Originally from Tennessee and New York, we love art, architecture and the outdoors. We have traveled to many countries but Lake Santeetlah is one of the most beautiful places we know. We love to share our favorite spot with family, friends and people who appreciate beauty and nature.
In 2015 we decided it was time to rebuild our deck, create new porches, and renovate the interior. We have updated bathrooms and appliances and have added a bedroom on the main floor. What you get will be essentially an new lake house.
Lucia Case purchased this house in 2005
I have been coming to Western NC all my life and grew up with a lake house on Lake Ocoee, TN. When we discovered Lake Santeetlah, boated and skiied in the deep coves, hiked in the protected forests and paddled nearby rivers, we knew this was a place to come back to over and over. When we saw the million dollar views from this house and saw how well built, private and comfortable it is, we were sold! At 2000 ft elevation, pristine Lake Santeetlah is 2,800 acres and an only 20% of its 80 miles of shoreline can ever be developed. The lake levels are stable and the lake only drops 10 feet, even in the winter.
We own over 200 ft of shoreline on the main body of the lake and have have a great waterfront for swimming, fishing, and boating. The house is great for all ages, and the bedrooms are spread out for privacy. Includes two living rooms for entertaining , TV on both levels, well-equipped kitchen, separate dining room for 12, outdoor cooking and dining, wood burning fireplace, fire pit, lots of decks and porches. Safe and scenic places to walk or jog. Canoe and kayaks are toys we like to share.
I hesitate to write this review as I do not want others to discover this fantastic property! The views and home are outstanding! I can not recommend this property enough! The owner of this property was incredibly nice and very responsive to our needs. We will be back next year!
The home is beautiful from the multilevel mahogany decks and fine wood work throughout to the fully equipped kitchen. The panoramic lake views capture the Smokey Mountain grandeur. Each bedroom met with satisfaction of the occupant and no one felt shortchanged on their room. Two levels of living areas allowed for a peaceful reading area for some while NBA finals played below. There is even a pool table which entertained us after great dinners. The dock is prime for swimming and docking the pontoon boat rented from the local marina. A great outdoor seating area with a fire pit overlooks the lake and the lovely landscaped hillside that the home presides over.
This home was beautiful and perfect for meeting our 3 grown sons. It's centrally located with easy access from Knoxville, TN. I've been on numerous lakes but Santeetlah is even more spectacular with the surrounding mountains and clear water. We rented a boat for the week and enjoyed being out on the water both day and night. The house is very accommodating with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. The living space was comfortable and cozy for reading, playing games and visiting. The kitchen is well equipped as we cooked breakfast each morning. My favorite aspect was the broad deck overlooking an expansive view of the lake. We will return
The property was easy to find and get and well located. The house has plenty of room and rooms for 10 people. The split plan was great for the kids. The views of the lake and mountains were amazing. It was the perfect place for a family vacation for Thanksgiving and the house has everything we needed. The canoes and kayaks were great to take across the lake and go hiking. Very close to town, the Appalachian Trail, and the Tail of the Dragon. We would definitely go back again.
Our family of 9 adults (age 52-88) recently enjoyed a wonderful week on Lake Santeetlah in Lucia's very comfortable home. The home is spacious with plenty of comfy beds for everyone as well as the living room and den downstairs so we never felt crowded. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. We cooked breakfast each morning and supper every evening and enjoyed family meals and many a card game on the lovely breakfast table. The views from every room are breathtaking. Although it was chilly it did not stop us from enjoying the kayaks and the fire pit area below the house. We used the house for "home base" for exploring the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and nearby sites Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Fontana Dam & the legendary Tail of the Dragon Hwy 129. Lucia was great to work with responding immediately to email questions and providing suggestions. The house is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood so we enjoyed quiet walks & trails she suggested. Our deposit was returned in less than a week of departure. I hope to return to Lake Santeetlah and Lucia's lovely home with my adult kids to enjoy what the summer months have to offer. It is THE PERFECT family retreat.
The two sleeping levels was great for our family. The view of the lake and mountains from every room was spectacular. I especially appreciated the privacy as there was very little lake traffic which was great for our grandchildren using the water toys. The house was equipped with everything that we needed. The week went by too quickly as there were so many more things that we wanted to do.
