Comfortable apartments near the city walls, beautiful old Siena and the 'Piazza del Campo' just a walk away. The apartments ara in a prime location for walking into Siena with the 'San Marco' gate at the top of the road. Wine tours can be arranged and recommendations to excellent restaurants given. Rhoda is a fantastic hostess and such fun... her knowledge of Siena it's history and traditions is immense!
Very difficult to find an apartment on the city walls
Country views but right on city walls so easy for town no transport needed
Wonderful stay, looked after by Rhoda and taken to local market and at the end to the train station. Lovely setting, well appointed and tasteful apartment.

Our stay was nothing short of fantastic. The location was perfect to explore the Tuscan region. A quick walk into Siena provided us with amazing restaurants, shopping and one of the most beautiful medieval towns! The Palio was on so we got to experience this unique horse race with all the history and pageantry. Our hostess suggested some awesome restaurants as well as area sights. The Wednesday morning market is a must. We felt completely at home, including the gorgeous pet dogs that came around looking for cuddles! Everyone including the other renters were so friendly and we found ourselves sharing walks into town or the market. We even shared a glass of wine or two after an adventurous day. It was the best time ever! Can't wait to go back!
My husband and I stayed here for a week to explore Siena and neighboring hilltop towns. The location is great--close to major roads, and just outside the Siena city walls. Given that the walk is uphill to Siena, I assumed we'd be using the two very convenient buses all the time. But within a few days, we were regularly walking--it just takes 5 minutes. Nothing like hilltop towns to improve your aerobic conditioning! The apartment is comfortable and well set up. We were able to cook meals easily in the kitchen. I'd definitely stay there again, should I be so lucky to get back to Siena, which we loved.
Rhoda was lovely--very welcoming and helpful. Her restaurant recommendations were spot on. She filled us in on the upcoming Palio--an all-consuming part of Siena life. I was touched by her recent adoption of an abandoned dog, who lives in the woods behind the house and comes daily to get his meals. She's named him Gypsy and he was dignified and very sweet.
We stayed in Siena in mid-May 2016 as a base camp to tour the Tuscany countryside. This location was ideal for easy day trips to Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Sant'Antimo, San Galgano, Florence, San Gimignano, and Chianti. All within less than an hours' drive. The location half way up the hill to Siena was fantastic for taking advantage of Siena's wonderful food and history. The apartment itself has a beautiful, commanding view looking down the Siena hill into the countryside valleys. The apartment itself was clean and modern with quaint Tuscan touches (old wooden beams in the ceiling). Kitchen was well equipped. Parking was easy and free (hard to find in Tuscany). All neighbors are super polite, and Rhoda (the carekeeper) lives across the street. She's extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and always willing to help. We left with a tear in our eyes and loved every minute. Highly recommended.
To stay here is to live as a Siennese. You are welcomed by Rhoda and introduced to the Tuscany of your dreams. You quickly learn about contratas, the Palio, and Siena's great history. Our one week at the garden apartment was exceptional and we would recommend both the apartment and host Rhoda (along with partner Charles) without hesitation. We will be back and for a longer stay, probably in their Vista suite next time.
This is the perfect romantic get away right outside of the San Marco gate. It's a short climb to get there but well worth being away from the crowds when you are done sightseeing. Rhoda, the caretaker is like your favorite long lost family member - what else can I say! Mario, the upstairs neighbor, born and raised in Siena can take you for the best tour of Tuscany and the wine country you can ever want. My husband and I loved this romantic flat and hope to return soon!
Fabulous position just on city walls no need for transport also can arrange wine and cheese tours
