Mahinani's Farm offers a unique experience for visitors to stay in a peaceful location tucked directly between the mountains and the ocean.
Our Cabin is surrounded by soft rolling hills, giant royal palms, pines, coconut trees, flowers & tropical fruits in their seasons. Perfect for out-doorsy type guests wanting to spend quality time on beautiful grounds away from paved parking lots, elevators & the public.
Our farm sits up on a bluff, close enough to the ocean to hear it and walk to it. Yet, in the case of a tsunami warning there is no need to evacuate as we are not in the evacuation zone. The walk to the beach is very enjoyable. Its down a shady little road that takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the pace.
Located in the East for the perfect base to explore both sides of the island from.
The cabin has Wi-Fi reception.
As members of Hawaii Agri-Tourism we are pleased to extend a warm invitation to come stay with us and enjoy the beauty of our farm in Anahola, Kauai.
Don & Diana Mahi. Originally from Oahu but have been living on Kauai since 1975.
I was immediately in love with this charming little cabin. I joined my sister who had already been there for two weeks. We spent another week there and each day was full of peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the resorts. Diane was a most gracious hostess and saw to our every need. The cabin is secluded and yet it takes only a few minutes drive time to beautiful Anahola Beach. We drove all over the island to see the sights. But at the end of the day it seemed like a little piece of Heaven returning to that quaint little cabin with that marvelous outdoor shower!
I highly recommend this this wonderful little cabin for your stay on Kauai.
Peaceful surroundings and centrally located to any activity. Lovely beach a short distance away. Our host, Diana Mahi was quite accommodating and friendly. I would recommend to to a couple or a single wanting a peaceful environment to enjoy the beauty of Kauai from or needing a place to get just get away from a hectic world. Loved the outdoor shower.
My husband and I came to Kauai for a week in February and are so glad we chose to stay here! It's off the beaten path, but still convenient to all the destinations we enjoyed all over the island. We are generally not big resort types and after spending a day down in Poipu and later driving through Princeville, were reminded how nice it was to be away from all of the tourist hustle and bustle.
The views of the mountain from Diana's property are incredible and the lush surroundings add to the experience of being in a true paradise. We loved the outdoor shower (complete with chirping geckos at night!) and found all the amenities we needed and more (beach chairs, snorkel gear, washing machine, a well-equipped kitchen, etc). We even enjoyed the DVD collection a bit on a rainy winter night (which, by the way, was the most pleasant rainy winter night I can imagine! Still warm enough to keep the windows open and listen to the soft rush of wind and rain in the palms).
Just a couple tips to make your stay even more enjoyable:
- The puppy on the property, Coconut, is a total sweetheart, but do heed Diana's warning to keep him off the porch..he won't hesitate steal your shoes (as puppies do!). Luckily I got mine back with only minimal chew marks, thanks to Diana's prompt reply when I alerted her!
- If you are a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs. Kauai's feral roosters are no joke!
Also, definitely check out the burger place and the juice hale down the road. The general store has some great poke that you don't want to miss!
We had such a lovely stay and are already trying to figure out when we can come back and stay again. I absolutely recommend this property to any nature lover who is looking for a serene retreat away from the crowds!
Diana was fantastic to deal with for the rental. We stayed for 5 nights and the cabin was even more equipped than we had realized! Beach chairs, cooler, packs etc were all really handy and well used. A perfect stay and sad we had to leave so soon! Exactly as pictured and described - no hesitations to recommend this rental.
A perfect anecdote to a soulless resort. Private, quiet (except for the roosters, but it is Hawaii and they are literally everywhere) and equipped with all the things you would need to enjoy your stay - beach chairs and towels, small cooler and freezer packs, etc. Beautiful setting in walking distance to a relatively uncrowded beach, or easy drive to points north. Close to Kapaa for plenty of restaurants and a well-stocked small store nearby. If you're looking for something different and a little bit rustic, this place is it.
Enjoy complete privacy. Our cabin is more island style artsy then corporate. For those who love nature and want to experience our simple island life style. A very pleasant place to be rain or shine.
Reasonably near to many fine restaurants, quaint shopping villages and unrivaled outdoor activities.
Steps away from our farm is world renown Auntie Angeline's Mu'olaulani Spa. An Aboriginal Hawaiian practitioner of Traditional Hawaiian Wellness Treatments that include purifying steam, rejuvenating full-body scrubs using therapeutic Hawaiian Alae, Sea Salt, and Coconut Oil to exfoliate, cleanse and detoxify the body.
