About the property

Comfortable, cozy and clean property for your getaway!

This beautiful house is only minutes from Twain Harte, and it's a perfect place to enjoy your family getaway to the Sierras.

Enjoy the cozy comfort of a wood burning fireplace during the fall and winter months while watching the new HDTV in the inviting first floor living room. Free WiFi is included for your convenience as well.

Our guests are within walking distance (1/2 mile) to Cedar Ridge Community Lake, which features a playground and bbq area. There is no additional fee to access the lake, the water is clear and there is parking and clean restrooms too!

When you arrive at the house, you will walk into a galley style kitchen which opens into the downstairs living room and dining area for 6.

Down the hall is the master bedroom, with a Cal king bed, dresser, blanket chest, and rocking chair.

The first floor also has a brightly lit full bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Just behind the bathroom is the laundry room with a washer and dryer and secondary entrance to the home.

Returning to the main living room, there is a sliding door leading to the deck which seats 8-10 guests, and has a gas bbq. During snow season, enjoy the snow flurries and watch the snow cover the trees outside the house! It is truly beautiful to watch!

On the second floor is a loft area and a HUGE bedroom. The loft area has a futon, two recliners, a t.v., and an alcove with an incredibly comfortable queen bed.

The upstairs bedroom sleeps 6 guests! Twin, twin bunk beds, a twin trundle and a queen sleigh bed with a pillow-top mattress as well as a table and four chairs are in here. There is a cedar chest with additional blankets for guest use. Even with all these furnishings, there is still ample open space.

The large, bright upstairs bathroom features hand-scraped hardwood floors, ample counter space, and a shower.

This home has a wonderful balance of warm and cozy mountain charm while providing the comforts that our guests deserve.

We are now accepting reservations for the winter holidays and into 2016. Please send us a note and let us know the size of your group (adults and children). Also include if you wish to bring your family dog (two max).

'THIS IS A NICE HOUSE!' said one recent guest, and that's exactly what you will say too.

fun, rustic-feeling bunkhouse for a family

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice visit to the house in late February. It gave us nice proximity to cross country skiing which was what we came for. The kitchen is well-stocked (though olive oil would be nice) and it was easy to find what we needed. We enjoyed the fireplace as well. It was a bit darker inside than we expected and we also thought there might be more room to hang out in the yard. The owners were very communicative and responsive.

Spacious accommodations for large groups/families

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed this spacious house. Its near enough to town for convenience but far away enough away for quiet in the woods. Jim was an exceptionally helpful host in explaining the ins and outs of the property. Definitely a place worth considering if you are staying in the area since the hotels are very dated and unreasonably expensive.

The vacation home was clean, well maintained and organized. The owners were very attentive and good communicators. We highly recommend this place for any families who are looking to spend some quiet time together and just wants to get away with the craziness and stress of their everyday lives. Thank you Jim and Jill for everything!!!

Nice mountain home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a weekend in this house in September and enjoyed our stay very much. There were 5 adults and 2 boys aged 7 and 3 and a 5 mo. old baby in our group. Jim and Jill were nice enough to let us also have my son's family, who live close by, come and spend the entire Saturday with us at the house and the private lake. The house is extremely clean and well stocked which was quite nice. The deck is very large and it accommodated all of us very nicely. The upstairs is huge and my grandkids loved it. They played up there most of the time when they weren't outside. I would highly recommend this house. We are thinking it would be a nice place to have a Christmas get together (if we get snow this year).

Awesome Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

August, 2015, we stayed in a very nice cabin in Sonora, 134 miles from San Jose. The owner’s, Jim and Jill were very nice and patient to answer all of our questions, and provide us with all the information needed for our stay. This place was the perfect size for our family of eight and two dogs, a Yorkshire Terrier and a Pit Bull.

The cabin is very cozy and clean, and well stock with everything you would need for a stay and all the comforts of home, WIFI, TV, videos, board games, and toys for kids. The two story cabin has a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and a bedroom with a king size bed downstairs. The upstairs to our surprise is a large loft area with a living room and bedroom with a queen size bed, a bathroom, plus a large bedroom with a twin bed, a bunk bed, a queen size bed and table with 4 chairs.

The neighborhood was very peaceful. During the day we watch the deer from the deck pass through, and the stars at night. We were able to take the dogs for walks, and walk to the private lake (no dogs allowed), swam off the dock and swung off the rope into the lake. Our grandchildren got creative and made their own fishing poles, with sticks, thin rope and used bread just like the good old days. A fish jump out of the lake and caught my grandson toe, which created laughter and tears of joy (wish we had the camera rolling). We would definitely return here in the future.

If you need to get away from the city life and have a need to go rustic, cabins, mountains and lakes, then look up Jim and Jill. Just make sure you bring enough groceries for your stay, nearest store is about 20 minutes away.

Great Getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

My experience was AWESOME!!! From the time I booked until the time I came home. First off I have to say Jim and Jill were the nicest people to work with. They were very informative giving us ideas as to what to do in the area as well as information about the house. They were quick to respond to EVERY email!!! I NEVER felt uncomfortable or stressed about our stay. The House is BEAUTIFUL and easily accommodated 10 of us (6 adults and 4 children). The place was clean and homey. The people in the neighborhood were also very friendly and welcoming. I will most definitely rent again and would recommend this rental to anyone!!!
