the master bedroom) and an upstairs (attached to the living room) balcony (good size) for you to enjoy the day or evening. If you are going during the summer, I would recommend a sleeping mask if you want to sleep in an extra hour or two as there is quite a bit of light in the master bedroom (this is not a negative, just some general advice.) It is two a two story unit so be prepared for the stairs (but this is very typical for many cabins in the area. Many have a second floor). Very peaceful mountain getaway.

Very clean and the house looks to be newly renovated. I would recommend the Red Kettle for breakfast or lunch in the Idylwild area. Also check out the hand-dipped icecream store around the corner from the Red Kettle. It is a tiny little storefront, but it is amazing. Idylwild has expanded over the years, but it still feels like a small town in every sense of the word.

Several day hikes in the area. Deer Springs Trail head is a shade over a mile away if you want to use the cabin as a base to walk to the trail head.

Enjoy this fabulous cabin!
