About Sue Bostic

Hi, my name is Judy Sublett Lane. I now reside in California with my husband Brenton. My homeplace, where I spent many of my teens years, is available now as a Vacation rental property so that others can find the peace and comfort that I had when much younger. I want to share that special joy, that I had when I lived there, with others.

Sue Bostic purchased this house in 2008

Why Sue Bostic chose Newport

This property was given to me by my parents who have now passed away. So it will be such a joy to have others find love, laughter and good times like I remember when the Sublett family lived there. My parents built the house in 1968.

What makes this house unique

We have worked on the house and have made it very comfortable and clean for our guest. It is situated right in the middle of the Christmas tree farm that my father started 50 years ago. It holds a special place in my heart and will always be home to me. I want to share that with you and your family. Please enjoy your stay as if I was there to welcome you and to say 'make yourself feel right at home.'

Guestbook comments from the manager

Hi Sue,

I have been meaning to comment about your Sublett Place, but did not see a section to do it.

My family thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Sublett Place. The cleanliness was incredible. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. My 81 year old mother was very comfortable!

I loved having the cottage available also. Staying at this home made my daughter's wedding weekend more enjoyable ( even though it rained the whole time!)

Everyone we met in the area were helpful and friendly.

Thank you,

Rena Long

Nice Place Off The Beaten Path

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Sublett Place as a stopover on a long trip back to North Carolina. We have 3 children under 7 and they loved being able to run around outside after driving all day and hike around the tree farm across the street. We loved that we were able to relax with great weather and grill out rather than stuffing all five of us in a hotel. We will definitely go back in the fall and stay a few days!

Just what we wanted!

  • 4 of 5

Our whole family was coming into town for our daughter's graduation from VaTech. We wanted a place to enjoy hanging out together but still convenient to the campus. This was perfect. We had everything we needed to cook breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening. The owners even supply coffee fixings which was a nice surprise. The beds are already made and plenty of towels provided. We also found that the owner was very responsive whenever we needed to make contact during the reservation process. We'd definitely stay again should the need arise. Oh, and we loved all the attention to the grounds with the herb garden and lots of flowers blooming.

Nice home

  • 5 of 5

I had a college reunion with 7 other friends to watch our alma mater (Maryland) play Va Tech. We wanted a place where we could gather to eat, play cards and just catch up. And this place was perfect. There were pullout couches, the place was clean and it was in a remote area but not far from campus. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could only because there are only 2 bathrooms (with a window where you can sort of see through one bathroom into the other) and because you can't get cellphone service (but they do have wifi). But other than that, it was an ideal place.

2nd time staying here

  • 5 of 5

We came down for family weekend at the college. It was great to bring our student "home" for the weekend. Very relaxing for her and she was able to get a break from campus. We visited Joes Trees again and enjoyed picking pumpkins and ghourds for fall. Wonderful mountain views and the stars at night and sunrise were great, wonderful pictures taken. After campus activity during the day we bought food and cooked meals at the home. The home is very inviting. We have younger children also who enjoyed board games. They also brought their homework and finished it at the house. Truly home away from home. My children love staying here. What a treasure.
