Kitchen cabinets form a full 'U' making it more pleasant for cooking and entertaining. This condo has beautiful views of the ski resort and adjacent mountains, and overlooks the quaint village and ice skating rink. In addition Powderhorn Lodge has its own hot tub, ski storage lockers and underground parking - all just steps from the lifts so you can access Utah powder quickly!!
Liz, John and son Andy live just 25 minutes away and have flexible schedules to help you out if needed and answer any and all questions about the area. We can even give ski pointers! If you need help with groceries/errands we may be able to assist with that as well (contact us for further info) We want to make your stay great and if our local knowledge can be of use we are glad to share it.
John Knoblock and Liz Haigh purchased this condo in 2012
We bought this condo so that we can enjoy Solitude in the summer and fall primarily. (Okay, we love powder snow too.) We purchased this unit because it has a larger floor-plan than the other 1 BR w/ den condos, and has views of the village and mountains. And, when its not rented in the winter, we can get up the canyon to ski some un-tracked Solitude powder and do some nordic ski skating! We are really enjoying the ski in/ski out dynamic too (when the condo isn't rented) - rolling out of bed late and still getting first tracks!! Even though we only live 25 minutes away being able to spend more time in our beloved, beautiful Wasatch has made us happier! We are so grateful to have this condo- every time we go up to Solitude we are renewed.
I have rented many VRBO places over the past years, and these owners are the most welcoming I have ever encountered. The place is not the fanciest but it as close to being at home as you can be with the best skiing around just steps from your door. The owners, Liz and John stocked this place with everything you could ever need. From wine, a stocked pantry, to every toiletry and cleaning supply you would need, they thought of everything. My kids and I spent 3 days skiing Jan 4 to 8 and had great time. Plenty of room, very clean and comfortable and well maintained, with great TV, wifi, and games. We will be back!
We stay at Solitude every year and have NEVER walked into a condo that was so warm and welcoming. Flowers, wine and chocolate greeted us on the counter. A stocked kitchen begged us to cook and eat well. Christmas lights in the den reminded us that this was a home, not just a normal, cold rental. The Owners leave plenty of everything here so it actually feels like they want you to relax and enjoy your stay. Our family had awesome skiing every day (powder and blue bird days). The service is outstanding and the Owners respond promptly to emails and calls. We fit two adults, one grandmother, and two kids (age 9 and 12) in the condo for a week and had no problems with space at all. We loved sinking into the couches each night wrapped in giant, fuzzy throws re-watching our Go-Pro footage from the day. I recommend PH 215 to everyone but leave a week for us!. (Also,If you have to bring your laptops for work, the wifi is great and the dining room table makes for a fine desk with a view). Thank you Owners for having such a gift for hospitality.
My boys and I had a great long weekend of spring skiing at Solitude and loved staying at this condo.John and Liz were extremely helpful and made everything easy. They provided clear instructions for check-in and within a half hour of arriving, we were on the slopes. After skiing, we got back to the condo and were thrilled with how stocked up (food, condiments, cooking gear) the kitchen was, almost like coming back to your own place. The boys (9 & 11) loved the pool, hot tub, games, etc at Club Solitude. Great place, great time! Thanks, Paul
My husband and two children (11 and 13) came to Solitude to ski and enjoy lots of family time. We were not disappointed. Our accommodations however were much more than we expected. Every detail, no matter how small, had been considered by our hosts.
After landing in Salt City, we made a major Trader Joe shopping trip to stock out condo in Solitude. Little did I know that half of the food stuff we purchased would already be in our condo in Solitude! Liz and John really go all out to make their guests feel welcome. We were greeted with beautiful bottles of wine and fresh flowers. The pantry and fridge was stocked WAY beyond expectation. Their spice cabinet is more varied than mine at home. The bathroom is stocked with soaps, lotions, and even sun screen! They really do think of everything. The sofa is super comfortable and everyone loved the soft blankets!
The Powderhorn Lodge is conveniently located to all that you may need -- lift tickets, Club Solitude, pizzeria, etc. We spent many afternoons in one of the (outdoor) hot tubs in our building and on occasion at Club Solitude.
We have stayed at many VRBO properties and have never run into hosts as caring, detail oriented and honest as Liz and John. Now all we need is to find a way to make ski lift passes, ski rentals and ski school more affordable so that we can return soon!
Great place, great owners, great stay! Place had everything you need for a ski trip in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Please was as advertised, stocked to the gills with supplies, easy ski on ski off access to Solitude, and a few minute drive from Brighton. Key perks are underground parking lot, hot tub, easy ski access, and some really helpful owners who kept in touch regularly since making the reservation.
We decided to stay on the quieter side and chose Solitude this year instead of Snowbird/Alta. Very pleased with our decision. You can walk to the lifts, the ski rental shop, ticket booth, ice skating rink, hot tub, pool, and restaurants. This is a very family friendly village and everything we needed was at our fingertips. The arrival and checkout process - so easy! We were greeted with Wine, chocolate, and flowers upon our arrival -very nice touch along with all the necessities in the kitchen. Condo size was perfect for us and the den is great for children. We highly recommend it and would stay there again. Thanks!
Enjoy 500 inches of The Greatest Snow on Earth here at Solitude Ski Resort, without the crowds of other ski areas. At Solitude there's More Powder Per Person, as well as groomed slopes for all ability levels.
