Playa Flamingo Villa Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, sleeps 10

The villa was completely reconstructed in 2011. A new ocean view bedroom and a big covered terrace have been added (still not on the satellite picture of Google maps).

The house is on a rock, 20m above the ocean and has stairs which create a direct access to the famous white sand beach of Flamingo (the real Flamingo beach, also called playa Blanca).

The entire property is very private and protected against prying eyes. Also it is very safe. All buildings are protected by alarm systems and there are cameras mounted all around the property. We never had any problems!

From the terrace one will enjoy wonderful sunsets and if you are a little lucky you can observe wales crossing the bay. One can also enjoy the view from the inside living area. The big European isolated windows keep 99,9% of UV rays outside.

The house also contains a swimming pool, which runs on very little chlorine. Because of the so called “infinity edge” the pool seems as if it is a part of the ocean, making an almost seamless blend between the swimming pool and the water of the ocean, especially when the winds are calm. The pool also has a raised Jacuzzi attached to it, with a waterfall cascading down into the pool, generating a source of calming sound against the thunder of the ocean waves.

The property also contains two double story units, one used as a guestroom. On the wall right next to it, one can sometimes spot the occasional iguana lying in the sun (usually only in the early morning). On the other one a roof access has been built. From there one can enjoy all the beauty that Flamingo has to offer.

The outside terrace also has a big 50+ inch TV, so in the evening (which comes quite early in Costa Rica), one can enjoy such entertainment without being confined to the inside of the house. On the terrace there are also deck chairs for easy sunbathing whenever one feels the need to.

In general, the house is very open. The celling in the living room is around 8 meters high. Almost every room has big windows which can also be used as doors. In this way, one can generate enough airflow to not have to use the AC. This helps with the acclimatization process and will make ones experience of Costa Rica much more enjoyable.

New we did add another bedroom with 2 sleeps in the mainhouse.

This gives advantages to younger children because they can sleep close to their parents.

Why Owner chose Guanacaste

We live in a some extra ordinary properties in Europe and we always where looking for our exaptional place at the pacific.

As it is a long flight time from Europe to Costa Rica only a top of the line property does make sense to us. And we did find it with this villa at Flamingo Beach.

What makes this villa unique

Located directly at the white Flamingo Beach. Private stair down to the beach. Increadable sunsets to be watched from the terrace.

When you are lucky you can watch the wales from the terrace in the bay.

Outstanding Property!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed during Thanksgiving week 2015. The property is outstanding! Our group of 10 was composed of two families of 4, along with the grandparents. We had people ranging in age from 11 to 71. All ages equally loved this property. The bedrooms are quiet and comfortable, and allow for you to "get away" if you need some rest.

Each evening we gathered around the outdoor patio to relax and have a drink, while looking out across the infinity pool into the Pacific Ocean. The daily maid service and gardner made you feel well taken care of. The owner is easy to deal with, and helpful. The house is an ideal set-up for having a private chef, and our favorite was Belly FedBetter.

We would strongly recommend this property, and is perfect for larger groups that want to gather in the common spaces, yet also be able to sneak away to their own casita for relaxation. The stairs allow access to one of the most gorgeous beaches in Costa Rica, while there are many steps...everyone navigated them easily and we considered it our "exercise" of the day. We met the owner, and he has put a lot of thought into the design and layout of this gem of Costa Rica!

Fernandina Beach

Beautiful Home; Amazing Sunsets

  • 5 of 5

House was perfect set up for us as our group was couples, no children. House is great, kitchen amazing.

Staff was very helpful and kept house and grounds in pristine condition. Staff speaks very little English so it is helpful if you know a little spanish or have a google app translator.

There is no house phone so it is difficult to make local calls except with your cell phone, which must be international enabled.

AC in all areas including each bedroom, which have separate A/C's.

Outdoor grill could be updated; we grilled out most nights and it was the only disappointment we had with the entire house!

The location is great as it is tucked away and in a secure area. Be sure to get good directions as even the hired car service we had couldn't find it.

You won't regret booking Sunset Villa. Owner was great to deal with and responded quickly each time we reached out to him.

Relaxing, amazing.

  • 5 of 5

We got exactly what we wanted and expected for a stay. To say it was enjoyable is an understatement.

Our group: Mostly first timers to Costa Rica – eleven people ranging from 5 months to 65 years old

Transportation: Prior to departure, the owner emailed us turn by turn directions which were invaluable. Our group arrived in two rented cars, one using the directions and the other a GPS. The car using the directions had no problem, the other got lost and even locals couldn’t help out since the villa is really tucked away.

Villa: Very spacious and well maintained. Great for multiple families and kids of all ages although there isn’t a lot of outdoor ‘running around’ space. Perched on the cliff, it offered amazing views of the ocean and sunset. If steps are a problem for you, not the best option. The staff speak very little English so it helps to know a little Spanish. They are very friendly though! There’s multiple Wi-Fi routers set-up throughout so no issues accessing internet. The infinity pool is small but great to lounge in/around.

Beach: The stairway to the beach is long (75+ steps) but in immaculate condition. The beach itself is fantastic – nice fine sand, some shaded areas and clear water. Waves ranged from large to quite small depending on the tide and winds. Some large rocks but easily avoided.

Dining: If you have a larger group, I highly recommend getting a private chef for at least some of your days there. We booked Chef Frank from “Belly Fedbetter.” The food far exceeded expectations, amazing authentic Costa Rican and Frank was an absolute pleasure to have around. The meals were even better than the times we went out to restaurants. Speaking of which, in the immediate area there are not a lot. Mostly only Hotel restaurants of varying quality.

Area: There’s a small ‘convenience store’ and pizza place/bar about a 5 minute walk away. You can rent essentials for water sports (kayaks, boogie boards, etc.) just off the beach. Not much for night life either but the area is more 55+ after all. Tour operators are set up close by as well. For groceries and decent shopping it’s best to rent a car or cab.

5 Adult couples rented Sunset Villa for 10 days. Great house for us. Our first visit to Costa Rica, and loved it. Weather great.

House keeper and house man very kind, helpful and gracious.

We had a minor maintainance issue that was addressed in a timely fashion. Only issue is owner did not give us adequate directions to the location...driver lost and we circled Flamingo for 2 hours trying to find the house.--locals do not know this house, no street address and no signage on the road.

Long walk back up from the beach.

Would recommend to owner that he add a guest book for suggestions on local info.

Beautiful, exceptionally private and quiet (although not necessarily for small children)

  • 5 of 5

My husband, four children ages 12, 10, 8 and 6 and I recently stayed at Sunset Villa for a week. The property is very well kept, exceptionally private and quiet. The views and the outside areas are just like in the photos - stunning. The master bedroom casita and the main house are gorgeous, have spectacular views from wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows that open up all the way to let the ocean breezes in. There is housekeeper who came every day for several hours (except Sundays). She is very sweet and friendly, and could not do enough to be nice and accommodating. We never had any shortage of clean towels and linens. The kitchen is well equipped with everything one could need. The location is excellent - top of the hill at the north end of Playa Flamingo. I noticed that this seemed to be one of the most private and secluded villas on this stretch. The villa was also very secure, with alarm systems and motion detectors everywhere. There are steep steps down to the beach, which could be difficult for some people. We did not mind them. The villa is also not one villa - but 5 different buildings. As we had read in other reviews and the owner had warned us, these casitas are separate self contained structures. This means that each bedroom is in a separate building, which posed a slight problem for us - a family with 4 young children none of whom could sleep in a separate building. We ended up using only two bedrooms, one in the main building and one in the master bedroom building, having one adult sleep in each building and parking a child to sleep on the very comfortable couch in the tv room in the main house. Complicated for sure! However, we still enjoyed our stay very much. The different buildings would be perfect for a family with teenagers or couples. There is lots and lots of space. The master bedroom casita and the main house are, however, the jewels.

A Big Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Sunset Villa for 10 days and found it to be absolutely fantastic and luxurious! It had breathtaking views of the ocean and every imaginable comfort.

Eight of us stayed in the villa and there was plenty of space. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and there was even a separate smaller villa on the property with its own kitchen which is where our kids stayed. We enjoyed swimming in the refreshing infinity pool overlooking the ocean, star gazing at night, and making great meals in the gourmet kitchen. The beach is easily accessible down a stairway from the villa, and from the beach you can walk to nearby restaurants and shops. A wonderful lady comes to the house almost every day to clean and make the beds, and we enjoyed her company and services.

The owner of the home is very accommodating and even provided holiday lights for us to decorate the palm in the patio since we were there over Christmas. You can even request that the villa be pre-stocked with food of your choice prior to your arrival and hire chefs to come cook for you. Just ask the owner for information about that if interested.

You won't be disappointed - everything about it exceeded our expectations! We didn't want to go home.
