HAD AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING STAY

  • 5 of 5

Staying at this Woodland Hills mansion was definitely the best choice we made, when visiting Los Angeles. Its so private, and the house is so spacious, that we felt so relaxed and at ease while staying here. There are so many bathrooms and rooms, that your whole party can spread out and not be all in each others way.

The view is absolutely to die for you. You can see the whole San Fernando Valley and even beyond. The house is perched on top of a hill, and is like its own hideaway! With a private coded gate and long driveway, you feel like a celebrity, driving towards the house.

The kitchen is a true chefs kitchen! It has everything a restaurant would have, even restaurant quality and style fridge and freezer. And a huge bar counter. Where we would pop open a few bottles of wine and have long chats while preparing dinner.

The pool area, we nicknamed the mini playboy mansion, has a mini grotto area, and a huge lawn. We would sit out by the pool area and eat our dinner's watching the lights of the city.

The master room is the whole top floor. It is humongous. It has a shower that could probably fit like 10 people in it, and a balcony that overlooks the front of the house. We would often have our coffee on this balcony in the morning and watch the sun peeking through the tree's.

There's a pool table, pinball machines, and even a stripper pole in the back room! The house is classy, but also so much fun! It would definitely be PERFECT for huge parties, and weddings.

There is so much parking, which was great when we invited friends we knew in town to come over and visit.

Mike, the property owner, was just amazing throughout our whole stay and even after our stay! He made sure upon arrival that everything was clean and spotless. We had towels, and blankets, and pillows, everything. He even left a bunch of welcome home goodies in the kitchen for us. Chocolates and wine and fruit! Even after our stay he made sure we enjoyed ourselves and everything went well and we were happy.

And we are! Very happy! Definitely will stay again. We already booked a week in March and April!

Great... on paper.

  • 2 of 5

Let me first say that this house may suit some groups and some circumstances. I am an admittedly picky person, with very high standards, and modern tastes, but if you're willing to settle for "pretty good" then this might be your spot. My co-host, who was the actual renter, loved it. Certainly it boasts a plethora of amenities you won't find anywhere else. Fun for everyone! That is, if you can figure out how to get them to work. Among other things, we encountered pinball machines that were not positioned to reach outlets, and a putting green without putters (we had to call for their location). We also encountered a large pile of party gear (folding tables and chairs, carafes, etc.) in the middle of the main patio. We called to make sure it was ok to move them. The owner told us they were supposed to be there and that it shouldn't matter because our party was only supposed to be a small one, though I'm not sure how our party size relates to what was not only a major eyesore, but a serious hazard as they were quite precariously in the way of the path to the pool. We moved them.

I think this house may be good for a multi-family get-away where you want to be able to stay out of each other's way. I found it challenging for a party because the layout is such that containment, and thus critical mass, is impossible to achieve - it is too big and disjointed. Perhaps a very large party would fill the space adequately. I will say that at least one of the stars, is for the owner's willingness to allow parties. I know that this is hard to find in the vacation rental market and I am grateful that we found a place where we could gather. However, it would seem that the parties have taken a toll. There is a general quality of grime and disrepair. And I won't even go into how poorly appointed the kitchen was. Suffice it to say that there wasn't even a wine bottle opener. This oversight was compounded by the 30 or so sticky and barren drawers that every person in search of some basic utensil or dish had to go searching through before realizing that the kitchen was essentially empty (To be fair there were pots, pans, and a few mismatched bowls plates and cups. No serving dishes. Bring your own dishes for a party of more than 10).

To end on a more positive note I would like to acknowledge and thank the owner for being available to fix the various issues we encountered. Though, obviously I would have preferred not to have encountered them to begin with.

It exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

Pretty amazing and unique property to have all the features it does. A perfect place for a party. Had amazing birthday celebration and was very relaxed because on a hill the sound wasn't a disturbance to any neighbors. Great views and very interesting lay out of house with lots of areas to explore and have different scenes going on all at once. Can't wait to throw another party there next year :)

Priceless family experience

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the property brought our entire family together for a weekend of fun. Our families came from all over the country and had the ability to hang out and play at this wonderful house for the weekend. The views were amazing, and the house was well equipped with everything we needed to make meals there for everyone. The owner was very easy to communicate with and fulfilled our every need for the accommodations. We will definitely use this place again, for future events! Thank you so much!

Perfect for a fun and relaxed wedding!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I contacted the owner, Michael, 9 months before our wedding date and he was happy to assist us. We were planning our own wedding and searching for a beautiful, relaxed, private setting for our ceremony and reception. This house was just what we were looking for!

Michael was extremely helpful and prompt in answering all of our questions about the house. We live on the east coast, so trying to plan and prepare without visiting the house involved many inquiries, and Michael was patient and helpful throughout. After our arrival, he continued to be quite helpful, coming by when there were any house issues, and quickly responding via text to our simple questions and requests. He was very flexible and easy to deal with, even accepting our chair/table delivery shortly before we arrived for check in!

The local vendors (nearby Cafe Fiore; equipment rental; shuttle service) had no trouble finding the place.

As for the house, the photos don't do it justice. It is GIGANTIC with PLENTY of room for our 80 guests. We held our ceremony on the lawn to take advantage of the gorgeous view. The ground was a bit uneven in places, so be aware that chair placement (and elderly guests) may have a few issues. I removed my heels and could walk down the aisle no problem, but if that's not an option, consider wedges or Solemates.

The PA system actually only runs by the pool, in the pool table room, and in the dining room. We needed it in to reach the bar, patio room, and ceremony in the yard too, so we had to rig our own speakers/wires to do so. Just something to be aware of.

Our guest list grew larger than originally expected, so some dinner tables were placed outside on the patio, and the rest were inside the patio room (we were lucky it was a very warm night in February!). We served our dinner buffet style, and there is a HUGE long counter in the kitchen which worked perfectly for this. The seating throughout the house allowed guests to find their own private conversation areas and activities before & after dinner, which was nice. With the doors open, the flow from pool-table-room/outside-patio/bar/patio-room worked perfectly, and people were able to mingle and dance well. All in all, I got nothing but compliments from our guests. They loved the house and it's history and had a great time.

If you can adjust and roll with some of the quirks and character of it, I would HIGHLY recommend this house for a wedding, family reunion, or similar celebration.
