After living most of the previous 30 years abroad (Japan, Guam, Morocco, the UAE, etc) we settled in Kitty Hawk, NC in 2010. We love the laid back beach lifestyle of the OBX and enjoy the challenges that come with 'life on a sandbar.'

With two large cottages separated by an Art Gallery/Gift Shop we felt this property offered a unique opportunity for investment. We completed renovations of the two cottages in August 2012 and look forward to opening the Gallery in May 2013.
Guests will love the location, comfort, and value of the Pirate Coast Cottages. So close to the beach but not right on the Beach Road with all its noise and traffic.
Perfect little get away for us and our dog. Great location, easy beach access. Clean everything you need for a small cottage. Plenty of sleeping room. Close to many restaurants, shops etc. Owner easily accessible through email and prompt answering! Will return.
Really enjoyed the week. The house is convenient to everything and has ample parking which we needed. Walk to beach was easy. House had plenty of beach chairs. We brought our dog which was awesome; no kennel. Kitchen is tight; basically a galley- type kitchen. Has all the basic utensils. Living room was open and comfortable. Beds were comfy. There's ceiling fans in the two master bedrooms. Bathrooms ok. Decks off all bedrooms. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks Dale!
We had a great time here. The house was clean and comfortable and a very close walk to the beach & shopping. It was my family and my parents and we loved having 3 & 1/2 bathrooms. Owner was very easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again!
The greatest attribute of this property is its location to the beach, grocery shopping, and Nags Head restaurants. Options for each are within a 5 minute walk away. Plus, the rates are reasonable, and it is pet friendly.
The property itself is in need of some serious love. Several repairs need to be made both inside (ie., large gaps in the laminate flooring, broken towel rack in downstairs master bath), and outside (ie. the door to the outdoor shower shared with the other rental unit next door has been torn off; part of the vinyl roof fascia is missing). My son got several splinters in their feet walking on the upper balcony. The furniture and the décor is dated. No major issues, but a bunch of small ones that add up to paint a picture that the property is perhaps past its prime or in need of some new investment.
If you're looking for something beyond basic amenities at a reasonable price and great location, this isn't for you. No pool, no patio, no game room, no hot tub, county-park-style charcoal grills, obstructed views, and a landscape that probably hasn't been touched in decades. You also need to be comfortable with sharing the outdoor spaces, including the shower and parking lot, with the folks in the other unit. But if you're looking for a bargain that sleeps 8 in the heart of Nags Head and you want to bring your dog along, this is a great option.
The house was great, everything was as advertised, the beach access is very close and it was a great place for my college friends and I to have a reunion since being dispersed across the state! Check in and check out were both very easy, and we all would love to visit again!
The only negative through the whole weekend was the Sony sound system with they Ipod dock is for the old type of Ipod with the large charging port. I assumed that there would be an auxiliary port to plug into. This was very minor, and did not negatively effect the weekend in the slightest.

We had a great stay easy walk to the beach. Nice yard for our pup and the outdoor shower was great for the after the beach rinse. The house had everything we needed for our stay and would recommend this location to all our friends and family. We are already talking of going back next summer.
