My husband and I bought our beach home because we love being on the water. We are sailors, and have a sailboat that we bring to our property, and park on our bouy which is right in front of our home, when we are there, during the summer moths. We decided to share our home with VRBO renters after a very successful experience with our West Seattle VRBO RENTERS. We have 24 reviews, and all 5 star. Please refer to listing number 399739 to get reviews from our recent vacationers at West Seattle. Since we have just listed our Longbranch home, we hope these reviews will give you an idea of how we maintain our homes, as well as our character. We do strive for our vacationers to have a memorable private, and enjoyable family vacation.
Scott VandeZande or Jan Place purchased this house in 2010
The sense of peacefulness, quiet, and beauty of the northwest surrounds us while staying at our home. The incredible sunrises, as well as when the sunsets, bring a warm orange cast on the snow capped Mount Rainier throughout the year.
Our home has been completely remodeled, so all appliances are new, including remodeled baths, new carpet, and a beautifully decorated, comfortable home, that most would not consider a beach home, but instead, a beautiful home at the beach. The wall to wall windows provide an incredible view from nearly every room. For summertime, there is a large deck with gas grill, as well as a fire pit for roasting marsh mellows. Just steps away to the beach for kayaking, and swimming.
Thank you to Jan and Scott for a perfect end of summer retreat from the city before school begins! We had beautiful weather during our stay and enjoyed views of Mt. Rainier, exploring the beaches and nearby sandy beaches by dingy. The yard was perfect for young children, fully fenced with enough room for them to run around and kick balls. The fire pit and s'mores provided by Jan were a huge hit with my littles. The home itself was very well appointed. We arrived prepared with what we needed and were surprised to find the home provided anything you could ever need from kitchen equipment, cutlery, spices, canned goods, etc. The beds were comfortable with very nice linens and loads of extras if needed. We definitely recommend this home anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway and look forward to returning in the future.
This home and location was the perfect place for our family vacation. We had beautiful weather all week and were able to fully enjoy the deck, beach and spectacular views of Mt. Rainer everyday. This home has great outdoor space and seating, BBQ, fire pit, beach access, and canoe, and kayak. Our kids enjoyed picking fresh blackberries, plums and apples everyday! The house itself far exceeded our expectations. Anything and everything you could want is provided. We had 4 adults and 2 children and had plenty of room in this home without ever being on top of each other. The home is well kept, beautifully decorated, the kitchen was well stocked and had all the appliances anyone could need. Scott and Jan were a pleasure to work with. Very hospitable and made us feel so welcomed in their home. We made great memories during our week there and will be staying there again in the future. I have already recommended this home to our friends.
I am not sure how Scott and Jan engineered it but we saw Mount Rainier every day...
Jan and Scott were delightful to work with, personalities that carried into the atmosphere of the house.
The home was lovely and well supplied and beautifully decorated. The electronics all worked well, the views of the water, walks on the beach all lovely. The kitchen was full of great utensils and appliances and the beds were very comfortable. Our adult children had a great time out in the canoe, biking and enjoying the outdoor fireplace.
I could go on but suffice it to say this will be a memorable holiday that will surely become part of the family lore. We will be back.
Searching for a place on the water that would accommodate our grown children from Seattle to Eugene -- luck was with us! We booked for 5 nights, with family coming and going for the 4th of July weekend. It was perfect! Amazing views of the Sound, right on the water so easy to canoe, kayak; or beach walk, bike on the local roads, or just relax on the large deck! The home is in terrific shape, beautifully decorated yet fitting for a home away from home. Previous reviewers were "right on" with the well-stocked, awesome kitchen. Jan and Scott were lovely to work with and very accommodating without being intrusive. We will look forwarding to returning.
Arriving from Sweden we spent 4 nights at this wonderful house and spectacular setting. We had beautiful weather which offered us a full view of Mt. Rainier and sitting on the front deck in the sun with no coats on. The kitchen has everything you will need for easy cooking or gourmet cooking. Cozy fireplace for evening relaxing. A beautiful view from the master bedroom offers a perfect start to the day. We hiked on the beach, enjoyed quiet time with computer or book and basked in the sun with no wind. It was a extremely pleasant stay and we can highly
recommend this for a quiet, beautiful and serene escape.
Let me start with the magnificent view of Mt. Rainier and the water! It was absolutely splendid! The house is well decorated, clean, comfortable and very "homey". We made our traditional turkey dinner for Christmas in the nicely stocked kitchen (spices, flour, sugar, etc. were all there to use). We had a fire going in the fireplace almost the entire time. The beds were super comfortable and the sheets, linens, etc. were all clean. It is also worth noting that the owner, Jan, was so easy to work with and very friendly. We are already talking about coming back this summer so we can enjoy the beach when the weather is warmer. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.
Just steps to our beach, and minutes from our home is a boat launch. We have a bouy in front of our home, where you can tie your boat. Or if you prefer, there is a Marina in Fulicy bay, just a mile from our waterfront home. Penrose State park is minutes away. There is a local winery for those that enjoy wine tastings. Side trips to Olympic National Park, Hood Canal, Mount Rainier, Mount Saint Helens, Port Townsend, Olympia , Seattle, Bremerton, and Gig Harbor are all points of interest. During the summer there are many local festivals. During the month of August we have delicious blackberries, pears, and plums growing on our property.
