|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
We have made every effort to set our 2nd home up with all the little details that will make your stay comfortable, relaxing and convenient.
The home is in a beautiful peaceful lake front neighborhood and therefore may not be used for noisy parties. We have great relationships with our neighbors. It is just a few miles from the small town of Brussels, in the area often referred to as Southern Door.
Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds and the third bedroom has a set of bunk beds with a queen on the bottom & a twin on the top.
Two additional guests(#7&8) can be accomodated on the fold out futon in the lower level family room with additional fee of $25 per person/night, upon prior approval.
I want to mention up front that the cottage is on a well and the water contains a lot of minerals including iron. It has been tested and is safe for consumption but some people do not care for the taste or smell. I simply use bottled water in recipes that may have the flavor affected by this.
I love living near the water!! This home is one of our favorite places to vacation, whether it is for one night, one week, or more! Waking up in the morning and the first view right from my pillow is the water; Just sitting on the deck and listening to the waves while I read a book; and in the evening watching the sunset. When my husband & I travel we also love to go to other places that are on the water. Our primary home is just 15 miles away in the city of Sturgeon Bay, WI.
Jill Schwarzbauer purchased this cottage in 2012
When we started looking for property we decided that there was no place more beautiful than Door County in the summertime. But we prefer the Southern Door area for the quiet and when we do finally retire here years from now we will be close enough to Green Bay and all it has to offer, including the airport only 30 miles away, while still being able to take a drive to the northern part of the county any day we choose.
And when family comes to visit we can all stay together and easily make day trips to all of the reasons that Door County is considered a primo vacation destination.
The place was very clean and neat , the view from the deck was amazing and they had so many of the little amenities a person usually forgets, would definitely stay there again , have no complaints at all.
We really enjoyed our stay and are already trying to figure out when we can come back!
A bit off the beaten path; farther away from many Door County attractions than I originally anticipated but I also loved that about the place! It was so serene and you really cannot beat the sunset view, just amazing!
House was clean; many cute toys and games for my kiddos to discover. Jill, the owner, was very communicative and quick to respond to texts/emails.
We cannot wait to come back!
Jill, the property owner, and her staff are very helpful and accommodating. They went out of their way to help us with a special request. The property is perfect for anyone wanting a quiet get-away, and yet it is close to all the activity in Door County (including those wonderful wineries).
We plan to make this an annual event.

We just returned from Door County and we had such an amazing time. Jill was incredible at communicating with us in advance and answered several of my questions. When we arrived, we couldn't believe what a gorgeous view we had. This view is accessible from the backyard, deck, living room, and 2 of the bedrooms. In addition to the fact that it served as a perfect base for touring Door County, my girls loved exploring the property. They built stone cairns by the waterfront, went canoeing, caught a fish, and made s'mores and hobo-dins over the firepit. We have previously rented cabins before but they had never provided fishing poles, a canoe and a gas grill before. It also offered the best equipped kitchen of any rental we have previously stayed in. When a spectacular storm rolled in over the bay, we explored the DVD/Blu-Ray collection and watched Downton Abbey. This is the first rental place we've had where my girls asked to come back again as opposed to finding a new place to explore.
Pros: the view is amazing, sunsets were incredible to watch, quiet location, nice fishing on the canoe, and Jill (the owner) is very friendly and helpful.
Cons: the location is not close to the touristy/vacation areas of Door County. This location is in southern Door County, which is really just rural Wisconsin. You will have to drive 30 minutes or so to the closest activities (Sturgeon Bay), but even that is not really what you think of when you think of Door County. The beach is only slightly usable (unapproachable, super rocky and not really an area to sit down), and you have to descent 45 stairs to get to it. The outdoor play set was too old/dirty for much use (our 4 year old could swing, but didn't climb or slide due to the dirt).
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again soon.We have stayed in several VRBO homes and this one did not disappoint. The owner was very responsive also in helping us get familiar.
Located in a beautiful, peaceful, natural setting with amazing sunsets over the lake. Our home is on the bay side of Door County, where the water is normally calmer and warmer. It is away from the crowds of the northern area of the county but is a beautiful drive to all that our gorgeous county has to offer. If you prefer to stay in the middle of the tourist shopping & activities please consider looking for a place in northern Door County, I want you to have your ideal Door County experience!
