About Monica Elrod

I visited Idyllwild in 1996 and couldn't get enough of the beautiful scenery, the people, the charming town, the sound of the wind in the pine trees. One day I plan to move up here permanently.

Monica Elrod purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Monica Elrod chose Idyllwild

Quiet and secluded wooded setting, the open, airy floorplan in a newer cabin, with all the amenities. Two balconies, one off the master bedroom with own bathroom. Close to town, but peaceful and serene - a perfect getaway!

What makes this cabin unique

The views from the house are trees, trees and more trees with a little bit of mountain in the distance. Feels like you're in another world; feel your stress disappear! Enjoy the a seasonal creek, the wildlife including visitors at the bird feeder. Central heating and air conditioning, ceiling fans. The neighborhood stays cooler in summer and snow stays longer in winter.

Beautiful property, very clean, very comfortable, and homey

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday here with a few of her friends. The rooms were comfortable and the upstairs living space was perfect for hanging out, playing games, eating, and watching movies. A great selection of fun movies for the whole family. Wood burning stove was great for that homey feeling and warming up quickly. The property is very private, surrounded by trees and a beautiful stream you can hear at night.

Comfortable, clean, and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

The first thing that greeted us as we approached the cabin was the scent of pine -- awesome!! The home was immaculate and clean. The wifi is great. Everything was great. (But bring your own toilet paper.) The cabin feels bigger than it looks in the pictures! If my family and I ever come through this area again, we would certainly stay here again. 👍🏻

Beautiful winter wonderland!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved our weekend in the trees. The house was perfect, felt like home. Very warm and cozy makes you not want to leave. Never knew there was this much snow up in this area, first time here. Plenty of area for the kids to play in the snow. Nice and quite would love to come back even in the summer for a relaxing getaway.

Perfect for alone time and family time and friends time.

  • 5 of 5

We all need time away from our daily selves. Coming up to this Idyllwild cabin was ideal as it had everything we needed to relax. I have rented quite a few cabins up there and this place is in good condition, plumbing and heating works great. I loved pulling open the blinds every morning upstairs to reveal the views of being up in the trees.

- all basic amenities were in good working condition.

- kitchen was good, but I did prefer to bring my own sharp knives

- house is located up in the trees

- neighbors are not close so it feels secluded.

- loved that it was close to the Idyllwild Nature Park, easy safe hikes to go by yourself or with friends.

- when it snows there's a place at the entrance of the neighborhood to take your kid sledding.

- washer and dryer was convenient

- my kid enjoyed the bunkbed room

- hot water worked and heater worked perfectly during the cold weather

- short drive into town

What to know before renting:

- you need to remove all your trash and recycling on your own.

- if renting in the winter, you will need to shovel your own driveway to get in or hire someone to do it for you. We did it ourselves as she provided shovels.

- if renting for a month, you need to bring your own trash bags and toilet paper, there was only one trash bag and no supplies. Must be the cleaning company who does that, but it's not a big deal as we brought it from home.

- this place would be PERFECT if it had a hot tub, that was the only thing in my mind that I wish we had.

I really enjoyed this house and think it's an excellent property. Do not hesitate to rent Monica's house.

I appreciate the quality time that I had up there with my family.

It is a lovely and clean home away from home!

This was our second time staying here and we continue to love it. It is convenient to town and hiking trails with a backyard of trees to view from the balcony. We will be back again, I'm sure! Thank you Monica!
