About Karen

This is our weekend retreat and a place we consider a hidden secret. We never want to leave but not retired yet so have to go back to our 'real lives'. We found this place while camping at Salt Springs and rented a boat for the day. It had just gone on the market and it was next door to a piece of property my husband had bought and sold over 20 years ago. He always wanted to be on the river but took him 20 years to make that dream come true.

Karen purchased this house in 2012

Why Karen chose North Central Florida

It was meant to be for so many reason and so many coincidences and fate that made this purchase possible we knew it was our destiny.

What makes this house unique

The Sunsets, The Owl That Comes Every Night Right At Dark, The Wildlife, The Fresh Breeze, The Quiet, The Smell Of The River, The View, The View, The View And The View!

Beautiful view. Nice house.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very nice. Had family over for a cookout, kids played football in the backyard. Gorgeous river view with dock that we are able to tie our boat up with easy access. We will definitely be back sometime in the future.

Absolutely perfect house on Saint John's River

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do this house justice! This was probably the most comfortable rental I have ever stayed in. If I had a lake house, it would be set up and furnished exactly like this house. The place was spotless clean. Comfortable beds. Perfect location to access the river. There is a boat ramp directly next to the property. However, we opted to use the Renegade RV park which was less than a mile away as the ramp was new and they had fuel. They did not charge us for launching there either. The dock on the property was in perfect condition. We saw lots of wildlife from there as well. The owner was friendly and attentive. She even checked in on us to make sure were able to get out jetskis in the water. This place and it's owner exceeded all expectations!

Stunning sunsets nightly!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this house and had the most relaxing time of our lives. The wildlife including owl, eagles, blue heron, and more entertained us daily from the wonderful screened porch overlooking the river. The beds and furniture were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen and BBQ'd several nights. We brought our own boat which was too big for this boathouse and kept it right up the street at Renegades which was very convenient and well run. This location is excellent if you want to boat to Salt Springs or Silver Glen for swimming. The local restaurants at Renegades and River Pub were good too. The house is located in a nice quiet community and the owner was very responsive. All in all a great vacation.

Beautiful home on the St. John's - Old Florida at its Best

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for a relaxing vacation on the St. John's River! Located on a quiet street with spectacular views of the river - this home is a place you are going to love AND a place you are going to feel at home. The home is very welcoming, beautifully decorated with wonderful views of the river from all the main living areas. The screened porch overlooking the St. John's is where you are going to want to spend your time! This was the perfect place to have morning coffee, read a book, and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The dock was also a great place to relax, watch the wildlife and the beautiful sunsets. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything you need to prepare wonderful meals. If you prefer not to cook, Renegades on the River is just 2 minutes away. It's also a short drive to Crescent City and Welaka where you'll find fun, casual restaurants. This is the place to unwind! We definitely want to come back again!!! Loved it here!!!
