Overview

About the property

Clint Walker and Roger Miller also lived here!

Welcome to the Penfield mansion.

Once the home of Frank Sinatra, Clint Walker and then Roger Miller in the 1970s who raised his whole family here, this house is amazing with exceptional history that can be felt in every room! The hit song, King Of The Road was actually written by Roger Miller at the bar! We strive to provide a comfortable, safe and professional environment. The property sits on the top of a hill, all by itself on over an acre of land with 360-degree views of the whole city and is completely gated and secure. You have total privacy from all angles. There are no neighbors able to see the land or the house. Take a tour and see for yourself! High speed internet and cable TV included free of charge. The house also has a built in JBL sound system for radio, CDs, Ipod, MP3 players etc. Parking for 20 cars on premises.

See pictures for complete details on the house layout. I just completed a brand new driveway, expanded in width to accommodate 2 way traffic all the way up and down the hill, beautiful paver stones in the beginning of the driveway. Tons of additional outdoor lighting, landscaping and design. I expanded the main grass area in the backyard to 5000sqft and replaced the real grass with fake grass as well as built a lookout point for wedding photography. Totally flat and beautiful. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet. The house is at the very end of a culdesac, children can ride bikes in the street, its very safe. There are tons of fabulous restaurants in the area including Roys, Flemings, Ruth Chris, Benihana etc. all within 5 minutes.

All beds have the highest quality Egyptian cotton'Royal Velvet' fabulous down alternative comforters, very high count Egyptian cotton sheets and pillow cases, down alternative pillows and also firmer pillows to suite your taste. Bathroom towels, and large beach towels for the pool are always provided. Ping pong table, mini golf and pinball games on premises.

I recently started offering my guesthouse for rent, which is a separate structure located in the front of the property for an additional $150/night, it's 650sqft, freshly painted, has a Cal King and a temperpedic queen bed, 50in HD TV, private kitchen and bath, dishwasher, AC, bbq and private deck/patio with jacuzzi (upon request). Please email me for pics, as I am only allowed 24 pics on display. Several of my last renters have added it to their bookings and been very happy with it. If you don't decide to rent it, it will just be vacant during your stay. I do not rent the guesthouse separately, it is only offered to whatever guest is renting the main house.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

HAD AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING STAY

  • 5 of 5

Staying at this Woodland Hills mansion was definitely the best choice we made, when visiting Los Angeles. Its so private, and the house is so spacious, that we felt so relaxed and at ease while staying here. There are so many bathrooms and rooms, that your whole party can spread out and not be all in each others way.

The view is absolutely to die for you. You can see the whole San Fernando Valley and even beyond. The house is perched on top of a hill, and is like its own hideaway! With a private coded gate and long driveway, you feel like a celebrity, driving towards the house.

The kitchen is a true chefs kitchen! It has everything a restaurant would have, even restaurant quality and style fridge and freezer. And a huge bar counter. Where we would pop open a few bottles of wine and have long chats while preparing dinner.

The pool area, we nicknamed the mini playboy mansion, has a mini grotto area, and a huge lawn. We would sit out by the pool area and eat our dinner's watching the lights of the city.

The master room is the whole top floor. It is humongous. It has a shower that could probably fit like 10 people in it, and a balcony that overlooks the front of the house. We would often have our coffee on this balcony in the morning and watch the sun peeking through the tree's.

There's a pool table, pinball machines, and even a stripper pole in the back room! The house is classy, but also so much fun! It would definitely be PERFECT for huge parties, and weddings.

There is so much parking, which was great when we invited friends we knew in town to come over and visit.

Mike, the property owner, was just amazing throughout our whole stay and even after our stay! He made sure upon arrival that everything was clean and spotless. We had towels, and blankets, and pillows, everything. He even left a bunch of welcome home goodies in the kitchen for us. Chocolates and wine and fruit! Even after our stay he made sure we enjoyed ourselves and everything went well and we were happy.

And we are! Very happy! Definitely will stay again. We already booked a week in March and April!

We had the BEST time!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I planned our very simple and small wedding here. We also used this as our hotel for our out of town guests and it was the smartest thing we could have done. Everyone is envious of our idea and it could not have been a more perfect day. Everyone loved the historical elements and references to the famous folks who have stayed there. Our only complaint was that we were unable to find cleaning products, such as brooms and dust rags to help us keep the property clean for the event. We purchased a lot of things such as dish soap, hand soap, hand towels and the like, so that we had proper bathrooms for our guests. The charcoal grill is also more of a smoker than a grill, but we made it work. A propane grill would be an excellent addition to the house! Also, we were charged an "event" fee for extra clean up and the like even though we left the place cleaner than we found it. I did feel that there was some nickle and diming when it came to paying for the house. However, Michael was flexible, and was easy to work with. Many of my wedding guests will be contacting him to hold future parties and/or stays because it really is the perfect place.

Perfect place for a group to stay in! We LOVED cooking in the large kitchen, enjoying the scenery, and the beautiful backyard. Mike was a great host and just a text message away. Highly recommended!

Home in disrepair, and just OK for party purpose

  • 2 of 5

First, The house does not look like the photos.

We rented this house for my husband and our four adult sons to stay together for our niece's wedding. We also wanted to have space to have our extended family over for brunch after our niece's wedding.

The house is called a "mansion," but it is hardly that. It is more a party house, for things like bachelor and bachelorette parties. There is a pole for pole dancing in the party room, so if that's your thing, this is perfect.

The backyard proved to be fine for the brunch/lunch, but the furnishings and the state of the house showed neglect. It is as though someone somehow got ownership of the house but cannot afford to maintain it.

The house had numerous items that were broken, including the bar sink with blue tape across it; the shower in one of the bedrooms; the fountain outside (with "Do not touch" sign), the trampoline, (Also with a "Do not enter" sign). The pool and hot tub were filthy.

I could go on about the signs throughout the house saying things like "Do not touch" or "If you touch you will be charged $xxx.00."

I would highly recommend replacing and updating the furniture, painting the house so it looks less like a brothel and more like a nice house, as it is advertised.

On the upside, the owner did provide thorough instructions although we never met him. The house cleaner was there when we arrived and provided the key to the sliding doors. There was no key to the front door.

Owner's Response: I must say responding to a negative review like this is one of the hardest parts of the job as an owner because I am only happy when my guests are happy, but this review is just not accurate in so many ways I feel I have no choice. To start from the beginning, this guest was advised in advance that on the day of their check in, I had other guests checking out at 11am and their check in time was 4pm or later. At 8:47am I received a text from Janice saying she would be at the house at 11am. I advised her my current guests will just be leaving at that time, and that my housekeeper would not be done until 4pm. She arrived around 1230 with 8 people, and made it difficult for my housekeeper to finish the cleanup, I also had to cancel my plumber who was set to show up at 330 and fix the sink in the bar, and this was a friday so he was unable to come back until monday. The dance pole in the house can be removed upon request, however Janice never mentioned anything about it, or the pool being dirty (in her opinion) which I could've had cleaned again if necessary. As far as ownership of the house, I purchased the home in 2006 so this is my 11th year of ownership, in 2016 alone I spent $130,000 on a brand new driveway, complete remodel of the backyard, outdoor lighting etc, and most people would agree that a 6200sq ft home on an acre of land is a Mansion, but you are entitled to your opinion as well. Other work I have done during my 11 years: all new doors and windows (36 total), 7 remodeled bathrooms, converted 3 car garage to guesthouse with kitchen/bath, pool complete remodel with waterfall, 3 new AC/Heat central systems, all new ducting, stereo system throughout, new floors throughout entire house, putting green, sauna, phone booth, solar panels, new roof, trim metal, rain gutters, water mainline, sewer mainline, 400amp power and the list goes on. There are no "do not touch" signs in my home. Do not enter the trampoline is because CA law will not insure you as a renter, so it is for your own safety that you stay off. I am sorry you didn't like my paint colors or furniture, it is the exact same furniture in my photos, most people enjoy the house as you can see from my 97+ 5 star reviews. May I suggest the Beverly Hills Hotel for you and your family next time you vacation in LA, I am a competitively priced rental for people who are trying to save money from big hotels, I work very hard on the home and I feel your review was unnecessary and hurtful.
