I was attracted to this home even before it was put on the market. When I bought it, it was in really bad condition. I gutted the whole inside and everything in it is brand new. Very comfortable and spacious home.
It was originally built as a church in 1945 and sometime in the 1980's the church sold it and it was turned into a home.
Our women's circle group from our church had their annual retreat at the Church House this weekend and it was wonderful. There were eight of us and we could have not asked for a better place to have our retreat. It is roomy and plenty of areas to read, watch TV or just take a nap. The linens were provided for us along with everything we needed to prepare our meals for the weekend. The Church house is close to stores for groceries, restaurants and also Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. Working with the owner of the Church house was so easy. Our group has already making plans to rent the Church House this same time next year. Thanks Judy Biston for such a wonderful place to get away.
My sister visited from Salem, OR. We wanted to show her “real Florida”. Relatives of 4 generations came from Miami, Panama City and Gainesville. We stayed in the Church House, fixed fresh fish from Shellys, paddled on the Weeki Wachee, swam at Rogers Park and Buccaneer, saw a mermaid show, visited Florida birds and animals at Homossassa Springs State Park. We felt immediately at home. My husband was particularly impressed by the workmanship of renovations. The children found plenty to entertain themselves with games, puzzles and videos. Those who were up early played in the comfortable breezeway without awakening others. Enjoyed walking to and shopping from artsy shops in the neighborhood. It was a perfect place for a wonderful multigenerational gathering. I enjoyed reading Judith's compilation of history of the area. Judith was a gracious hostess and accessible by phone.
We had a wonderful stay at the church house. The pictures do not do it justice!! The owner, Judy is very friendly and helpful, easy to work with and did a great job remodeling the place. We had our family Thanksgiving including our four legged friends. There was plenty of space for everyone and everything we needed to cook a full holiday meal. The house is a very short walk to several fun spots including The Freezer, McRae's (The Shed) and the water! We had kayaks and bikes and had easy access to everything. The motor boat ride to the springs to swim with the manatees is a short one and we biked to the park. I can't wait to book this house again and spend more times in Homosassa Springs. Well worth it. Thanks for everything, Judy!!
We recently hired a fishing charter and stayed at the Church House during our visit. The house was GREAT. It was about 5 minutes walking distance to MacRae's (the place where our fishing charter launched from). We had such a good time and the house was so nice, we have all decided to make this an annual trip. We will be back at the Church House again!!!!
Judy was great to work with and kept us well informed throughout the process of booking the house through our entire stay. It was a great experience!
This was our second trip staying at Church House and caught the last week of scallop season. Judy had everything fresh and clean for our arrival. We had six people (3 generations) and enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room for everyone. Enjoyed how the living area has two separate spaces with two TVs so the guys could watch their games and the girls catch what they wanted. The breezeway was nice to just go sit and talk. Fruit trees are starting to have grapefruit. We had a couple of rainy days and glad to have the games and cards that were provided.
River area, boats/dock, and restaurants are within easy walking distance. There are many sights to see within a short drive--such as Manatee State Park or several springs to swim. It was neat to see the manatees up close.
Thank you Judy for having the Church House. We will be back again!
This house has a great location - within walking distance to MacRae's, The Freezer and The Monkey Bar and River Safari rentals.
House is fully furnished with everything you need! Pots, pans, dishes, glasses, grill and an outdoor kitchen for cleaning fish. House was very clean and well maintained with nice upgrades of granite in the kitchen and bathrooms, tile through-out and a nice screened in breeze way. Master bedrooms is very large with great windows and a private bathroom. There is a laundry room off of the master bedroom.
We had 10 people stay at the house which has 3 bedrooms - 1 master bedroom and the other two bedrooms have two double beds each and the couch pulls out also.
We really enjoyed staying at the house and will definitely be staying here next year for our annual scalloping trip.
This home is walking distance to several local restaurants, bars and a fresh seafood market if you prefer to cook. It is not located on the water, but boat docking can be provided. You can also rent boats, canoes and kayaks 3 blocks away. You can drive to Crystal River, 7 miles, and visit Indian mounds, small mall and several other restaurants.
