Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, close to Beach, easy 10 minute walk to town

Casa Maravilla - loosely translated as 'Wonderful House'. And it is. It's a circular design with surprises at every view. This shady, private is perfect for bird-watching. A perfect location and just a block and a half from the beach and a 10 minute walk to the center of Sayulita.

“Casa Maravilla was a magical gem. Our family came to Sayulita to relax, celebrate, and enjoy family time together, and this home and town did it all for us. We celebrated our daughter’s first birthday here, and our son turned into the number one beach explorer. My wife relaxed and read, while I surfed. Everyone from Marcos to Lupe to Mitch made our trip so enjoyable. Can’t wait to return.”

'We came to Sayulita for a wedding and were the envy of all our friends once they saw our amazing accommodations. This place is wonderful.' Tim – Winnepeg, Canada

'We loved the house and location. Perfect really. Love the curvy design - pleasant breezes in every room. What wonderful architecture. And loved the mornings on the roof deck watching all the birds. Such a special home.” Ginny - San Mateo, CA

House specifics:

The lowest level is entered separately from the rest of the house and has an air conditioned bedroom (a king bed that may be converted for use as two twins), with a half bath in the utility area. To enter the main levels of the house, there is a half flight of exterior stairs that leads to the main level entry.

The main level consists of the main house entry hall, two large air-conditioned bedrooms and one bathroom - great shower - no tub. One bedroom has a double bed and the somewhat larger one has a king that can be converted to make two twins. Both bedrooms have generous work spaces for writing your next novel, etc. A portacrib is also provided for a little one. (Our house limit is 6 people + 1 small child.)

Up a flight of stairs is the living/dining/kitchen area. There is dining for 10 at the two tables, a well appointed kitchen, two couches and a nice full bathroom with shower. Also on this level is a terrace with a view of the ocean over the coconut palms. The house design is pretty amazing - it's shady, cool, and breezy - and ceiling fans are everywhere, in addition to the air conditioned bedrooms.

Then on the rooftop floor is a living area with really large banca, additional dining, a water closet in the pool pump room, and a small pool. All of this is covered by a beautiful and dramatic palapa. Night times are especially magical up on the roof. The pool’s about chest high - 10 or so in diameter - and great for relaxing, cooling off in the Summer, and whatever. The views on this level are pretty terrific - jungle, ocean, lovely neighborhood, etc.

'Que Bonita! Our first trip to Sayulita won’t be our last and I know where we’ll be staying from now on – Casa Maravilla has it all: pool, shade, quiet, hidden in the trees, great views and a wonderful rooftop palapa.' Pat, Sarah, and Little Liana. Boise Idaho.

“This house is so comfortable an beautiful. Everyone connected with it has been completely helpful and friendly. Would definitely return – actually – why am I leaving??”

'What a fabulous vacation. Thank you for opening your house to us. We had many wonderful meals in the kitchen, and many lazy afternoons by the pool. It was exciting to watch our little girl learn to swim in the pool…After a night out on the town it was so wonderful to come back to your comfortable home.' Mel, Jair, and Nova - British Columbia, Canada

'Great vacation spot! What a beautiful house! Michael, you have a jewel here! We have seen such a variety of wildlife, and such a tranquil spot with great food. This place definitely rates a return visit. Thanks for a memory.' Pete and Sue – CA

“Casa Maravilla was the perfect place for our first trip to Sayulita. We loved the bird watching from the dining table. Our baby learned many new words and bird calls thank to the abundant wildlife (caw, caw). Exploring Sayulita was so much fun!! Playa de los Muertos was peaceful and relaxing, and the beaches on the North end were simply stunning. Much thanks to Lupe and Mitch for making this a stress-free vacation. We can’t wait to return!”

Excellent home!

  • 4 of 5

Such a great atmosphere and location. It's about a 10 minute walk into town. There is a school right next to the property, so the chance of being woken up by kiddos playing outside is pretty high. Aside from that the neighborhood is pretty quiet. There are a several incredible restaurants nearby.

Relaxing and wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property and house, thoughtfully decorated and well-kept, walkable to the beach and downtown, and a wonderful palapa to lounge in. Someone also comes daily to do the dishes and clean the house. The house also has all the amenities you can think of for a perfect day on the beach - umbrellas, boogie boards, towels. We also felt very safe staying here. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything we wanted in a vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Super cool house with unique architecture, wonderful views and every comfort of home that we could ask for. The home was equipped with fantastic bedding and furniture, quality kitchen amenities, very inviting decor, and a wonderful location. Making the reservations was easy and the owners and the property manager attended to all our needs and answered all our questions. We had a fantastic time in Sayulita and would recommend visiting this location and staying at Casa Maravilla to anyone (unless you have trouble with steps, the house is four story). We particularly enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and short walk to the beach, restaurants and small markets where we could buy sundries. We really appreciated the high quality bedding, towels, decor, kitchen equipment, purified water, and the stunning views and nature watching from the top floor.

Unique Casa

  • 4 of 5

The casa itself is built right into a tree which is really fantastic. The sounds of the jungle combined with the crashing waves produces a fantastic night symphony! We were there for a girls getaway. The home was very clean and everyone involved including owner, property manager and housekeeper were friendly, helpful and welcoming. All of Michaels restaurant recommendations were fantastic. It really helped us narrow down the "must eat at" places. Location was great. My only other comment is that we felt the top level, BBQ and wading pool were smaller than we expected and we didnt feel comfortable staying in the lower level room alone so we all stayed in main house. We really enjoyed our time at Casa Maravilla. Sayulita is truly magical.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great comments! You were great to work with too! And while we’re not literally built into a tree, we do have an amazing giant fig tree with a large palm growing through the trunk. It shades much of the house and property. Regarding the size of the rooftop deck, it is circular in form and is over 800 sq. ft. The pool is 4 feet deep and about 12 feet by 12 feet. Great for conversations, drinks, cooling off on hot days – and perfect for children. Regarding the lower level bedroom with its own entrance, it’s as safe as the upper level with lockable steel windows and doors. Our property is completely walled, security fenced, and gated. While we’ve never had a single incident on our property, we’ll be sure that our manager gives our renters a key to lock the entrance gate if one feels the need.

Maravilla means "amazing", and it is

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a safe, laid back seaside village with a nice beach, some good food & no high rises. Sayulita exceeded our expectations. Part of what made our trip so absolutely perfect was our stay at Casa Maravilla. It's really not quite like anything else in town. The rooftop was perfect for late afternoon cocktails, or just a lazy nap. Bedrooms were spacious, private, and quiet. The house is nicely furnished, comfortable & relaxing. Enough different living areas for everyone to "do their own thing."

It's a very short walk into the center of town, either along the beach or on the road. There is always something to see. Whether you want to explore, hike, surf, swim, dine, or just hang out & read a book, this is a great spot to hang your hat. I highly recommend Casa Maravilla to all travelers bound for Sayulita. It's very well priced for such a charming house.

Great Vacation at Casa Maravilla

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Casa Maravilla. Sayulita is a great town with a great beach, proximity to world class surf spots, excellent local fare, friendly residents, and a quaint town square. This is a small town that is easy to navigate and very walkable. The food and shopping are great, as well.

Casa Maravilla is a great example of Mexican organic architecture - a large cylindrical building. The house has a large open kitchen/dining/living area that is great for relaxing or entertaining. Decks are available for a coffee in the morning or a drink at night. The house is immaculately cared-for with modern appliances and fixtures. The bedrooms are large. The bathrooms are clean and modern.

The house has a roof top pool that was a perfect place for a dip after a day at the beach or walking in town. We had a great time hanging out there at night and in the day bed reading during the day.

The house is conveniently located in town and a block or so from the beach.

We have visited Mexico numerous times. We have stayed in every type of accommodation over the years - from hammocks to resorts. Casa Maravilla will appeal to the adventure seeker and the family that needs comfort and convenience.
