About John

Our family home has many great memories of good times on Lake Erie. We love the water sports that come along with lake front property. We treasure the lake as a valuable resource to enjoy.

John purchased this house in 1992

Why John chose Ohio

Our vacation home is tastefully decorated and very spacious. The home is perfect for executive lodging and is available for long term rental during the off-season. Please inquire.

What makes this house unique

Enjoy your privacy while you watch sailboats, some lake activity, migratory birds and use your eagle eye to spot some of our bald eagle residents. Public boat docks are within one mile and you can anchor your boat off shore while you stay!

Terrific location for exploring the Port Clinton to Marblehead area!

  • 3 of 5

This home is in a great location for a week of exploring the northern Ohio islands area. Situated off the main highway and tucked in a small quiet neighborhood, you're never far from shopping, dinning, sightseeing and local watering holes. The home and back patio seem to be falling into a state of disrepair, though not bad now, will need some much needed TLC soon. A nice patio set on the deck facing the water, and safe access to the lake would be a big plus. With some of the rooms, closets and garage not available to renters, its rates are set above it's price point.

Owner's Response: Hi Chad, there are a few incidentals that need addressed, but to say the house is in disrepair is really not fair. It's a beautiful and immaculate home on 80 ft of lakefront. Every year in the off season we address these minor incidentals. Most home owners have a personal closet or two and to provide renters access to a garage should not be expected as again there are personal items and equipment in the garage that could be a liability for us. I am not sure what rooms you thought you didn't have access to, there is a locked utility room and a closet. Regarding the rates, if you were to rent 3 rooms (for comparison we have 3 bedrooms) for one week at the Holiday Inn on a highway, it would cost you $3,600. We are very competitive in our rates for rental homes in the area. You are paying for the beautiful view at a large accommodating home on Lake Erie. I am glad you had a nice time and we hope to see you back, I just needed to clarify expectations.

The home was perfect for a reunion of a large family.

Although there were a few incidentals that didn't work or had problems with, all in all we had a terrific gathering. The lack of safe access to the water was a concern until a very kind neighbor allowed us to use his ramp for getting into the water. The water was warm and had many wonderful sand bars for the smaller kids. Being used to Lake Erie, the weeds in the water didn't bother us a bit and weren't even much of that.

We did our best to leave the cottage as we found it, and would like to Thank Deb for a terrific week of fun, food, and family / friends.

We rented this house the month of April. The house was very nice and right on Lake Erie.

We definitely enjoyed staying at this house. The weather didn't always cooperate, but we loved looking out on the lake even if it was snowing. Would stay there again.

Magnificent House and Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience with both the house and the owners. The home is situated in a idyllic location. It is away from the hubbub and yet close to all conveniences and attractions. The perfect recipe for relaxation. It is both aesthetically spacious and practically designed. The master bedroom is set up so that the view is picturesque and the sound of the water serenades. The queen bedroom upstairs with its outlook over the beach area and lake also is simply wonderful. The kitchen is amply stocked with every practical and imaginable utility and utensil. Artwork of local species of wildlife adorns the home and the actual can be viewed frequently just outside many large windows. The deck and beach area complete the ambience of relaxation. We also found the owners both most accommodating and caring. We feel we definitely got the better end of the deal. Definitely a five star in price, location and owner. We would add more stars if we could.

Great house!

I recently rented this house to celebrate my birthday with family and friends. The house was perfect for my gang. The owner is easy to work with. If the occasion arises again, I'd choose this house in a heartbeat.

Great house!

We've used this house for our annual fishing trip for the past two years. We love the lakefront setting and there is plenty of space (beds, bathrooms, etc) to accommodate a large group. Look forward to our trip next year!
