My husband and I love living in Victoria. We do a lot of travelling to other places but we are always happy to come home to our beautiful city. There are many wonderful things to do in Victoria and we have a very full and happy life here. I am retired from a Social Services career and I now do volunteer counselling. I also volunteer at Victoria Hospice interviewing and recording life stories for people. I love walking along the Dallas Road waterfront and I spend a lot of time in the off leash dog park with my friendly Welsh Terrier Loki. My husband is a College Geology Professor who leads lots of local field trips to our photogenic and interesting coastal exposures and parks. He is always happy to explain local points of interest, access and natural history. We enjoy meeting new people.
Colleen Hamilton purchased this house in 1985
Great location, very central. Steps from the waterfront and just twenty minutes walk to downtown Victoria.
Cook Street Village and Dallas Road Walkway are both about 400 meters away.
We spent six glorious weeks at Cambridge by the Sea and if it had not already been booked, we would have stayed longer. The proximity to the water, Beacon Hill Park, Cook Street Village, downtown etc makes it a perfect vacation spot. The unit is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The icing on the cake is the host, Colleen, who went out of her way to make us feel at home and so very welcome. She provided regular tips about places to see, events to attend, restaurants, bakeries, etc. She truly is one of the nicest people we have ever met. Having fresh cut flowers and an excellent choice of red and white wine on our arrival was such a treat. This pet friendly vacation rental is a great home away from home.
We were fortunate in having picked Cambridge by the Sea for a four week rental March 31 to April 27, 2016. The suite is a large one-bedroom unit and also includes a comfortable sofa bed for extra sleeping. The fully equipped kitchen (including a variety of condiments and basic grocery items) was useful in preparing home-cooked meals and snacks and a large dining room accommodated 6 easily. The brand-new mattress in the master bedroom was luxuriously comfortable and the large living room with flat-screen TV and electric fireplace was lovely for lazy evenings after a full day exploring all lovely Victoria has to offer. The location was superb. Walking distance to downtown, Fishermen's Wharf, Beacon Hill Park. Cook Street Village and the Dallas oceanfront is only a few steps away. I highly recommend this property for a long (or short) term stay. The owners live on the main floor of the property and invited us to enjoy their magical garden. The purpose of this trip was a house-buying expedition and we were successful so I will be calling Victoria home in a few short weeks, but I will definitely recommend Cambridge-by-the-Sea to visiting family and friends in the future.
We could not have been more comfortable than we were staying at this lovely apartment. We loved the proximity to the ocean, Beacon Hill Park, downtown. Every day the first thing we did was to look towards the ocean and the Olympic Mountains and every day for more than two months it was different. We experienced some amazing storms, lots of rain and greens we miss terribly. We have been travelling in an old Campervan for the better part of 18 months so stopping here was luxurious. We would highly recommend this apartment in a terrific location and return ourselves in a heartbeat.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the homeowner - fresh flowers and wine welcomed us in our beautiful
apartment. We immediately felt at home and were very comfortable.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, furnishings were so tasteful. beautiful flooring and oriental
rugs - owners have wonderful taste!!
Everything that we needed and more was provided.
Such a wonderful location -- close to the water and walking paths, Cook Street is filled with wonderful
restaurants and stores - people were so friendly and the weather was great.
I would recommend this apartment to all of my friends and family who are travelling to Victoria.
Thank you both for making our stay so wonderful and for all your kindness.
Hopefully we can return to Victoria soon.
Amazing location and wonderful accommodations. Thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and a bottle of wine greeted us, along with the amazing owners who made our stay very special!! Can walk to everything... Beaches, dog parks, the beautiful inner harbor, the wharf, Fort St antique shops and restaurants. We will definitely look forward to staying there again as soon as possible. Highly recommend!!!
We spent a week here in August and loved it. The location is great - close to the ocean, Beacon Hill park and the shops on Cook Street. The apartment is beautiful, very comfortably furnished with a well-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. We were three adults sharing a one-bedroom suite and the door on the living room made it a very private sleeping space. We look forward to returning and would definitely recommend!
