About Julie Shaffery

I live in Monmouth County, New jersey and have been bringing my children and family to Pigeon Forge for over 17 years. I have traveled a lot and I am happy to call Pigeon Forge my second home.

Julie Shaffery purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Julie Shaffery chose Tennessee

Since I was a little girl, it has always been my dream to own a log home. After visiting the Smokys and surrounding areas I knew where that log home had to be. The beauty of the Smoky Mountains is like no other as well as the food, the people, the entertainment and attractions.

What makes this cabin unique

After visiting the area a number of times I knew the type of log home I wanted as well as the resort that I wanted it to be in. I kept watching Realtor and hoping that one day I would find the log home of my dreams and I found it. I didn't wait and I never saw it in person. I called my Realtor and made a full price offer. I had to have this one. She did the inspections and all of the things needed to buy it. We made it to the closing late and closed on it without ever seeing it. Imagine our surprise to walk into our log home for the first time. Now we can share our dream with you all.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Oh my!!! What can I say? Thank you for a gorgeous cabin stay. Everything looks great including the view. The food in Tennessee was awesome. I think we're going home heavier than when we came. We have to visit again soon.

Good

We liked the cabin but had some concerns. The pool table was falling apart. The hot tub was not heating the water. We googled it and got it heating but it was dirty and needed emptying and cleaned. The throw rugs under the furniture in the den are fall hazards. The edges are curled up and I almost fell several times hanging my foot. The cleaning has a lot to be desired. There were two metal ties in the carpet in the bedroom on the main floor. I am thankful I stepped on them instead of my daughter who has diabetes. That would have been very dangerous. There were hair ties under the edge of the bed, twist ties around the night stand and just general crumbs and other stuff on the floor. There was a nail on the deck that my son in law stepped on and hurt his foot. There was no light where the grill was and we had to use a flashlight to grill. The cabin was okay just had a few issues

Owner's Response: Hi Martha. Thank you for your review. I really wish you would have reached out to me to let me know about these issues. I did not receive one phone call, text or email from you. If I had, I would've sent someone right up to take care of and fix whatever needed it. I put this in my welcome email. We pride ourselves on providing and sharing our home with our guests but understand that sometimes human error occurs. I have already informed our cleaning company and maintenance person that things like this are unacceptable. I was informed that our maintenance man has been in the hospital. We are having another take over. I personally visit the cabin 5 times per year and other family members visit 4 times per year. I do understand that sometimes in between, things can be broken due to the fact that some guests do not take care of our vacation home as if it were their own. I really hope that you stay with us again. Thanks Julie

Our Christmas Getaway

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was decorated very nicely with a full sized Christmas tree and Santa. We all enjoyed the game room with the pool table, air hockey, and darts. Cabin had nice furniture, was pretty clean and was very spacious. Our only problem were some worn sheets in the main floor bedroom and less than clean decorator pillows. I did not alert the owner or housekeeping at the time. We were on the go constantly, and I just did not want to have to deal with it at the time. The owner did not want to give any compensation 2 weeks after the fact, so please call if any problems arise during your stay. I didn't do that.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at our cabin. I have made the cleaning company aware of the worn sheets as they have many and maybe it was an oversight. I really do wish you would've called me and I would have told you where the extra sheets were located. I really hope you understand that the problem could've been corrected had you had called and 2 weeks after the fact, I cannot give you any compensation. Please come back and stay again at a discount. Thank you again and hope you and your family have a Happy New year.

Great view with plenty of privacy

  • 5 of 5

We Had a family thanksgiving mountain trip that was wonderful family time. I was worried the view might not be spectacular because it was a resort. I was so pleased to be able to see the mountains with their beautiful colors each day. The drought slowed down the colors and they were perfect during thanksgiving.. We enjoyed going to Paula Deens Island, The track, comedy barn, and Cade's Cove. Cade's Cove takes about 4 hrs including driving times. The cabin had plenty of space with 2 tables to eat. They provided all the pots and pans you need.... plus a Keruig. We had 12 adults and 3 kids. We brought 2 air mattresses to use instead of the pull out sofa beds. That worked well for our family. This is a cabin that lives up to its pictures. We loved our cabin time the most.

Great Location, Clean, Good Mangement

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is in a great location. Centrally located. We stayed here for 3 days for our son's baseball tournament. Easy drive to the Ripken's Baseball Park. If you are coming in town for a tournament or just a family vacation. The cabin itself is was very clean. Lots of room. The game room was great the kids were entertained while the parents were able to relax on the back porch. We had 6 adults with 6 kids had plenty of room. Beds are comfortable. I cannot begin to tell you how great Julie is to work with. She is responsive and available if you were to need anything. We will defiantly stay here the next time we come for a baseball tournament or vacation.

The property was very nice with plenty of room for our family weekend.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very nice and easily accommodated our family of seven for the weekend. The decks provided great views and also privacy when using the outdoor hottub and sauna. Each bedroom had its own bathroom which was wonderful and we all enjoyed the family game room.

Beautiful property and close to Pigeon Forge

  • 4 of 5

The property was beautiful with a beautiful view off the deck. Plenty of room for us 4 couples. The only problem we had was with the lighting. In one bedroom the fan light wouldn't work, in another the lamp was burned out. I like to read before turning in for the night and that just wasn't possible.

Owner's Response: Hi Wanda. Thank you for staying at our cabin. In your welcome email I explained that if you needed anything to please call me. I would've sent someone right up and if it were late, I keep extra light bulbs in the cabinet above the stove. Next time! I do hope you will stay again. Thanks Julie
