We fell in love with the architecture and unique medieval setting of this quaint and picturesque old world city. It's thrilling to be surrounded by so much history and yet involved with a country that is establishing it's new place among its European neighbors and economy.
Walking distance to shops, art galleries, performances, restaurants, coffee and wine bars, boat harbor, medical facility, several banks, post office, town offices, grocery stores, bakeries, outdoor vegetable market, cheese and fish stores, craft shops; comfortable drive to nearby medieval villages and mountaintop scenery; easily accessible by car to the rest of Europe
As for the apartment, it was wonderful -- extremely well located and reasonably priced -- we really enjoyed it! The apartment was fantastic -- we had a fabulous time. I'm so glad it was available during the time we were in Rovinj. You were right -- we fell in love with Rovinj -- it really is a charming little city.
We are experienced backpack travelers but since hitting our 70's we have begun to savor some comforts along with a genuine local experience. This place in the historic part of Rovinj provides both. The location was superb- we felt smug going home up hill over the white cobbles, while other tourists were going home walking down the hill. The place is cozy, as advertised, with a small bedroom and a foldout sofa for the third person. The kitchen came equipped for travelers on a short stay and we even had a clothesline out the kitchen window to hang our undies along with our neighbors and pretend we were locals. Dave met us at the bus and escorted us to the apartment in the rain even though the bus was late, and made sure all our, questions about the apartment and local a,emotes were answered before he left. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would recommend both Rovinj and the apartment to others who like to feel a part of the local scene.
Very quaint and old (200 years) and ideally located but a few issues that have already been commented upon on Tripadvisor website which we hoped had been resolved. But no - main bed still sags in middle (my partner had to spend his nights on the couch) and the water in the bath/shower still does not drain. There were other issues also - unsecured handrail down exterioe steps as well as a hand rail in the shower that dislodges itself when you hold on to steady yourself - both safety hazards. Interior lights do not always operate effectively and the toilet seat cover does not stay up independently. The caretaker apologised for some of these misfunctions but this is not good enough when one thinks one is paying for a comfortable apartment. With a little tender loving care this apartment could be sensational. Listen to what the clients are saying!
Beautiful little place in a perfect location. The apartment was very nice for the money. It is located in the heart of Rovijn on a cobble stone lane. My wife and I chose this place to stay on our trip to Rovijn and were very happy as it is a very quaint and close to everything, including resturants, bank machine, grocery store, market and the ocean. On another note, my wife and I have vacationed in Europe for the last 3 years in a row and Rovijn is easily one of our favorite places! It's a toss up between Rovijn and Murren (Switzerland)
We enjoyed our stay very much; the location is perfect for people who like to walk and enjoy a very clean, intimate space in which to stay.
The property manager was helpful, and the owner always responded to our pre-trip questions very quickly.
We especially enjoyed the produce at the farmers market and the one hour scenic boat tour.
We stayed 5 nights in late August, 2013. Considering the rate and location, this apartment was one of the best values we had during our entire three week vacation. Communication with the owner was great leading up to our visit.
It is small and the kitchen really only has room for one person at a time but we still enjoyed staying there. It is located on one of the less travelled routes up to the Church and we enjoyed just sitting on the steps people watching and enjoying a glass of wine.
Complaints are minor but the main bed was a bit tired (sagging in the center) and could use replacing. My daughter just slept on the couch (she never pulled out the bed) and said it was okay. The tub/shower has an odd setup with the water heater actually IN the shower stall above the half size tub. This made for a difficult shower for someone tall (like me) forcing you to sit rather than stand. This would have been okay except that the tub was draining VERY slowly. Not optimum if you prefer showers. We did leave a note for the caretaker about the drain so hopefully this was fixed for the next renters.
Garet, if we get back to Croatia and Rovinj, we will definitely consider staying in your apartment again.
A small apartment in the heart of the old city - perfect! Well appointed temporary home that provided a cozy space to make breakfasts, lunches and dinners or to stroll out the front door and just around the corner for a lovely meal with the locals and/or tourists. The greeter for the property was prompt to respond prior to our initial meeting and to additional questions upon arrival. If you are a walker this apartment offers the best of in town delights as well as a nice waterfront walk to the beaches along the coast. This was our first visit to Croatia but we look forward to retuning to Rovinj and our lovely apartment in the old city!
My apartment is located in the heart of the old medieval city of Rovinj, with cobblestone streets, picturesque arches, and a cathedral at the top of the hill. It is a very short walk to a variety of excellent restaurants, wine bars, music venues, and art galleries.
