This home has sweeping Ocean views (not just a peek-a-boo view through the trees) .
The 'Plantation style' house is brand new, is clean, bright and breezy. It has 3 bedrooms (1 king bed and 2 queens) and 3 1/2 baths. . The home also has cable TV and wireless internet. The full kitchen has everything to prepare a delicious meal, granite counters and an ocean view make cooking enjoyable! There is also a washer and dryer.
The Double full glass doors (with blinds) open up to the Lanai which has a table and deck chairs to enjoy the view. The Lanai is a favorite spot of guests and the most common comment is how peaceful and beautiful it is with the expansive ocean view. Enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the ocean and passing ships in the afternoon.
The home is located just 15 minutes north of Hilo on the Hamakua Coast. Famous Akaka Falls is approximately 1 mile up the road for easy visiting or morning walks. The village of Honomu is close by with a Pizza/sandwich shop, Galleries and a Bakery. There is a botanical garden just minutes away, the new Akaka Falls 'Zip-lines' are minutes away and really fun! Kilauea Crater and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park are a 45 minute drive. There is a renowned 'Farmers Market' downtown Hilo. The Honoli'i Beach Park is a 5 minute drive and has a lawn area, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and lifeguards. Waipio Valley is a 30 minute drive.
The home is centrally located for easy access to all Big Island attractions. There are also brochures to help plan your daily adventures during your stay. The Big Island offers endless outdoor activities to enjoy.

We fell in love with the Hamakua Coast, and the small sub-division of Hakalau Plantation Village was a perfect spot for our home away from home. We love the view, the constant breeze, walk to the beach and even the coqui frogs!
We had a excellent stay (Group of 4). The area around the house is beautiful, you have a great view out over the Pacific to the east, and the location of the house is just far enough outside of Hilo to get away from the city, but just close enough to not be inconvenient to drive in to eat/shop etc. The house is close to several beach parks located in beautiful gulches, as well as Akaka Falls. Ashley, the property manager, was excellent, and was very quick to respond when we contacted her with questions. As another reviewer stated if you have AT&T do not expect any service at the house, but they do have good wifi and that was plenty for what we needed. We would defiantly stay here again if back in the Hilo area. The only thing I would list as a downside to this property is its close proximity to the highway. If you are a light sleeper this may bother you. Air conditioning is not necessary at this location, but at night you really want the windows open to capture that nice cool breeze, and the traffic could wake you up if you are not a deep sleeper. I don't see this as a reason to dock any stars though. Again, we would definitely stay here again! Excellent property.
We cancelled our stay in the Kona area and booked this house at the last minute as it is close to Hilo. I think this was the best thing we did. Hilo area is more lush, fertile and beautiful than the crowded artificial resorts of Kona. The house was clean, spacious with a beautiful view. Only complain would be the musty smell as we entered the house. Property Manager Ashley is awesome. She responded back with our questions quickly and helped us plan our day too. AT&T coverage is bad in this area but there is a landline phone and wifi is very good. There is a 15 to 20 min drive to Hilo for any restaurant or grocery shop. Overall a very memorable stay and I highly recommend the Akaka falls and zipline.
We had good experience to rent this house as our vacation home for four nights. The rooms are clean and the view in the front porch is gorgeous.
The only short coming is the cell phone signal is weak in the house. We use t-mobile as our cell phone carrier, and I have go out of the house (100 yards away from the house) in order to make phone calls.
We would recommend our friends to rent this house...
The house itself is a nice place to be, but there are some disadvantages that have not been mentioned in advance:
1. Don't use the automatic calculator for the rates - it gives you a "low" price and when you try to book then you're getting some extra fees. Bad, this has to be fixed!! It works fine for other rentals.
2. It's noisy. Just some feet behind the house there's the belt street. And there's a lot of traffic. Additionally - when we were staying there in late spring 2014 - there was a guy building a new house only about 20 feet to the right. And there was another house being built on the other side of the street. Oh my!
3. It was really smelly when we arrived. We had to keep windows open during the whole time in one or two rooms, the other rooms were okay.
We had such a wonderful time here. After a long day at Volcano National Park, we were thrilled to come to this clean and beautiful house. Ashley was so nice to contact me when they were done cleaning to allow an earlier check-in. It was the perfect size for my parents, 3 kids (ages 3-8), husband, and myself. The parents took the 1 bedroom retreat upstairs, equipped with full bathroom, and we spread out in the 2 bedrooms downstairs. I was worried about the house not having AC because when we left Honolulu had the hottest day this summer, but we were comfortable with the ceiling fans in all the rooms. Everything in the home is brand new and very clean. The location was also ideal for us because we drove out to Kona twice during the trip. It was nice staying in this countryside retreat. Very cute neighborhood. Beautiful island, beautiful house!
Come relax is this spacious 3 bedroom and 3 full bath home with complete kitchen, washer/dryer and dishwasher. This house was built in August 2012, and has porcelain tile and bamboo flooring the first floor and carpeting on the second floor.
Enjoy spectacular ocean views from the lanai with your family. Cool breezes and ceiling fans in every room will keep you comfortable all year round. This home comfortably sleeps 6, with a King size bed in the master bedroom, and a queen size bed in each of the other two bedrooms.
The house and your belongings are secured by Alert Alarm for 24 hour protection.
Five minutes south is the quaint town of Honomu with Akaka Falls and Mr. Ed's Bakery. Downtown Hilo is an additional 10 minute drive south, where you will find restaurants, museums and unique local stores (Sig Zane and Hawaiian Force are both found only in Hilo!). Continue on another 30 minutes south to visit the Volcano National Park.
To the North, beautiful Waipio Valley is a 30 minute drive. Tour the Hawaiian Vanilla Company in Paauilo and continue on to Waimea and paniolo (cowboy) country.
If you are splitting your Hawai'i Island stay between the East and West sides, this home is an easy and breathtaking two hour drive from Kailua-Kona.
