I have been a Naples resident for 17 years. I am a yoga teacher, organic gardner and tropical fruit tree grower. I love this area and am very happy to share it's charm with you.
Marianne Luch purchased this cottage in 2000
This is a lovely cottage- a nature lover's delight - in the center of it all.
A MUST RETURN! Nothing to dislike at Marianne's Cottage. In good weather enjoy the beautiful landscaping, eat on the deck underneath the poinciana tree, relax in the rocker or comfy recliner while reading a good book. If it should rain the bright interior with its soothing and attractive decor, flat
screen T.V., and Bose sound system allow one to pass the hours very happily. For the person who still wants to cook on holiday the kitchen is extremely well equipped. All this within short distance of theatres, good food markets, upscale boutiques, and for the tennis enthusiast the Pelican Bay Park Community Tennis Club. Yet, one does not hear any traffic noise from nearby US 41. Marianne is most welcoming and helpful, while at the same time allowing her "guests" the privacy some may wish. The property inside and out is meticulously maintained. We highly recommend this haven to those looking for a quiet retreat but one which is convenient to all that Naples offers.
How do I begin to convey how much we enjoyed our stay at Marianne's cottage? As a gardener myself, I know how much work goes into designing and maintaining a garden. I simply loved Marianne's creation of a beautiful nature retreat. Beauty surrounded the cottage. I especially enjoyed how the cottage seemed to be embraced by nature. You could sit or stand anywhere in the cottage and look out the windows and see beautiful foliage, flowers and landscaping. The cottage was filled with light. Marianne was a gracious hostess and very attentive to our every need. She even drove us to the beach one day when there weren't any more parking spaces available at the beach. We greatly appreciated being able to use her bikes, a beach umbrella, beach chairs and a cooler. This made our daily trips to the beach very enjoyable!! The smoothies that she made us were excellent. Learning about chocolate pudding fruit was very tasty and fun! Her hostess skills are impeccable everything from having a welcoming balloon, fresh flowers throughout the cottage, soft music playing upon our arrival, a bottle of wine, a kitchen stocked with everything that you would need plus a Nespresso to being receptive to questions about the Naples area. We have used many VRBO units throughout the past three years, but we have never experienced a thoughtful hostess until we stayed at Marianne's cottage. We also greatly appreciated her flexible check in and check out times. At the risk of writing a short novel, I will stop. Needless, to say we are greatly anticipating a return visit.
I read the two reviews, Garden of Eden and Beautiful Garden Cottage, before writing this and I agree totally with what was said. So I will not repeat those accolades. What I will say is that after three years I feel like I am "returning home" when I stay at the hidden cottage in Paradise. Marianne and Merlin have become our dear friends and we look forward to the daily Merlin visits, when he comes to our door asking for treats. This hidden gem is like a gingerbread cottage in the middle of a fruit-tree jungle...orchids hanging from trees, bananas ripening, avocados ready for picking, guava brought to our door. Sitting outside at night with a nice breeze, drinking a glass of wine, looking at the stars...is this heaven or what? We have a small Brittany, Bitsy, who has become Merlin's love interest...but Bitsy's love is "hunting for gecko's"...from morning til night, there she is under the palm trees, pointing at anything rustling about. The totally enclosed yard (we think about 1 1/2 acres) helps us not to worry when we cannot find her...she's busy hunting. Don't be surprised to find a horse in the yard, either.
Marianne has placed a beautiful bronze, almost life-size, horse in the middle of this gorgeous yard to act as sentinel. We give this hideaway the highest praise, we will be in contact with Marianne and Merlin always, and when Naples is our destination, this cottage in the jungle will be our home.
My husband and I stayed at this charming cottage for 3 weeks over the 2015 Christmas holidays. We just loved it. The cottage was tidy and clean with a well equipped, modern kitchen, bathroom, and comfortable bed. We spent a lot of time on the outside patio surrounded by lush Floridian vegetation. Marianne, our host, came regularly to provide us with with papaya, avocado, tangerines and lemons from her trees. Her property provided a sanctuary after a day at the beach or exploring the sights of Naples. The cottage was only a few minutes drive from Vanderbilt Beach and many shopping areas .
We would not hesitate to stay at this cottage again.
As soon as we arrived at the cottage, we were in awe of the beauty. The cottage was everything we had seen online, plus some. Photos can't do the property justice. It's beautifully landscaped with fruits and plants of various varieties. There's a porch outside the cottage with an outdoor sofa and chairs, and a table for two with such a beautiful view.
Inside was lovely and very, very clean and decorated so nicely. Our bed was quite comfy, the bedroom had two windows, one on each of two adjacent walls providing cross ventilation. (We had come from 17 degree weather, so sleeping with the windows open was very refreshing.) The kitchen was well equipped, something we rarely see when we rent. Out back was a shed with a washer and dryer and two bicycles, among other things. We biked to the beach several days, but biking through the neighborhood was also very relaxing.
But I'm saving the best for last ... our landlady, Marianne. She was the best. She had a book of instructions on everything in the cottage and a list of things to do, places to go, restaurants, etc. Anything you might need, she had already thought of it, the cottage was well equipped. She is a friendly, happy, upbeat person. A real pleasure to be around. We never felt like tenants, always felt like friends who'd come to visit.
Would I stay there again? Would I recommend it to my friends? ABSOLUTELY!
My partner and I were lucky enough to spend a wonderful, relaxing week in Marianne's cottage in November when we visited from London - we can't recommend the cottage, Marianne and her hospitality highly enough. It was a delight to meet the handsome Merlin too!
The cottage itself is beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly need, with thoughtful, generous details that make it completely luxurious and a true home from home. Everything is of the highest quality, the decor is gorgeous and (our weakness) we loved having a nespresso machine for coffee in the morning! Marianne was on hand whenever we needed to make sure everything was working perfectly and she catered for every detail. Nothing was too much trouble. Equally, the cottage is extremely private and has it's own entrance - Marianne was an incredibly respectful and gracious host.
The final touch was the abundance of tropical fruit from Marianne's own garden and provision of a blender with which to make delicious, frosty smoothies every day! We loved taking these to the beach in the cool box that Marianne kindly lent to us.
Thank you so much for everything Marianne and I hope we will make it back some day, we wish you and Merlin all the very best.
