Growing up in Ireland and Australia, we moved to San Francisco and fell in love. Soon we found this gorgeous secret gem of a town - Glen Ellen - and fell in love all over again. We have been renting and vacationing in Glen Ellen for the past 4 years and love that we get to share our home with others so that you too can fall in love with the town of Glen Ellen and all the wonders that the area provides.
Emma purchased this house in 2012
This property is located in a quiet cal-da-sac which backs on to the state park. With no traffic thoroughfare, it is a quiet relaxing property. We are a short stroll to famous restaurants and a short drive to the local wineries. Benziger Winery, with its amazing wines is a short trip up the hill from the main street.
The private backyard with deck, pool, hot tub, and BBQ area make it a wonderful treat after a busy day exploring the area or perfect for just getting away from it all!
During the hot summer, the private solar heated pool, hot tub, deck, and yard make it feel like you are well away from the cool coastal climate and San Francisco city fog.
My wife and I just spent 2 nights at this charming studio. The exclusive use of the backyard and pool area made us feel like we were a million miles from it all. The township of Glen Ellen is quaint and central to amazing wineries. The restaurants and food were amazing and the village market was a MUST. A wonderful retreat! Thank you.
I rented this charming Glen Ellen getaway to celebrate my birthday with my closest girlfriends. It was exactly as shown in the pictures. Emma was a great host, as her communication was on point and she was really hospitable. An easy to find location on google maps. A big bonus was how close of a walking distance it was to the downtown village of Glen Ellen, as restaurants, tasting rooms and the grocery store was an easy walk to. I had a great time, I highly recommend this property and would gladly return.
This house was exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a location that proved to be central to most of the things that we wanted to do. We had a family group of kids and adults, ages 10-47, and there really was something for everyone. The kids enjoyed the beautiful little pool, and we appreciated the fact that there were plenty of pool toys and towels fore them to use in it. The huge dining room table was perfect for playing some of the board games that were there. The adults enjoyed the super comfy beds and the fabulous outdoor sitting area, complete with a heat lamp for when it cooled down in the evening. We also loved the fact that we could walk down into town for dinner and cocktails, which we did every evening that we were there. Very quiet, peaceful spot. Thanks, Emily, for providing us with a wonderful place to stay!
We couldn't have been happier with our 3-day vacation at the house, except for one major problem. The house was EXTREMELY hot during the day and in the early evening. I recall temps being well over 80 degrees in the house. It was very uncomfortable every single day we walked in the house upon returning from being out and about. Things ultimately cooled down at night, but that took a while. We used the fans and whatever else we could find in the house, but nothing helped except keeping the windows open all night.
Otherwise, we loved the location, the backyard, the patio, the bathrooms, the amenities, etc. Downtown Glen Ellen was great. The local restaurants (Olive and Vine and The Glen Ellen Inn) and wineries (Talisman and Korbin Kameron) were terrific. So we would consider coming back in the winter.
We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and get some much needed rest and relaxation. The property was perfect for that and exactly what I was looking for (pool was a requirement for me). The first night we walked down to Fig Cafe with a bottle of wine (no corkage) and had a wonderful dinner. We had a wonderful day relaxing by the pool the next day. We had a great experience at Benzinger as well. It was VERY hot during our stay and while the front room got very warm, the bedroom area stayed cool. The second night we had a great dinner at Aventine. The property is quiet, private and peaceful. Can't wait to come back again!! The host was very responsive with all my inquiries before and during the stay.
We have to agree with the last reviewer. Emma was really wonderful to deal with - very prompt and straightforward. She emailed us several times while we were there and was prompt on getting the damage deposit back. However, we were quite disappointed on how run down the property looks. We appreciate the drought means that the garden isn't lush however the the pots are full of dead plants and there are lots of weeds at the entrance to the apartment. The apartment itself is basic but suited our needs. The bedroom is nice - spacious and the bed is lovely - comfortable with nice sheets. We also appreciated there is a closet (needs more hangers) and places to put clothes. We liked how central it was too. Our only complaint is that the property needs some upkeep. A few hours of weeding would make a world of difference.
We rented this apartment for 2 days. Our host/owner Emma could not have been nicer. She checked in on us during our stay via email and was so kind and pleasant from the outset of our correspondence. I would consider another stay because of her genuine hospitality.
The pool was a huge highlight, most of our time was spent there. Quiet, tranquil, and relaxing. Perfect for two people. The king size bed was also excellent. Very comfortable, like a luxury hotel. The interior of the apartment was immaculate also. A bit dated, but in good order. My only issue was the grounds. They were so overgrown in parts with weeds and there are lots of flower pots everywhere with dead plants inside. I fully understand our drought., however, they should just be removed. It would be so much more aesthetically pleasing. A good deal of weeding would have made a big difference also in terms of overall impression of this property. For the rate per night, it seems fair that the grounds would be cared for better.
Proximity to town is great. Walking distance to Glen Ellen. Jack London Plaza is a short drive and offers excellent restaurants. Overall, it was a great stay.
Thank you Emma- Joel and John - Berkeley, CA
