Finally: why Crete? It is a wonderful island with rich culture, history, amazing food, wine, and beaches. Wonderful culture (it’s a little different from mainland Greece but really vibrant and wonderful). It’s a must for anyone to go at least once in their life. Be sure to visit the famous Palace of Knossos which was, according to Greek mythology, the residence of King Minos and was the symbol of the Minoan civilization. The Palace is magnificent and must be seen to be believed. The Samaria Gorge is the longest in Europe and is an exhilarating visit. One beach not to be missed is Preveli Beach, with its crystal clear water, sandy beach and gorge with waterfalls all year round. Just so many beautiful and wonderful places to visit; worth the trip.
