About Shawn

I love to travel and love the islands. I was lucky enough to read about the East End of St Thomas one day and how easy it is to take a ferry or charter to other islands, then to come visit and find this amazing Villa in what is truly Paradise.

Shawn purchased this villa in 2012

Why Shawn chose East End

I've been to 20 islands and loved them all until I found the East End of St Thomas - and had a chance to experience the Virgin Islands - which made all other islands pale by comparison.

What makes this villa unique

Walk 3 mins to sit on the beach or go snorkeling. Walk 1 min to sit at the pool or hang at the waterside restaurant. Take kayaks; rent jet skis; or... visit Magens Bay the #1 beach on St Thomas (and top 3 in the VI). Go 1 mile down the road to Lindquist beach which is amazing, and since so few know of it you'll see almost no one there - seriously and amazing beach in paradise almost to yourself.

Easy access to Trunk Bay the #1 Beach in all the VI and a top 5 in the world; plus many more islands. I'll gladly tell ya how to get to take day trips to other islands such as Jost van Dyke to Soggy Dollar (#1 beach bar in the world 6 years straight); Tortola (to Cane Garden Bay or Nanny Cay); or Virgin Gorda to 'the Baths' which is also referred to as the 8th Wonder of the World. We are so close to all this, I've seen most of it already on my current trip - all you need to do it get up and go.

I can recommend different day charters that will include a stop on an island or two, include a snorkel stop and then good music and an open bar. I've gone on many of them, and can attest that the day trips are fun for all on board.

I'll be glad to give you the details on exactly what you need to know and where to go for anything you think you'd like to do

Beautiful setting, wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from staying at Shawn's condo in Pt. Pleasant. Definitely rates as one of the best vacations we have ever had. Even before we arrived, Shawn sent us 4 or 5 pages of recommendations of things to do, places to eat, and must see's to visit. All of these were spot on. Our favorite recommendations of his were eating pizza at Island Time and dinner at XO Bistro. These were both great. We also took Shawn's recommendation and booked a tour with Morningstar charters for an afternoon of sailing and snorkling. Mike and Bridgette were our hosts and they were awesome. The property itself is very well kept and Shawn's condo has breathtaking views. We even texted him a few times during our stay and he was quick to answer. As promised, he had snacks and beverages awaiting our arrival. It was also nice to have extra sunscreen, beach towels, and a cooler available for our use. The screen door has rusted out over the years and needs to be replaced, but other than that this place was perfect. When we visit St. Thomas again we will definitely be renting Shawn's villa!

Unbeleivable 30 Year Anniversary !

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had the time of our life ! Could be in the top 5 of all our trips ! The condo Shawn had for us was the best for location, view to the East, cleanliness, modern finishes and amenities, and overall BANG FOR THE BUCK ! Point Pleasant staff was very helpful too ! We stayed busy everyday going from one end of the island to the other ! Rental Car a MUST ! No problem driving as I caught onto the left lane fast ! We took the Bad Kitty trip to The Baths, and Jost Van Dyke and another day we went fishing with a charter captain out of Hull Bay. We took the rental car over to St. John and spend one day there from Trunk Bay to the downtown district. Everyone we encountered there were superb and very friendly. No problems anywhere we went. We ate breakfast at the condo every morning and packed the Condo Cooler and Condo snorkeling gear and chairs each day we headed out. That was great having those items to use as we ventured to the many beaches. Every beach has its own Cantina grill so we ate lunch at these beach Cantinas' and a lite dinner close by the Condo. We will be back !

Exceptional view and relaxing vacay

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in Shawn's condo for a week with my mother. It was our first time in St. Thomas and we had a difficult travel day to the island. I admit that driving on the left side of the road, at night, while exhausted in a new place was extremely taxing and by the time we made it to the condo, I wasn't leaving anytime soon! Unfortunately, we hadn't eaten anything and were very hungry, so we were grateful that Shawn had some snacks provided at his place (some of the foods were old and needed tossing, while others were fine). We also stopped by the lobby and bought some chips and dip to make it through the night. The condo was clean and quiet with the most remarkable view! Honestly, I've traveled quite a bit and I don't think that I have ever stayed somewhere with such an exceptional view. The sound of the waves was so beautiful and relaxing; they could even be heard inside the unit with all of the doors and windows closed. Every day we spotted iguanas in the brush around the balcony and loved that. At night, we could plainly hear live music coming from Margaritaville. While it didn't bother us, it might bother those who like it very quiet at night. The kitchen inside the condo does not have an oven, but there is a stove, microwave, and full size fridge. We literally ate every meal in the condo, except one dinner out, and that helped us save a lot of money. We shopped at Moe's Market in Red Hook (about a 5 minute drive) for our groceries. As is typical of any island, the prices are about double what you'd spend in the continental US, so be prepared for that. I slept on the main bed and while it was fairly comfortable, I did notice that it kind of sinks in in the middle. The AC worked fine for us up until the last day/night of the trip; when we tried to turn it on, it would come on for a couple of minutes and then shut off and couldn't be turned on again for a long while (in which the pattern was repeated). You can't set the temperature of the AC and it's on some kind of timer... I never quite understood it. Anyhow, the last day and night of our trip was pretty warm and my mom didn't handle it with ease. Overall the condo was great for our needs and I loved the location. I felt it was a great choice for our vacation. I often texted Shawn throughout the trip with questions and he always answered them and had plenty of suggestions and advice. He is a great host. Thanks for sharing your space with us, Shawn! I hope to return to gorgeous St. Thomas.

Great location and Awesome balcony with views

  • 5 of 5

B-4 is an awesome unit. View are to die for! Good location and walkable to other places. We had a car but you could stay here without one and get over to Coki beach and Margaritaville. We stayed for 9 days and it was hard to leave! This building is closest to the water/beach and central between the bar pool and the terrace pool. Terrace was our favorite . The beach is small, private and has good snorkeling. You will spend hours on the patio listening to the ocean, watching schools of fish, lots of rays, pelicans and iguana daily in the trees. The unit is very comfortable. Nice linens and towels. Shawn the owner is very attentive and responsive. I text him where the laundry was so I could wash the beach towels. We came back to villa to find 2 more nice towels! The toaster died and he had a new one on our patio the next day! We only used the AC at night. No need in the day at all. Shawn is correct in describing the winds. It's always breezy and comfortable with the doors and windows open. Only complaint would be the screen doors are in bad condition. They didn't operate so be sure to have some bug spray. We would stay here again for sure. Thanks Shawn for sharing!

Owner's Response: So glad you loved every aspect of it! Yes I am extremely attentive and always available via text. The views, and sounds of the waves are beyond explanation, and yes the other day from the balcony I saw a spotted Eagle Ray swimming by. So glad you loved it, and I do treat all guests like family!

Most beautiful water view and well equipped

  • 5 of 5

This villa has the most incredible view from the balcony. It is truly a gem. I would not hesitate to rent this again in the future. The bed was comfortable and the villa was well stocked. We used the snorkel sets which was nice during our stay. The unit was perfect for a last minute romantic couple escape. Shawn was a pleasure to rent from and the rental was hassle free. Shawn always answered my texts during the stay which was appreciated too. I would not hesitate to rent this again in the future.

No hassle rental property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in St. Thomas for 10 days split into 3 different locations across the island. We loved this unit, the check-in process, the info. sent prior to arriving, the location of the resort, which was quiet and private, their little private beach is truly very private, and the restaurant had great service and decent food. The unit itself was very tastefully decorated and the view from the terrace was beautiful. We lost one of the beach towels on a boat charter, and after trying to find the same quality of towel and not having any success, we called Shawn to let him know. Shawn was truly very easy to deal with, his response to us was pick one you like and don't worry about it. We really tried to match it up to the other one he had, but couldn't, and for him to be so forgiven about it was truly icing on the cake. Sometimes when you rent private units, the hassle, strict rules, and long check-in and check-out processes can really put a damp on your vacation, this was not the case with this unit and that is what we mostly loved about it, besides the view and comfort of course. If I had to give one very small advise to make it perfect, it would be to allow renters to have control of the AC, even if there is an up charge for over usage, but give the costumer the choice. I like to sleep to very cold weather, and not having control to turn the AC down at night was a little tough for me, but that was a small price to pay for all the other positives in the unit.

Some pointers for future renters: Definitely rent a car, no ifs about it, you will not regret it. If your adventurous, rent a dingy for the day to visit water island (try the lion fish Mexican bowl - amazing!) and St. John, no need for a fancy charter boat (we did the fancy charter boat, lol, but we did go to the BVIs). Also, try to avoid the car ferry to St.John, it's about a 1.5 to 2 hour loading/getting there process (although they tell you 30 minutes), and we had to wait 3.5 hours on the dock to get back (heard other people did too) due to our car not fitting in the first loading round, not a good way to end your day. They do lots of cargo type vehicles which reduces the space for normal cars significantly. Finally learn the landmarks and their whereabouts as it relates to the road numbers (get a map), many locals go by landmarks, they do not know the roads names/numbers.

Owner's Response: Quick clarification: You can control the AC, there is a remote on the counter to adjust the temps. Then the AC is on a 6-hour timer (will run through the night, but just so it doesn't run all day. Yes the Lionfish meal at Honeymoon Beach on Water Island is awesome. You can also see turtles while snorkeling on that beach :) A car is a must in large part to make the most of so many awesome things to do. I agree the passenger ferry to St John is best, a little more expensive adding in Taxis on St John but appx $20 each and well worth the convenience and time saved (unless you are going to Waterlemon Cay or to Salt Pong Bay, then take the car ferry). This villa is truly paradise.
