The property manager was more than helpful.
The vacation rental was somewhat dirty.
I was very unhappy with the location.
I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.
This "villa" was offered to us as an "upgrade" from the Caravelle Resort that was closed for the winter season due to Hurricane Matthew. It was the furthermost unit from the ocean, next to a construction site that was busy the entire 2 months that we stayed. We were booked for three, however, could not stand the noise and dirt from the building of the new Sports Center. The equipment was about 25 ft from our screened in patio. The patio was unusable due to the dirt and noise. Windows could not be left open due to the dirt from the site. The screen door to the patio is unusable - off the track. The unit itself has not been upgraded in the last 20 years. Rugs stained, drapes dusty, bedding was ripped and torn. Towels torn and dingy. Shower fixtures moldy.Maintenance tried their best to fix things...replaced the broken tv, repaired the dryer, fixed the torn screens and a clean comforter set for the master bedroom. It was just a bad experience. Ice maker produced about 5 ice cubes a day. Dishes and flatware all needed to be washed upon arrival. Dishwasher was also broken....but maintenance must have been backed up. Internet is spotty at best. Called several times about being unable to connect just to receive the same answer. It is a shame that all this happened. Kingston Plantation itself is beautiful and very well maintained.
We just returned from a week staying here. I was impressed by how much room each of the bedrooms had - lots of extra elbow room in each. I sometimes get weirded out using towels and linens from rentals but I found these to be fresh and of quality. The beds were comfortable. My son loved the jetted tub in the master bath. The kitchen was stocked well with plates, mugs, glasses, knives and silverware. We didn't cook much, so I can't comment on the pots/pans, etc. Everything worked - fridge, washer, dryer, air conditioner, dishwasher. And we really enjoyed sitting out in the screened porch.
Here are a few of the negatives. When we arrived there was a fish odor in the foyer and kitchen. I called property management who said they were aware of the prior renter doing lots of seafood cooking and they had the furniture and carpets cleaned because it. We did some additional cleaning, air freshening and such and by the end of the week the smell was gone. Although the place was clean, it wasn't really clean. There was dirt/stuff along the wall where the vacuum couldn't get close enough. There was a cookie near a chair, a pair of socks under the skirted table. So just not a real thorough cleaning if you ask me.
Also I need to say that Kingston is changing from my years of staying there. We were not allowed to use the Embassy Suites pool at the ocean like in the past. They actually even have it fenced off now. So there is a small ocean front pool further north that the condo renters can use. Also, I'm not sure there is a community pool nearby that you can use. Make sure to ask.
We did enjoy the ability now to rent a golf cart. And this condo is pretty far from the beach, so we needed it. The cart however had to go to the entrance of the resort for the charging stations which isn't super convenient, but not bad from this condo if you walk through the sports center to retrieve it as it's a quick shortcut. The tennis courts are right beside you, However they cost $20 an hour to play.
All in all, I would recommend the unit.
