About Rob Hunter

Annette and I meet early in high school and we've been together ever since. We have three grown kids now all married with new grandchildren.

Both of us born and raised in LA, we've spent the last 20+ years in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

We took a trip with the kids years ago to Mazatlan. We loved it and the people and have been going back ever since. We recently bought an additional condo just north of this Islas Del Sol condo and we generally spend 3 months a year there.

We love company and if it works out timing wise we would love to spent time and introduce the city to you if you don't already know it well...

Rob Hunter purchased this condo in 2000

Why Rob Hunter chose Mazatlan

This property is about 30 years old and is well kept but not fancy. It is comfortable with maid service. I think it's about the nicest location for just hanging and walking everywhere easily.

What makes this condo unique

We love the sunsets, long walks on the beach north or south and the near by and onsite restaurants close by and on the beach. You'll be welcomed and made to feel at home at Joe's Oyster Bar, Chili's Pepper and many other beachfront hangouts.

Older condo, great views, priced right.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Islas del Sol #801 for 3 nights. The view of the ocean is wonderful. Unfortunately the condo does not have an outdoor patio so you need to enjoy the view through the large windows. There is big construction project next door so for now much of the view looks out on to that, but the construction noise wasn't too bad. This is an older condo building so the condos and grounds reflect this. The pool area is small so if it's a busy time of year it might feel crowded. When we were there it wasn't too bad. Lots of families. There really isn't a beach in front, even at low tide. The closest beach looks like the one in front of El Cid. The beds are comfortable. The master bedroom air conditioner was challenged to keep the room cool but there is a ceiling fan. The rest of the air conditioning units worked very well. Although we didn't cook, it did seem that the kitchen was pretty well equipped. The wifi in the unit worked well as did the wifi in the lobby. The condo was very clean. The staff was friendly. I'd skip ordering snacks/drinks from the restaurant and instead bring your own. There is an OXO right across the street for snacks and beverages. Lots of families brought down their own ice chests to the pool area with drinks and snacks...a great idea. If you are looking for a no frills beach front condo, this is definitely a good value.

EXCELENTE CONDOMINIO, VISTA Y UBICACIÓN

  • 5 of 5

EL CONDOMINIO SE ACOMODO A LO QUE NECESITABA YA QUE CONTABA CON MAS COSAS QUE UN SIMPLE HOTEL , MUY AMPLIO Y CON UNA EXCELENTE UBICACIÓN Y PRECIOSA VISTA AL MAR , Y EN FRENTE DEL EDIFICIO EN LA PLAYA SE REALIZAN ACTIVIDADES COMO PASEA EN LA BANANA , PARA CHUTE , PASEO EN MOTO ACUÁTICA.

Islas del Sol condo

  • 4 of 5

It was a refreshing stay. The condo is very comfortable and adequate for 11 people! The view and a/c were wonderful. The kitchen was very well equipped with all of the necessities for cooking. The location was great as well. The only thing we experienced was that wifi was not working on our floor while we were there. Also our cable was not working, which we reported, but it seemed a little complicated to get it fixed. We only stayed two nights. The kids had a blast, though! We will return!

Great place, great food and great people!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this unit many times and keep coming back for more. Their listing is accuarate and the owners try to be very accommodating wanting you to feel at home and satisfied with your stay. The staff is great but the housekeepers come but twice a week.

Although people of all ages come, the majority who stay are of retirement age. Our friends this year took advantage of hoseback riding, catamaran tours, sail boating, zip lining, etc., and they only stayed one week. Many great restaurants. If you can't find a favorite spot to eat, you're probably too picky of an eater.

My husband and I would highly recommend this unit. Like us, many of the people who stay at Islas are regulars, coming from Canada, Minnesota etc. We are all willing to share our knowledge of the area, recreational spots and the do's and don'ts, etc. You will not be disappointed.

I hope you give it a try.

Perfect Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

I traveled to Mazatlan with my family and had a wonderful time. The condo is very well kept and in the PERFECT location. I really enjoyed everything about the condo- its had plenty of space and the people there were very nice. It was right on the beach and had a nice pool. If I go back to Mazatlan I will for sure be staying here again. Such a good deal for the price!

Mazatlan is a 'down home' Mexican resort...a great value. Restaurants and attractions are very reasonably priced and the service everywhere is great.

The city has a good economy based on many industries beside tourism, in fact tourism is makes up only a small percentage of the economy. The result is you feel a part of real Mexico while you are there.

The beaches are wonderful and plenty...reminding me of the coast of Southern California. The old historic center of town is a fascinating step back into old Mexico with great restaurants, music, shops, theater, art, and much more.

Getting around in taxi's, palmonia's, or buses is fast and easy. Or you can just walk to everything in the Golden Zone and hang out there...there is more than a mile of unobstructed coastline to walk and collect shells on in the Golden Zone alone.

The surf is nice and good for body or board surfing. The weather from November to May is moderate and warm for northerners.

Currently there is a building being constructed to the South of Islas Del Sol and from 8-5 there is some noise from the construction. We have priced the condo during this time accordingly.
