This beautiful, newly remodeled and decorated home is nestled under Spanish moss draped cypress trees with big, gorgeous views of the St. Johns and the Ocala National Forest. It is the perfect getaway to Old Florida with none of the crowds, overdevelopment and traffic. Whether you are a casual or serious fisherman, a hiker, a hunter, a reader or a boater this home and location will appeal to you. This very comfortable home, yard and dock gives a feeling of freedom and serenity that is hard to match and a peacefulness that helps you go back to a simpler, less complicated world. There are great views of the river whether you are in the nicely appointed kitchen, at the dining room table, sitting in one of our new leather reclining sofas or chair, sitting in the large screen room, out in the well-maintained St. Augustine yard or sipping your favorite beverage with a line or two in the water. Located 90 minutes from the Orlando area, 60 minutes from Jacksonville, St. Augustine or Daytona, this area, known as the “Bass Fishing Capital of the World, has a lot going on including not only bass but many salt water species as well, hiking in the nearby Welaka State Forest or Dunn's Creek State Park, bird and alligator watch on the nearby famous Oklawaha River, boating to Silver Glenn Springs or Salt Springs, ferry over to Ocala National Forest, numerous restaurants and bars nearby such as Renegades Tiki Bar and Restaurant, River Pub, Shrimps R Us, Palms Café Blue, marinas, bait, boat rentals and even the 18 hole Live Oak Golf Course.

This is our weekend retreat and a place we consider a hidden secret. We never want to leave but not retired yet so have to go back to our 'real lives'. We found this place while camping at Salt Springs and rented a boat for the day. It had just gone on the market and it was next door to a piece of property my husband had bought and sold over 20 years ago. He always wanted to be on the river but took him 20 years to make that dream come true.
Karen purchased this house in 2012
It was meant to be for so many reason and so many coincidences and fate that made this purchase possible we knew it was our destiny.

We want to thank the home owners. We had a great time . The house was beautiful home with a great view of the river. I would recommend this home to everyone I know and would definitely rent this home again. Thanks to the home owners.
Very comfortable stay in this beautiful house we were supposed to stay five nights and ended up staying six! Karen is always ready to answer any questions you may have. Highly recommend River House
This home does not disappoint. The house is amazingly big inside and tastefully furnished with everything that you could want and more. The pictures on the site did not reflect that the kitchen and bathrooms were recently remodeled and they are so much better than expected. The fantastic river views can be seen from the main living areas of the home, such as kitchen, dining and living room, front screened in porch. We spent many days and evening on the dock just taking in the sites of the passing boats, local birds (including and eagle) and even an alligator came to visit in the waters. The sunsets were breathtaking every night we were able to take them in. We didn’t have much luck catching anything while fishing from the dock, but it was fun trying. Although the kitchen was equipped with almost anything that you would want, we chose to take in some of the local restaurants like Shrimps R Us, Renegades and the River Pub Italian Grille. They didn’t disappoint. The owner, Karen, was friendly and extremely accommodating. She made our stay very comfortable and we thank her.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very nice. Had family over for a cookout, kids played football in the backyard. Gorgeous river view with dock that we are able to tie our boat up with easy access. We will definitely be back sometime in the future.
The pictures do not do this house justice! This was probably the most comfortable rental I have ever stayed in. If I had a lake house, it would be set up and furnished exactly like this house. The place was spotless clean. Comfortable beds. Perfect location to access the river. There is a boat ramp directly next to the property. However, we opted to use the Renegade RV park which was less than a mile away as the ramp was new and they had fuel. They did not charge us for launching there either. The dock on the property was in perfect condition. We saw lots of wildlife from there as well. The owner was friendly and attentive. She even checked in on us to make sure were able to get out jetskis in the water. This place and it's owner exceeded all expectations!
We spent a week at this house and had the most relaxing time of our lives. The wildlife including owl, eagles, blue heron, and more entertained us daily from the wonderful screened porch overlooking the river. The beds and furniture were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen and BBQ'd several nights. We brought our own boat which was too big for this boathouse and kept it right up the street at Renegades which was very convenient and well run. This location is excellent if you want to boat to Salt Springs or Silver Glen for swimming. The local restaurants at Renegades and River Pub were good too. The house is located in a nice quiet community and the owner was very responsive. All in all a great vacation.
