We are Kirk and Marion Love, we reside in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Kirk has always lived in Michigan and Marion is originally from North East England.
Kirk or Marion Love purchased this villa in 2008
When we first visited the Island many years ago we fell in love with it and the beautiful people. We decided it would be a wonderful place to have a vacation home.
It is very quiet and peaceful, definitely a place for rest and relaxation. It took us a couple of years to find the perfect location and home and we could not be happier with our choice. The sunrises are spectacular and the views are breathtaking.
This was our our second time staying at Barefoot Beach Villa. We just love this property and the caretaker, Howard, is wonderful. Although we did not need to call him for anything the 12 days we were there, he checked in every few days to make sure everything was ok. Kirk and Marion have added a lot of new furniture as well as a tiki hut on the beach which we loved as you don't have to be in the sun all day. The house has everything you will ever need and more. Beautiful island, beautiful people, amazing vacation.
Our family of five (49, 49, 22, 19 and 15) truly enjoyed our vacation. The location of the villa was ideal for day trips to the north and south and its proximity to Governor’s Harbour, “Ten Bay” beach and Savannah Sound was perfect. The villa beach offered delightful entry and temperature, and breezes off the Atlantic made for idyllic beach conditions. Owner Kirk and caretaker Howard were excellent resources and were especially helpful when we experienced a major flight delay that impacted our arrival. The villa was clean and well-stocked and Howard was just a phone call away. The only hiccup during our stay, which was completely out of the control of Kirk and Howard was the almost non-existent wifi access due to BTC system issues. Fortunately, Haynes Library, Da Perk Coffee Shop and several restaurants offer wifi access. It was really only an issue during the “down time” in the evening hours for our children, and somehow they managed through the “old school” experience!!!
The villa provided plenty of room for our family of five and offered a complete kitchen and outdoor gas grill for meals on-site. Based on our vacation experience in Exuma in 2015, we traveled with a carry-on cooler with frozen steaks, luncheon meat/cheese, ground beef and hotdogs, which allowed us to spend more time enjoying outdoor activities, as well as benefit from significant savings on restaurant meals for a family of five. That said, we did enjoy excellent meals at Tippy’s, Rainbow Inn, Barracuda’s at Harbour Pointe and Coral Sands in Harbour Island. And we were delighted with the breakfast muffins at Da Perk Coffee Shop in Governor’s Harbour!
The Barefoot Beach Villa location offered us many options, activities and adventures! We enjoyed the activities below and have plenty on the list for our next vacation to Eleuthera:
• Day trip to Harbour Island, Sapphire Blue Hole and Preacher’s Cave; Tour of the Cape Eleuthera Institute, lunch at Barracuda’s at Harbour Pointe and a visit to Deep Creek Beach; ½ day Savannah Sound excursion with FishBone Tours; Horseback ride on French Leave Beach with OceanView Farms; ½ day bonefishing trip in Savannah Sound with FishBone Tours, as well as DIY bonefishing at Ten Bay Beach and Savannah Sound; Rock Sound Ocean Hole and an afternoon at Whiteland Beach 2; Shelling at Comber’s Beach.
Thank you again to Kirk (and Howard) for a wonderful vacation in Paradise!
This property was ideally located, extremely private, very clean and well stocked. The beauty of this property will take your breath away. Although the house was not super luxurious, it was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Like many of the reviewers, our family enjoyed the beach outside the house as much as any other we visited. The owners were easy to communicate with and sincerely cared about our experience. We did encounter a bad storm which blew out the screens and knocked out the wi-fi. We spent some time removing about 3 inches of water from the screened porch as it threatened to come in the house but that was an act of nature and not a reflection on the home. A crew came over early the next day to fix the screens and clean up the remaining water. The lack of wi- fi was actually a blessing since we didn't deal with work related problems ( we can never seem to get away from them). I would not hesitate to recommend this home and would love to return some day.
We just returned from a family vacation and 8 days at Barefoot Beach Villa. From the first contact with Kirk to book the rental to the day we left, the process was professional, easy and friendly. Howard is a gem and ready to answer any questions you might have and very responsive to any concerns. The information about the house is spot on, as are the pictures. The view from the house is spectacular, the pictures don't do it justice! We really could have spent everyday at "our" beach and been perfectly happy...and almost alone. The location is perfect for exploring the island, close to most of the best provisions, esp The Island Farm. The only small issue we had was finding enough working snorkel fins for 6 adults, a few of the pairs had broken/ missing straps. I would recommend Barefoot Beach Villa to anyone, without hesitation! I hope to return to this beautiful piece of paradise again soon!
We stayed at Barefoot Beach Villa recently and had an amazing trip. The house was centrally located on the island so it was easy to go north or south. We ventured out frequently to all the beaches we had read about and were not disappointed, however we thought that barefoot beach was the best! Many days were spent swimming, kayaking and walking the beach since you could walk for miles! The view from the house and beach is breathtaking.
The house had everything we needed from beach chairs, cooler, towels, snorkels etc...We cooked a lot of our meals at the house since the kitchen was so well equipped. The whole house is very comfortable and feels like home.
Eleuthera is such a restful island and the house aided in the much needed escape from our busy lives. I would definitely recommend Barefoot Beach Villa to anyone, we are planning to bring our three girls back so they can appreciate the beauty. We also were amazed at how friendly and safe the island was!
Thank you Kirk and Marion for opening your home, and thank you to Howard for your wonderful conversation and info! We will be back!
We had a fabulous vacation at barefoot Beach Villa. The house and beach and view are absolutely beautiful. I have been to Eleuthera several times and would highly recommend Barefoot Beach Villa.
